Former Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper joins the Standpoint to discuss Justin Trudeau's resignation, the state of Canada’s government, and President Trump’s shocking comments about Canada. Donald Trump recently made remarks surrounding Canada and America’s relationship with lumber, oil, dairy, and more - remarking that Canada should become the 51st state. Ex-Prime Minister Stephen Harper dives into what Trump gets wrong about his comments and emphasizes that Canada wants to be America’s friend and neighbor - not annexed by our allies.

I forgot what it was like to have an intelligent, well spoken PM. Thanks for the great interview, Gabe 😊
Brilliant comments Prime Minister Harper! Wonderful to hear from you again and thank you Mr Groisman for this outstanding interview in this crucial time for both countries.
Thank you Susan
We don't call retired PM's prime minister. If you are going to use a title, it would be the Right Honourable Stephen Harper.
@@SS-vs2nzexcept in the case of Justin Trudeau, sorry not sorry. I just could not do that for fear I might be struck by lightening.
God I wish Mr. Harper was still Prime Minister! Brilliant, steadfast and a patriot. We miss him.❤- Mike from Ottawa
Good on you, Gabe, for this Goldmine of a video
Thank you
Great interview. Harper is such a smart well spoken statesman.
🇨🇦💪
We miss you, Harper!

Pleb!
Thanks for giving us this tip, great interview.
Yup
👍
What a great interview! Thank you Gabe ... I just became a fan.
Excelent interview! How refreshing to hear a polician from Canada (and USA too) sounding sane, knowledgable, and well articulated without either wokness or showmanship
Stephen was the voice of reason arguably the best Prime Minister in several generations. And the eastern Canadian electorate traded that for a Liberal Party of Canada dumpster fire.
I missed Harper as our PM so so much. Possibly the best, most intelligent, logical and honest we have ever had.
He tried to get us into iraq

here from The Pleb, thanks for this interview, damn fine job! subbed!
Same here, thanks for the great interview.
Yup!
Well done! Great interview. You’ve gained another sub. I expect to see this channel explode! Keep up the good work.
Fantastic interview. Well done 👏
Great channel Gabe! Subscriber from Canada
I miss you Stephen Harper you were a great Prime Minister you were voted when i was 14
We need to hear from this prime minister more frequently. Thank you Stephen Harper
In Canada, we address our previous Prime Ministers as follows:: "The Right Honourable Stephen Harper". The only Prime Minister in Canada is the one in office.
Great recommendation by the Pleb. Loved this interview. Hopefully some Canadian social media stars can follow suit. There’s a lot of young voters out there that have no idea what a great PM Harper was.
This is an amazing interview, thank you for it! It's so nice to see Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Thank you so much for having the right honourable Stephen Harper on your show! This was a great interview, and it was a treat to hear his views on the current political landscape in both Canada and the US and the relations between these two countries. I've missed his leadership! Glad to hear his staunch support for Pierre Poulievre, and I can't wait to vote for Pierre in the next election, which can't come soon enough! Thanks again! BTW, good luck with your channel! I came here thanks to the Pleb! 👍🏽
Best Prime Minister in my lifetime
Canada will never forget the true value of Honorable Prime Minister, Stephen Harper (we were truly blessed and respected on the world under his direction). I can honestly say that when Trudeau came in, there were never so many apologies to PM Harper from fellow Canadians for having voted Liberal. I do believe that because of the ties from Pierre to PM Harper, Canada is most trusting in the Conservative Party. I pray that we have that opportunity to get Pierre in. Thank you for doing this interview it brings great hope and inspiration for a change that is so immediately needed. God bless both of you and God bless both of our great nations.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh mercy!!!

