In this video we look at an easy to understand approach to TONAL VALUES, and how that applies to creating vibrant watercolor paintings.
This video should be great for watercolor beginners, but I would hope that more experienced painters would also find this useful.
We have also been looking at some basic Colour Theory for watercolorists in the previous episodes and will continue to build up on these in future episodes.

Watercolour Bites is a How to painting series. Designed mostly for watercolorists, with a mixture of theory as well as some how to painting guides. We cover lots of foundational principles to help students progress their painting.
I appreciate this framework, because it simplifies the process, and now I can’t wait to apply these principles! It feels doable and not overwhelming. The way you broke down the tonal values on the egg and then showed them on the elephant was so helpful. I’ve had art and design classes before, but this is the first time someone explained the different values in a way I can understand AND how to “see” and apply that breakdown and principles to another subject. Thank you Tom. It is so informative and so rich in aspects to consider. But now I’ve got to go back to the beginning and Episode 1 and listen to it all again - because as my old maths teacher said it is essential to first understand then cogitate upon and then inwardly digest. I’m currently holding on my fingernails to understand it all. But I couldn’t have a better teacher. Thank you

What a lovely, educational episode. Beautifully done - I just wish the background music wasn't there. The music is really distracting to me and overpowers your great voice and well organized presentation.
