It was late at night. I was watching this on my phone aboard the long bus ride home. Turned out some old guy was also watching it from behind me through the gap in the seats. He leaned around, poked my shoulder and said "Ah I see ye like motorbikes". Had a quality auld fella convo with him about bikes and how not to crash and die. Learned a lot, decent strange old man encounter. Thanks spicy
If you think this being your only exposure to Road Rash is bad, my only exposure to Twisted Metal was an LCD game shaped like a flight stick by Tiger Electronics.
"California anomalous zone" Oh, so regular California then. We don't have a Donut shop every few steps but we do have a Mcdonalds and Starbucks every few steps.
I lived in Cali until 2008, so a lot of Road Rash 3D especially the road network felt really familiar. Especially the rolling hilly areas. Really all that's missing is windmills.
I first played Road Rash 3D in '98... So long ago! got sidetracked by Quake 3 or something like that and forgot all about it...for over twenty-three years!!! Finally went back during COVID and picked up where I left off, this game has somehow aged incredibly well, or maybe the whole industry has gone to shit.... It is just so damn fun, the racing is janky and often hilarious. the world is huge and gorgeous, not ugly and apocalyptic at all, and for me, even nostalgic. I can only say that I came to love all its various imperfections: I pretend those idiot pedestrians are zombies, I abandon races and drive around the map just for fun, sometimes I just watch youtube videos of the gameplay. Finally beating the last race really was a high point in my gaming career. SO much love for Road Rash 3D!!! They just don't make 'em like this anymore.
Know you don't have many subscribers right now but please keep putting out content like this I love these kind of reviews you're going in my great reviewers list up there with SSeth, Mandalore and of course Ross from accursed farms.
Late to the party, so I'll keep it brief. I gave this game a chance thanks to your review. Probably gonna have more to say after I'm done with it. ...but, the bikes all _feel_ heavy, but they steer like the whole map is beset by torrential rain. More than in any of the other games, you have to make SURE you stop holding down the gas BEFORE you brake- and try 2-3 tapping the brakes for tight turns. Once you've turned ALMOST as much as you wanted to, let go of the brakes and start accelerating again. The controls are _weirdly_ loose, but this is the way to do it. I always _worried_ in the other Road Rash titles, that braking and accelerating at the same time would have negative effects on your speed, steering or traction, but in this one, it's a _real_ concern.
Lol, I love hearing Snake in the background. Thanks for all the hard work on thesereviews, Spice. They're always a treat, thank you Mandalore for showing me this channel.
First, I've played this game a lot as a kid. Second, this review is actually Exactly how i still feel about this game. And Thirdly, because it's so good it is the first game that i didn't want to finish so i would still have it as a backlog to return to and continue experiencing new FMV's. so yeah, i still haven't finished Road Rash 3D.
I really should play the older Ace Combats, I swear I have played 2 and Armored Core 1 from back in the day but my memory is hazy. I do vividly remember trying and failing to be Soviet Strike though.
I feel it had to be deliberate with how engrained surf culture was in California during that period and how the games since Road Rash 3 onwards all played around with differing elevations a lot.
It ain't I have the script done, I just need to film it. And the intro is the biggest hurdle to get past, once I'm passed fucking with it it'll be smoother sailing. It's mainly Doc Mitchell, there's a lot of stuff I'm having to work around so nothing breaks
The original Road Rash is by far the best. Has those sick ass videos, the bike shop and menu's have that 90's feel you like, and the music is better. And the gameplay is better. And it looks better. plz review, your reviews are the best
Man i agree so much with the sponge cookie part of this video haha. I played this as a kid, it was a weird frustating mess, but winning a race was kinda hard and cool as fuck as a kid. Also the music, videos and the felling of the combat was fun for the time.
Alright its finally done, I'm heading to work and I'll get to experience all the love and regret shared here after it.

Got NITRO'd at RASH HIGH
Rash High is a type of contact high I swear
If you think this being your only exposure to Road Rash is bad, my only exposure to Twisted Metal was an LCD game shaped like a flight stick by Tiger Electronics.
To be fair to the Tiger Electronic its probably better than Twisted Metal 4
Is that my boi tehsnakerer in the back?
Also this game looked much better in my head. Time has not been kind
They joined me on the roadtrip

My friend and I played this and Twisted Metal 3 a lot when they were released. I'm still listening to the soundtracks today.
Glad to see you made it out of the exclusion zone safely D.R.I.V.E.R.

With that many donut shops, this must be the world where that Adventure Captalist game takes place
Seeing those cutscenes while hungover is a religious experience.
that one part of sponge cookie made me immediately think of God Hand.
I love motorbikels.

[Friend from Wales watches the intro]
"...Is that wut America is like!?"
Me: "Yeah, sure."
The thing that Road Redemption misses for me is the sense of weight or friction. It doesn't feel like I'm riding something with tires on a road...
this is what i love about gta4 and i feel like ppl hated on it because they just didnt want to learn how to drive properly with the weight
Lol, I love hearing Snake in the background. Thanks for all the hard work on thesereviews, Spice. They're always a treat, thank you Mandalore for showing me this channel.
You're welcome hope to have a new video here real soon.
"And nothing is straight in the Bay area" 🤣

so yeah, i still haven't finished Road Rash 3D.
Fourthly, I love Torque (2003) because of this game.
Fifthly, The days were better if you played Road Rash 3D and after that play Ace Combat 2.
I really should play the older Ace Combats, I swear I have played 2 and Armored Core 1 from back in the day but my memory is hazy.

that observation about sponge cookie's guitar riff is very good, an interesting way to think about it when listening to it or composing new music
I feel it had to be deliberate with how engrained surf culture was in California during that period and how the games since Road Rash 3 onwards all played around with differing elevations a lot.
Oh man, I loved the road rash games on genesis
_c o u r i e r ' s_

This better not be a throwaway joke, cause I'm already hyped

It's mainly Doc Mitchell, there's a lot of stuff I'm having to work around so nothing breaks
One of you funniest vids so far
You sold me on the patreon with the idolmaster review.
So it IS working?
God I fucking love you for using Turning Japanese. Such an underrated song
The major thing I remember from this game is that if you wheelie over an oncoming car with a low nose you will ramp it
never stop
This was amazing to watch
Don't play Idolmaster. It's a long road that never ends.
I don't think it'll grab me, its not up any of my alleys. It'll be a one and done thing and I have a resource weeb feeding me which one I should play.
@@SpicyChickenGodAJ I would recommend the newer ones as they push more for a rhythm style game and not a true idol management game

thank you spicy
Rash High your getting schooled

Me too man, me too...
Damn. I can't help to stop laughing at every head-on collision with a car, I just start laughing.
edit: the 11:05 is the funniest bit.

Subbed!

road rash jailbreak is better
Terrible compared to OG
so sad that SCG died of ligma....
The first time I played this game I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
I was 5.
Still is the coolest shit
Honestly the intro to the game is hella sickk
I'm glad I'm not the only one who browsed the whole track while in Time trial mode.
Man i agree so much with the sponge cookie part of this video haha.
