Definitely plan to use this service in the future. Thanks for the video!
Hi, great video, I liked and subscribed to your channel. My name is Clint Hightower, I will be making replacement lenses for the 996.2 headlights soon. I was wondering if you service the 996's and if I can refer my customers who purchase my lenses to you to install them?
Please reach out to us directly once you have the lenses - sales@lightwerkz.net
Great video and service. You mention covering the new lenses with PPF. I've read that Porsche lenses covered in PPF will delaminate if you ever have to take the PPF off. Will this happen with your lenses as well?
The key word is *may* delaminate. Anything covering a headlight lens could technically take a layer off the lens. The other day a light came in with a piece of clear packing tape and it did delaminate a portion of the lens. The reason why we are so busy with this service is because Porsche owners are warned against putting the PPF on the lenses. This goes as far as detailers not wanting to be liable for any potential issues as well, so they dont do the lights. With the right techniques, it shouldn't be a concern. Here's the flip side of the topic. The lenses go to hell no matter what due to the design. Most of the lenses faces the sky and the UV from the sun eats through it. Lights that come in from any southern climate are wrecked. We do a handful a week. The manufacturer of modern Porsche headlight assemblies varies by model range. Hella produces all the Cayenne and Panamera. ZKW produces the Carrera and Cayman. All lenses eventually degrade. There is nothing "delicate" or "special" about the lenses made for the Porsche models, yet no other car owner community is warned against using PPF on the lenses. This is standard practice to cover the headlights when the front end is being wrapped in PPF. So to answer you question, yes it *may* happen when you go to replace the PPF in 5-10 years. In my opinion it's better to roll the dice, than to watch your lenses degrade over time. Aftermarket lenses will degrade quicker. The only sure way to protect is with film. Lots of films have ceramic coating built in too. Lots of UV protection this way.
Thank you for a very professional and thorough answer! This probably reflects the high quality of your work.
Incredible. nice work
Another great job.
I was thinking of tackling this myself. I've taken apart many lenses. I'm kind of wondering why you guys didn't leave a large lip of the lens, so you can use pliers to pull it out easier, but my main question is there are like dozens of different suppliers offering replacement lens from $75 to $400, but they all look the same. Just using an Amazon search will lead to a variety of prices with seemingly no obvious difference in the pictures. Not sure if all of these are the same, but we have different Porsche tax to the price going on.
I bought mine for $60 still otw
Welchen Kleber habt ihr benutzt?
I am looking forward to getting mine taken care of. What is your current turn around? Thanks!!
Usually 2-3 days to turn around. Thanks!
How do you remove the main housing once the lens is off?
Its seated in the sealant. There are housing tabs around the light that go into the sealant. Once you loosen it pops out.
Why do you put the light back into the oven post-assembly? Same temp and time?
This softens the sealant so you can press the lens into place. Yes same time and temp.
I have a Porsche Cayman 2009 could I send you my Glenn's for you to do this work for me
What temp do you set the oven and how long do you keep the headlight in?
240F 20-25 mins at a time
I have a Porsche Pinero 2014 looking for lenses to be replaced. What is the cost?
Panamera?
I have a 2014 Porsche Panamera 4s and would like the front lens replaced. What is the price for this job?
@@marcuselderkin4478 Yes, we offer here : lightwerkz.net/products/porsche-panamera-970-2-headlight-lens-replacement-service
Hey, I am going to do the same with mine

What silicon do you use ?
We do not use a silicone. We use an automotive grade butyl sealant. Do not use the one that comes with the lenses. Its not good. We use the Diode Dynamics - lightwerkz.net/collections/build-materials/products/butyl-headlamp-sealant-single-diode-dynamics
How much?
Check out the product link in the description for more info.
