  • So we have done 3 MSC Cruises now and we have really enjoyed them. Everytime we have stepped onboard the ships we have had nothing but amazing service from all of the crew... but it doesn't seem that the same service is offered beforehand as when it comes to the MSC website or even MSC customer service we feel information of the products and services they offer on their fleet of ships is seriously lacking.
    So in this video we go through how to book and get the best deals for the speciality restaurants onboard the MSC ships, we have done a few and highly recommended them(we will leave the links to the videos down below if you want to see a full food review of them all) Again barely any of this information is available on their website and annoyingly you can only see prices once you have a cruise booked with them which we think isn't fair.

    Hi Stacey and Kev. MSC definitely does thing's differently than other's. Lol. When I was trying to make a payment on a cruise we had booked I had to call customer service. ( Couldn't do it online) final payment was due and I didnt want to miss it. We were booked in the Yacht Club, interior cabin. Many phone calls later because no one could process the payment for whatever reason my frustration level was increasing. I finally made a call to corp office. No help there. Finally got a gentleman overseas. Told him my delima. ( I was now 7 day's past fiinal payment). He said hold on. Transferred me to someone else. She was wonderful. The cruise had not been cancelled yet. Payment was made, all good. Then she sent me an email with the final payment information. It was then I realized the cabin number was not the same. I had been moved to a deluxe balcony suite. She commented on all the phone calls I had made. ( Glad they at least keep track of that). We had a great time but it was tough getting to that point. Going forward I will book with them again but, I will use an agent to deal with them. Lol. sorry for the long post. Thank you for all your information. Have a great day ❤

      Oh no what a complete dilemma you had to deal with. So glad they sorted it in the end. (with a cheeky upgrade thrown in 🤪) shouldn't have to take that long to sort though. And yes haha at least if you go through an agent the plus side is they can then deal with it. Bonus lol 😁

    We come from Southampton and say speciality.
    we booked the 4 speciality restaurant's and the show
    we done the Butcher cut - indochine - Hola - and the Sushi restaurant all excellent value.
    We are both knocking 60 never had Mexican until we see your vlog, so had to give it a go.
    Did not have a clue what we were ordering could not even pronounce what was on the menu just said all of them and all of that.
    Loved the food so much going to a Mexican restaurant tomorrow night.

    Hi Kev & Stacey - very informative video😀. One thing I did see is that you can 'upgrade' in the butchers cut, basically if you want a steak that's not on the fixed menu you can pay an extra charge to upgrade to something from the ala carte menu. Not sure if this applies in the other restaurants but can't see why not.
    One other thing to consider is the yacht club, this has it's own restaurant that is as good as (if not better) than the speciality ones. Menu constantly changes, also the butler can make reservations at the speciality restaurants and will even escort you there to make sure you get looked after. If you are somebody who use the speciality restaurants and like a more relaxed form of dining (rather than main dining room and buffet) the yacht club can be very good value - particularly as you get the top drinks package, internet, 24 hour room service and a more relaxed environment. We actually priced up one cruise and the difference when taking all the extra charges into account was negligible.

    The website is an absolute nightmare, so is customer service should you call them. Finally a woman called me from their concierge service and she is AMAZING!! I had called customer service a few times and even tried doing my booking through their website and I don't know if that is what prompted them to have her contact me but it really helped in my process. She was able to answer all my questions and even threw in a few upgrades, by the time our call was almost done I was ready with my charge card in hand. She also told me since she is my personal concierge if I have any other questions or concerns to contact her directly. Outstanding service, I fully plan to write to the company to give a review on her and my whole experience.

    Hey Kev and Stacey - Im smiling , because whenever you say Buz, I have a little chuckle, as here in west Yorks We/I say Bus. I say Specialty restaurants - but after watching all of your volts, I do sometimes slip in Speciality without realising haha. Brilliant video, because you are right about the lack of pre-boarding information, its so difficult to find anything out at all.
    Thanks for the example children's menu options, thats brilliant, I haven't been able to find those anywhere. One thing that surprised me about the premier plus drinks package was that there were that, in Hola - the frozen Margareta was not included - you had to pay for those, but all the other drinks and the regular Margareta cocktails were included!! Bizarre, but because we loved Hola sooooo much ( we ate like we hadn't eaten for weeks lol ) we weren't bothered.
    Thats great to know that a child with their package can have free soft drinks in the specialty restaurants, if the accompanying adults have a full drinks package - as I thought we would have to pay for them, as I knew their package didnt cover drinks in the specialty restaurants.
    We have eaten in all specialty restaurants on Virtuosa, and Loved every one - my least favourite, if there has to be one would be Indochine, and the Kaito Sushi is the only restaurant I ate in that I was still hungry after we had the package meal ( so, we bought extra items ), every other restaurant we always left feeling stuffed lol.
    I'm 99% certain that if you have paid for the dining experience package, if you ant to choose something off of the a la carte menu, then you get that item at 50% discount - so you could have your tomahawk for half price - because you have paid for the dining experience package anyway... Im almost sure you can?
    Fab that you are going on Princess - we have sailed almost 4o times with them, we love them. We have done all of their specialty restaurants, but to be honest, 9 times out of ten, we dont eat in them, because the food in the main dining room etc, and Alfredos is just brilliant.