Since Covid 2 Year Shutdown for about 2 years, affecting 360,000 Businesses and over 900,000 Jobs in 2021 then Trudeau called an election...Crime increased, business and personal financial debt increased as Canadians kept tiredly struggling along...
Our grandchildren will be paying for Trudeau's mismanagement and incompetence for decades.
I sincerely wish people would do some critical thinking before they blindly mark an X on their ballot.
In my opinion Steven Harper was the best PM ever
Stephen Harper was the first PM whose tenure I'm old enough to remember in its entirety. An incredible statesman and prudent fiscal manager. It's really shocking how far the country has fallen since Trudeau took over. We miss you, Prime Minister! If Pierre proves to be half the leader you were, we're in good hands.
The best Prime Minister who branded Canada 🇨🇦 even better.
I miss Harper. Canada was respected around the world with having him represent us. Justin is simply laughed at and seen as a joke.
It's nice to see that adults will be back in charge of Ottawa again soon.
What a voice of common sense!
Well said Mr. Harper!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I’m here cause The Pleb sent me!
Still have my Sticker up... "miss me yet?" from PM Stephen Harper made by REBEL NEWS! YES SUPER MISS YOU!
Excellent interview with Prime Minister Steven Harper. He is clear and summarized his role as Prime Minister well (great contribution by his government at that time to Canada), and gave his concluding views, rather smoothly and precisely, on what Canada should do with the present situation with President Trump pushing for Canada as the 51st State.
In particular, during his tenure, he was always working towards balancing the budget in good times, an act that should be appreciated and followed by Governments across the globe, including US and Canada today.
In Canada, we address our previous Prime Ministers as follows:: "The Right Honourable Stephen Harper". The only Prime Minister in Canada is the one in office.
Great interview!
missed his leadership, outstanding interview in this crucial time. ❤❤❤❤❤ from Ontario.
Great interview! When Trudeau first got elected PM of Canada, I stated on Facebook that Canada will soon realize that Prime Minister Harper was the best PM we ever had. . . Just subscribed to your channel! 😁
Nine years of Trudeau was a nightmare. Harper was the best. Hopefully, the outcome will be Conservative again soon.
Found your channel thanks to The Pleb.
My Favorite Prime minister ❤❤❤
Thank you Gabe for this interview, I just subscribed. This video has to go viral in Canada. Stephen Harper will go down in history as one of the best Prime Ministers we have experienced to date.
yes exactly, the damage is undeniable!!! thank you mr harper!
I was so proud to be Canadian when Harper was PM. He called Trudope for exactly what he is. I felt sick when Trudope became our PM.
Harper continued to escalate foreign immigration, terrorists with Canadian passports were showing up in countries like Algeria. The conservatives definitely missed out on a major window to set up silicon valley contenders at a time when companies like amazon, facebook were creating a massive VC culture. It's nice to cherish one of the few conservative leaders who played to Canada's strengths but we need better from Canadian leadership overall.
Great podcast. Thank you to The Pleb for this recommendation!!
🇨🇦 PM Harper truly left a lasting impact on Canada. His strong leadership, focus on economic stability, and commitment to principles makes him stand out as the greatest Prime Ministers of my time!
In Canada, we address our previous Prime Ministers as follows:: "The Right Honourable Stephen Harper". The only Prime Minister in Canada is the one in office.
Stephen Harper is very clear and stands up as a sovereign nation besides United States vs Canada. We as Canadians will never be American's 51st state. The best PM we never had in Canada's history.
Vous nous manquez M. Harper, plus que jamais
Great interview Mr Harper and Gabe !
Trump needs to understand that Canada is the best ally the US could have and has had. We have both supported each other here in Canada and down in the US for a very long time. There is no need for this bantering now. Don't worry Canada is quite capable of holding its own and will negotiate when Pierre gets in. Chill out Donald, things are looking up.
Seeing recent Harper and Cretien interviews, boy do I miss the good old days...they were opponents but they were the best of the time, especially compared to today. Cretien and then Harper stabilized Canada economically for quite some time. It was a good decade.
Canada is the True North, Strong and FREE! 🇨🇦
Thank you for interviewing Mr. Harper, this was a level headed interview.
Great to see you Mr Harper
I miss the Harper days, when we had a real leader
... and an economy.
How is it someone gets to interview Harper, but not be able to pronounce "Poilievre"?
He isn't Canadian.
both seem to be in the "advising" business

Miss this man, we were lucky to have him as a leader
How in the world does this dude w his 238 subs get Harper for half an hour?
His last name is very telling and Harper is in the zionist orbit of influence.
Industry plant
Maybe Harper was bored. Or no one else wanted to talk to Harper. He had his day. The pendulum swung. It's swinging back again. It will also happen to Poilievre. Canadians will be tired of him after one or two elections. C'est la vie.
Harper is not very popular. He pushed archaïque policies and younger voters were not into it.

