More police need to be locked up before it gets any better. Americans need revenge for the war on drugs and all the people they lied into long prison sentences. Karma is a bitch.
What young person wants to go into a career position that's vilified by the press and the public? Who wants to plan their future based on a job that may be defunded?
Self-centered people void of love and compassion having darkened hearts with unbridled hate for others, become police people! You can't be an honest citizen, love freedom, God, and the Constitution, and still back the "non-accountable" blue! (It's hypocrisy!). QUALIFIED IMMUNITY IN ITS ENTIRETY; "MUST BE ABOLISHED " ...!

The war on drugs demands that people scrutinize the police today. Remember when they put millions in prison based on their false scrutiny ? Karma is a bitch.

Overall this Journalist did a good job. One thing that this gentleman ignores is that even when the standards were astronomically high, reports are replete all over the nation with abuse and misconduct within Law Enforcement. Lowering standards will not make this less of a problem or more of a problem. As a matter of fact, lowering standards will probably give more minorities an opportunity to serve. I hear this argument all of time and it just doesn’t hold weight whatsoever because the chain of command can be just as bad as the police officer on the street. With that said, believe it or not this is a judgment from Almighty God. If you cannot see that then you don’t want to see it. I’d love to serve even in this troubling time.
To get people interested in policing, we need to: - End qualified immunity - End police unions - Get government out of policing and put them back in the power of the community - Have private police and security work along law enforcement
Why is this surprising? Y'all want to defund the police and remove qualified immunity. What did you expect? That people would still want to get into a career that risks their life everyday for that crap? The woke lack of logic never ceases to amaze me. @cm-qt9ircrime is actually at a record high lol and also police are paid the same as armed security guards with 1000 times the responsibility and risk, they should be paid more.
Please educate yourself. Read what qualified immunity does and does not. Cops can be sued even with Qualified Immunity for something they did wrong and was out of place, out of policy, out of law.@@turtletruth
The End Qualified Immunity Act would allow civil courts to hear cases when an officer violated a citizen's constitutional rights. Officers would not be able to use the qualified immunity defense to keep justified claims cases out of court. (Qualified Immunity protects bad cops!)
@cm-qt9irOVERPAID WTF !? You think being at risk everyday with almost everyone against you with your life on the line and you think they are overpaid?! Ok don’t call the police if your ever in trouble my guy
Recruitment is down partly because police are despised by a large proportion of citizens. Two many don't want to be revenue raisers for goverment. Three many see policing as a low paid job with few benefits many make a better living in private enterprise and don't have to work 12 hour shifts. Four you will live longer without a target on your back.

The arguments here were valid, however, if crime is the issue or problem then those problems can't be resolved with police and in fact, the more police you have the worse the problem will become, which is exactly happening to this country. It's unfortunate but this has become a political issue where money is the controlling factor. We as a society cannot rely on lawyers and politicians to solve practically anything. They are not engineers, designers, architects, scientists, mathematicians, or psychologist so to say that politicians by the of police will solve the complex issues of crime, homelessnes, depression, suicide and drug addiction is a complete failure of society, so the question remains is the aforementioned really problems when we have done absolutely nothing to address it.
@andrewgrell5766 Well, I do disagree with the generalization of combat and it highlights part of the problem because law enforcement by its nature should be a peace keeping force, a force to bring people to justice and judged by a court of law and not a combat force. to combat would imply war like the war on drugs which started back in the 80's I thought this was something great we would finally end drugs in this country, sadly after 40yrs and billions of dollars spent, not only has this war been an abject failure, but in fact has created a booming billion dollar business for both sides. So failure is relative. We went through the lesson of prohibition when we tried used laws to legislate morality, and that caused levels of corruption this country had never seen. It was and remains the only amendment to every be repealed. The distinction may sound slight, but the impact can be massive. If you tell an officer to go to war and fight as opposed to standing watch and keeping the peace. now the problem with combat is that it creates huge burnout among the ranks because they expect you to chase down and tackle suspects for stealing a box of cereal, it's fun for a year or two but trust me, you will be sick and tired of arresting the same people over and over and you ask yourself, for what! You're doing your job, taking these scumbags to jail only for them to be released. However, in peacekeeping, the role and approach are different, and in this scenario, intervention and mitigation are the focus, which gives the officer much more longevity. This is why they are called peace officers and not combat officers. Until we shift away from this war on drugs war on crime war on immigrants, we will continue to lose officers by the groves due to burnout because wars need an end, whereas peace is continuous.
I honestly feel like they should recruit from college pupils that are in the process of attaining their CJ Degree, they’re paying for college anyway. Recruit them and send them to the academy, which should be apart of the education process. Just my opinion. I’ve had my Bachelors Degree in CJ for yrs now and it is has been hard attempting to get on a in LE.