      Haha thanks so much Terry, and to be honest there probably isn't anyone else in the UK let alone the rest of the world that say Buzz 🤣 we must be a rare breed here in Stoke! And yes it's so annoying the lack of information beforehand. When we get back from France we will start looking into our Alaska cruise properly and are hoping Princess has more information available. Thanks for the extra tips about the speciality restaurants, we couldn't find that anywhere so great that you know this and hopefully other people see it. And oooo 50% off a Tomahawk steak 😋 and we see what you mean about the sushi it's not always filling even though it's nice. With our appetites we would of had to go the buffet afterwards 😁

    Nice to hear this information. Don’t understand why companies can’t have an easy website. Wonder why they don’t book kids dinners unless too many want to back out? I think I’ll look for an MSC cruise since I’ve gotten so much great info from you. I just got back from Universal for 6 days staying at Cabana Bay. Love that hotel and their lazy river. They have the best shuttles to the parks. You can wait 45 min at Disney shuttles while we never waited more than 5 minutes even when people were pouring out of the parks at closing. They added the double long busses of Volcano Bay and cleared those 300 plus people really quick.

    WOW you really are hooked. Princess MSC and P&O. FYI Their is a youtube playlist called the cruise. It's a 90s T.V. series that was on ITV. 6 series, I think 32 episodes. Well worth a look if you've not already seen it.

    Great vlog again, you two rock :) I am very sad that Hola on my next two cruises (Bellissima & Grandiosa) is Tapas not Tacos. I say Speciality the same as you :)

    Thanks guys, great video as always. We have been on Virtuosa with kids twice and booked again for this summer. We found that Indocine and Hola Tacos didnt offer a kids menu, so i suggest maybe feeding kids at the buffet first (but i have also read about kids being offered chicken a chips type thing but we weren't). The kids menu in Steak House was good. Havent tried Tepinyaki yet but hopefully this time we will. Xx

      Yes it's a good deal for the 4 restaurants. Especially if you can get a great deal for the cruise to start off with. That's why we don't mind paying the extra to do them 😁

    First time cruiser and going with Virtuosa in two weeks, so good info. Best for me was: go here when you embark to reserve tables and showtimes. Good that you had the menus, so you get to see what you are buying. We chose all 4 as it just gets cheaper and cheaper. Missing info was what are the times available for these? from 18-21?

    Special-T here in the states, Kev and Stacey. Tasty no matter how you say it though! Too bad the website isn't too helpful before you book though. I can see not booking the restaurant options before booking the cruise, But would still like to see the info beforehand. Great info to pass along! MSC should link your video for those with questions! Their answer of "Talk to your Travel Agent" isn't to helpful. Are their still travel agents over there? Their rare here. Loved your cruises on MSC but they need to do better with the info.     We had to cancel two cruises from MSC . We were 120 away from sail date, so no problem getting our deposit back, just have to wait 2 MONTHS for refund to be processed… ridiculous

    Hi you both, loving your videos very informative. My husband and I are on the Virtuosa in September for 14 days and can’t wait. It’s a shame they don’t allow you to choose the restaurants you want as part of the packages. Stacey your hair is always so perfect, are you allowed to bring straighteners on the Virtuosa? I really hope so otherwise my hair will be a total frizz bomb the entire cruise. 😊

    Specialty here in Buffalo, NY and the states in general. Though you make everything sound a little fancier with speciality! You make me think twice when saying puddings instead of desserts! I do love puddings- both types!

      Thanks. You could do but you run the risk of them being booked up. If you know you want to do one(or more) book them as soon as you can to avoid disappointment

    Speciality is a British English-only alternative to specialty. I much prefer speciality personally, same as you guys.

    We have a Christmas cruise booked on the Seascape this year and considering booking some specialty dining this time. We have sailed MSC twice in the past and have not tried their specialty dining. We can’t reserve anything until 24 hours before? Wow that’s a tight window. Most lines are like months ahead of time.

    Thank you for your video. We are going to Norway in July on the MSC Euribia. I can relate to your frustrations with the website and the phone customer service. I can’t get the same answer twice to my questions. I have heard that there are also daily specialty dining deals which get announced each day whilst you’re on board. Is this true? Are these deals better than pre booking before you sale?

      Hi not sure about the daily speciality offers as we never heard them when we did our msc cruises. Maybe its something new that they started 🤔 it was always cheaper to prebook for us.

    Hi guys thanks for the video. I’m confused about one thing though- if I just want to pay a la carte from the full menu let’s say at Butcher’s cut, do I have to pre-purchase a dining package, or can I just make a reservation at Butcher’s cut once on board and then just pay a la carte?

    On the Virtuosa in June, as yet there is nothing available to book on the app,
    Do you know when the restaurants and shows are available to book, when the booking window opens.
    As you said MSC this side of the cruise aren't too good at helping.

      Hi James we have only ever booked a few weeks before and we have always been able to get on the app. We have a relative who is going in March and they have been able to access the app for a couple of months now. We have had loads of people messages us saying they can't get on the app and some are going in April. Seems like they must have problems with the app their end or something. Maybe try to ring MSC see if they know if there Is any problems. Its a shame this side of things let's them down as on the ship itself is a whole different experience

    Great informative video. May I ask, I am due to cruise in late July and as of current it is not giving me the option to add any dining packages. Am I looking too early or is there something wrong with my booking?

      You might be too early, all of our msc cruises have been booked less than 3 months before we embarked so not 100% when you can book extras. Have you tried the app and the website?