Very nice interview Mr Groisman. We miss mr. Harper’s common sense approach. Glad to hear him still being active for Canada. Polieve hopefully follows Harper’s footsteps as our next leader.

Incredible scoop over any of the mainstream media! This may be the most important interview of the current Canadian political scene.
Mr. Harper is the best PM for Canada 🇨🇦!
Boy, do we miss Harper today
Good thing our current prime minister prorogued parliament, that should give you some familiar warm fuzzies after Harper used it to avoid accountability for his own malfeasance, right?
The woke would (wrongly) disagree sadly

I'm going to do you a solid, Gabe, and teach all of you how to pronounce the French-Canadian name of Poilièvre: poi-li-è-Vre
In English: polly/EH/Vre
Hope that helps! Wonderful interview with PM Harper, who grew Canada's middle class to the WEALTHIEST in the entire world. Life was great under him. Trudeau has made us all much poorer and tens of of Canadians have died thanks to his incompetent government, with millions more suffering unecessarily. 💔🇨🇦
Very informative interview, thank you
The Conservatives were WAY ahead in the polls long before Trump won or anyone thought he might win. Trump did not set up Canada’s Conservatives to win.
Yes that is very true.conservatives blew Liberals away after the Trudeau declared war on Canadians February 14, 2022. We found an Ally against RCMP liberals, Pierre and that party listened to us, Ontario premier Ford flips back and forth like a wind balloon, one day he is NDP, then mostly liberal, sometimes he is a conservative, but not often
Kudos sir to land mr Harper.
Thank you Mr Harper for speaking honestly and standing for Canada. Trump needs to butt out!
Prime Minister Harper, are you looking for a job? You're so well spoken and level headed id be proud to see you as PM again.
Pierre Pronounced POLY EV
Just call him PRIME MINISTER
Thank you for speaking up and standing up for Canada Prime Minister Harper. A lot of good common sense in this interview. Your party has my support.
Great interview!! I am here because of The Pleb
It be smart if Pierre appointed Stephan Harper as Deputy Prime Minister
“Governments defeat themselves.” Yes, Stephen, you know all about that. There was a reason this guy got booted out of Canadian politics!
People here seem to have short memories. I truly hope PP does a better job.
My cousin Stephen Harper, here on be half of the Pleb and subbed, thanks.
I remember voting for Conservative to keep Mr. Harper when he lost to Liberal and i was devastating.
Can’t wait for the day i can hear a yankee properly pronounce Poilievre! 😂
Thank you for your service to this country, PM Harper, the best to do it in a long time. Election now, please.
Yes, 2006 was the year that Stephen Harper was elected to the office of Prime Minister in Canada!! And, honestly, the only thing I remember about his term as PM, is that, just before that election, I went to a family reunion, where my sister mentioned that she was very worried, "Because, if Harper wins the election," she said, "he will send our military to war!" It ended up that she was quite correct about this!! She had a son, yes "had" is the operative word there!! That same year on September 18th, my nephew was killed by a suicide bomber in Kandahar, Afghanistan, leaving his wife and their young children to live on without him!! Niw, this is the only thing I worry about, by electing a Conservative Government!! I just don't want any more young Canadians to similarly be dying for nothing, by fighting useless wars that just really are NOT for their country, but only for our government who only follows the American war mongers!! And, in my mind & heart, my nephew, a Medic in the Canadian Military, peacefully handing out candy to children, died for absolutely nothing, because NOTHING changed in Afghanistan even after many young people died just like my nephew did over there!!!
I’m so sorry for your painful loss. He’s a hero and will never be forgotten. 💔
Steven Harper is my favourite Prime Minister, he was criticized so much, couldn’t form a majority government- but he saved Canadian economy, he supported young families, reduced the gst rate. There was stability
