Nice review of a lovely car. I have a mk8 which I love. Fantastic car. Although many have critisised the lack of buttons I found you very quickly get used to it and can find all the regularly used features easily. Mine is a manual and my only gripe is that the 1st and 2nd gear ratios are really low which is a pain if you want to accelerate quickly. I'd love to try a DSG auto. That said I really enjoy the driving experience overall and can't imagine driving anything else in the near future
Great video Tom! This may be a bit out of the blue, but could you tell me which song of yours was used in car throttles “7 greatest analogue supercars” please?
Had 7,5 and have 8 (2024) for a month. 8 is a better car, some savings are there (on areas there shouldn't be, gas strut etc) but overall with tech it is obviously a better car. Also the comfort is superior
I went from 7.5 to mo mk8 one thing I did notice is it’s better put together less rattling and squeaking from dash, ignoring obvious cost cutting, it’s also a better drive the chassis seems more dynamic, dare I say it quite sporty 😂
@@TheAutoDadbecause it’s utterly expensive now. i payed for 1.5tsi 26000€ 3 years ago, the same one (that now comes as automatic only) costs 7000€ more and with less extras that my has (i went trough configurator yesterday)
Have VW nailed it? Is this still the people’s car?
Definitely a massive improvement over the Mk8, as they've listened to feedback!
It’s nice when manufacturers do that. 😁😁
I enjoyed watching the video review, I particularly like the New Improved Infotainment System 😊
It’s definitely improved. They’ve listened to the comments and acted on them, which is great.
Nice review, I have a 8.5 style on order!
Good choice! Lots of tech and style for the money.

DSG would probably be the most comfortable option to drive, the ratios are close enough in the manual you could probably pull off in second.

I don’t have a clue I’m afraid. Sounds like one of mine, but in the end they had a catalogue of 300+ songs which I don’t have access to anymore.
Build quality & character not at MK7.5 levels
Definitely a consideration, built quality does seem good though. Character I can’t comment on yet.

@mrgr having physical buttons back is a nice touch! Are the gas struts weaker now?

Definitely feels sporty, even in a non-sport guise.
It is not people`s car any longer
What would you say is now?

@grosniaco sadly all cars are now very very expensive, but agreed it’s definitely gone up in price.
