Shouka folded a 1000 cranes, because in japanese legends, it says if you fold a 1000 cranes, you get to grant 1 wish. She did it for her sick husband, hyakutaro. but it was no use.
Her mother in law told her to keep 1 as a memoir, and that's why in the start of the game, she started freaking out when she dropped her crane.
Its also implied by the body at the start that she married another man, he abused her, and she killed him.
The whole game is her trying to move on.
In the hell ending, you atone for your sins and go to jail.
In the piano ending, which is the cannon one, you turn into a yōkai and become gohome's piano lady.
Its also implied she met hyakutaro when she was saved by him in an earthquake.
