You don’t do a control burn after dark. He should have been required to get a permit. When there is a control burn in Georgia, you have to dig a trench ( fire break) around the area and the fire has to be out by dark. I hate you have to deal with this crazy man. I know you were terrified, when I lived in the country the guy across the street left something on the stove & went to bed. I woke up to someone screaming, his house was on fire & so was the pasture behind him. I was standing in my house with my hand on the storm door, the glass was so hot I thought it was going to shatter and my husband was on oxygen. I will never live in a home with a gas cooking stove. I don't understand why the fire department and police didn't tell him to move aside and use their authority to go onto his land and spray down the fire. That sure wouldn't go over here.. you do as the fire/police tell you to do, and as far as controlled burns, they are done on certain days under certain weather conditions. I didn't have any damage, other than my peace of mind. Kitties are all fine. They don't like discord around their home.