NDP will be the Carney lapdog next.
Great interview. The fact that your not an AI voice caused me to subscribe to your Chanel for honest views.
Also over 78,000 guns in 2024 was stopped from coming into Canada from the USA . And only 11,000 guns were stopped going from Canada into the USA .
Harper is one of the great conservative politicians of a generation. Canada has fallen so far in the 9 years since his departure
Great job having the Former PM of Canada. The Right Honourable Harper is an extremely shy person and rarely makes an appearance, let alone interviews.
I gathered that the reason Mr Harper left when he lost over Justin Trudeau was bc the latter doesn’t have the mental capacity to argue with him in the Hill. This is just my opinion. I’m sure if you asked him that question, he’d be very diplomatic and won’t answer it.
FYI, people assume that the Honourable Poilievre is Trump-like. If you dissect their backgrounds, Justin is actually a lot closer to Trump. Both men inherited the wealth of their fathers. Their last name is a brand. They were both involved in cronyism and many sexual controversies.
Mr Poilievre had to resort to the name-calling game bc whoever put Justin to power (Liberal party and voters) are so star-struck they can’t see past their noses. The social media was in love with him. Heck, his first magazine cover was a fashion magazine when he became the PM.
I’m elated that the honeymoon stage is finally over. FYI, do an online search of Justin’s name and Maclean magazine. Better yet, search his mother’s name Margaret along with her private part (please be explicit when you do your search). That’s why the rumours that he was the son of Fidel Castro. I hope you get a laugh after, enjoy! :)
Pierre Poilievre ………NOT “paul-ih-vair”……….”poly-ev”. Pretty simple.
I always respected PM Harper for standing up to Putin when he saw him at an international meeting, refused to shake his hand and told him, to his face, to 'get out of Crimea'. He has a backbone. You have to respect that, like him or not.
Best PM we ever had since Laurier. Stupid Canadians voted him out in 2015 in favour of weed and "budgets balance themselves". He did not deserve to suffer such a landslide defeat.
He lost in 2015 because he could not explain a vision just like Trudeau is continue. When you are in second or third mandate, you need to treat the election campaign as it is your first seeking a first mandate. Both Trudeau and Harper took Canadians for granted toward the end.
it wasn’t a landslide defeat…
you’re about to see what a landslide defeat is.
Agreed but 2015 wasn’t even close to a landslide defeat
@@tylerfraser2096 Uh... going from something like 30 seats to a full majority is a landslide.
@@mebmakes you’ll see what a real landslide is this election.
The reason liberals won a lot seats then is because they were very unpopular under there former leader…the liberals have always been a popular party otherwise which is why when they put a pretty face in charge saying he’d legalize weed… they won lots of seats.
Conservatives didn’t lose massive amounts of voters and weren’t destroyed as a party though.
What an incredible statesman , I sure miss having Mr. Harper as Prime minister best leader ever
Gosh how we miss Mr. Harper
I was really furious when Steven Harper planned to give 30 of Canadian F-18s to "Youkrain"...
Steven Harper is my favourite Prime Minister, he was criticized so much, couldn’t form a majority government- but he saved Canadian economy, he supported young families, reduced the gst rate. There was stability - But Pierre Polviere is not as effective as Harper.
Prime Minister Harper is such an interesting man. He is always calm & he really made Canada a very good place. He is a very traditional Conservative
As a stupid young leftist, I really disliked Mr Harper. Booyyy was i ungrateful. I'd give much to have him back as PM. Thankfully Mr. Poilievre is on hiis way up and it's arguably even better, or at the very leawst a second best.
The Pleb sent me to your page. 👍
Knowing what i know now i can't believe I used to dismiss this man as a horrible PM. He's like a breathe of fresh air after 9 years of Trudeau.
I did too when I was young.
