Finalizing the Electric Power Steering on my E36 M42 M44 Frankenstein

In this episode I take finalize the VW Polo Electric power steering and have install a shorter serpentine belt.

You need a controller to adjust the sensitivity. They work by spoofing the speed signal that the control box on the column would normally see. Without a signal most of them default to an assistance level that would be correct for driving on the road at about 30mph. I got mine (for a Corsa C column) from servtronic but they don't seem to do one for your column.

Im sure it can be done.
The advantages are that you get rid of all the messy hydraulic oil, pump & reservoir.
The challenge is the fabrication and fitment.

I the turning ratio and weight tunable at all?

The weight can be adjusted using a variable resistor. To change the ratio I would have to change the rack.
