Like 353 hi Mish, the fish you saw jumping are most likely eating particles of food that you raised with the metal detector and the sand scoop, the 1902 coin is amazing 😍 all the best and good luck
Good hunting Mish. I was interested to see how you got on with the Legend. Don't think I will be taking mine into the sea. It's a bit cold over here in the UK. I will look forward to seeing your further adventures 👍
Thanks Gary. It's certainly very stable in the wet, even when running fairly hot. I need to take it to a 'modern' spot with greater target density and see how it fares. The water temp here is about 17C at the moment, gets down to around 11 in winter so I do need a wetsuit on for most of the year! Cheers.

Happy New Year Mish. 🎉 Congrats on the British half penny, Found an 1898 Queen Victoria large cent in Michigan, USA a couple of years ago. Hi Mish, you seem to have the perfect headset to match your Legend. some neat finds and I agree the British Hallfpenny was a good one. Looking forward to the next hunt. I wish you and yours a very Heathy and Happy New Year.🍾
This headset performed well for me on the Equinox so I was happy to stick with what I knew, on land however I prefer the comfiest and most well padded headset possible. 😂 happy new year Roy!
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family Mish- I hope 2023 is filled with fun, laughter and adventures - 1902 half penny and beach hunt is a super way to bring in the new year ! 🎉
G day mish hope you and your family have had a lovely Christmas day brilliant video as all ways thanks for 2022 hope that you all have a lovely new year and see you in the new year.
Great beach finds! Gotta love old coins. Maybe even better than the sinkers. I wish you would give us your thoughts on the Legend compared to the Deus 2 when you have formed an opinion. How does it swing and feel weight and comfort wise? Recovery speed and depth?Seems to be a highly rated detector with a reasonable price. Wish you a prosperous and Happy New Year! Cheers.
How about I give you my initial opinion right now? D2 feels much lighter and would be more comfortable to swing for long periods, Legend is heavier (note: I have also been using an 11" coil on the Legend and only 9" on the D2), however the Legend is also more rugged and I believe it'd win a durability battle between the two machines. I haven't been tweaking recovery speed on the Legend yet, it has been good in it's default settings and feels on par with the Equinox, D2 reactivity (as they call it) is blisteringly fast and recovers well even on a slower setting - I often run my Deus park and beach programs on a reactivity setting of 1 and can still pick between targets. Happy New Year :)
Catfish, pogies, maybe, I usually see those fish in the morning in Louisiana making that gentle tap. At least until speckled trout start ripping through.😅
Cheers Scott! They're a simple yet effective product, I normally prefer headphones with more padding when on land/sand however in the case of a waterproof headset, I just want it to work and sound good while not being too expensive. The equivalent set on the Equinox worked well for me. :)
Hello Mish. You have the same setup I have, from SITO scoop to the Legend detector. The Legend works just as well as my Equinox 600, in the beach water.
Thank you (as always) for another fun video! Happy to see you being able to get back in the water on such a beautiful looking day. When I was in the US Coast Guard, we would describe that ocean condition as “F.A.C.” (Flat-A$$ Calm). Absolutely loved having to do my job on those days! Happy New Year to you and your family and looking forward to vicariously learning about the Legend! Cheers, Dennis 👍🏻😁🍺🍺
I am so pleased that you chose the Legend! It is my choice for a second machine. Thanks for sharing your experiences with yours! I doubt I’ll ever get in the water with mine being in Kansas. 😂 Happy New Year Mish!!!! Love your channel!
@@DirtFishMish We have reservoirs, but they are rather muddy. Most of the time one can’t see 1 foot down given the silt. I know of a town that had to be relocated, but I can’t imagine diving into 20 feet of water just to see nothing! I’ll just dirt fish…😉
Thanks Mel! We are lucky not to have the iron core in ours, I suspect the salt water was interfering a little though another viewer has said potentially my 5c pieces were tilted sidewards and this can sound a little jumpier on the Legend than the Equinox at the moment. Time will tell :)
Love your channel. Thanks for taking me on your Christmas detecting outing…from California, USA. Btw, I’m heading for a 2 week detecting vacation to Hawaii tomorrow. Yippee!
Yes that’s about as warm as we get in our water here, so I’m conditioned to it! Too cold for many visitors though, and so our water often contains less finds (both new and historic) than the sand areas. I’ll still do a lot of water hunting over summer as it just feels so good to be out there and there’s always the chance of older treasures. 😊
Nice hunt Mish. Congrats on the Eddie penny. 120 years old. All a learning curve. Playing with a 900 at the moment. Just digging repeatable targets. Happy new year mate 😁😁😁👍
I hear that, anything somewhat repeatable was getting dug to learn what the Legend was telling me. Signals are always a little wacky in the salt regardless. Cheers mate, HNY to you both :)
Hi Mish. I’m looking for another detector over my equinox as I don’t dare to submerge it! I’ll be sure to keep an eye on you Nokta. How are you finding in comparison to your equinox? Also the camera quality and audio is fantastic.
G'day Jeff! I had the same hesitations, I would take the Equinox into gentle conditions but tended to avoid the surf and strong currents that would increase the surrounding water pressure. The Legend is so very stable in the water that I have to scan my scoop occasionally to check it is still working. 'Clean' dry sand works well in multi-dry, I'm still testing it in black sand areas as the multi-dry seems more chatty than Equinox's Beach 1 in these zones but I have noticed that changing over to multi-wet seems to calm it down here. Thanks for the comment on the camera and audio, I'm very fussy about the audio and a lot of work goes on in the editing process to make it so clear! 😂 Cheers. :)
Hi Mish, please tell me where you bought your scoop from? Also, in other videos you use a little spade to dig your targets, please tell me where you bought both these items, thanks.
Hi Heather! My scoop is from sitoscoop.com and my digging tools are by Tyger Stainless Steel :) I keep a list of most of my gear at dirtfishmish.com/gear - let me know if anything is missing (I haven't added the Nokta Legend and it's accessories on there yet but I will soon). Cheers :)
More to come! Refraction as in the light affecting videography, or factors affecting the signals? Stability of the multi-wet beach mode in the water is phenomenal though the targets themselves were occasionally a little jumpy (there is iron scrap in the area though, could be a factor). Certainly dig-worthy signals at either rate. :)
@@ausfox8794 ahh righto. Yeah everything is magnified and distorted a little bit, you might notice when I initially get a signal that I place the coil down flat, align my toes with the back of the coil and then I know where to pop the scoop in. Definitely going more by feel than by visuals :)
@@scoutingforhistory4584 no crocs where I am as I’m too far south and it is too cold for them. Sharks, yes, though not in this shallow area - I have encountered a few on my dives. Plenty of stingrays around though! I have a playlist of diving adventures with my Nemo hookah system and you’ll see a lot of the local marine life in those: ua-cam.com/play/PLQ1Al7Yqbk8xox5svbrp9uUIcd5AwO5ye.html
Hi @DirtFishMish, I really enjoy your channel. How do you rate the LS Pelso waterproof headphones for the Legend? I havent found many reviews on them. Would you still reccomend them? I looking for headphones to use in the surf and shallow water diving.
Hi Craig! A little background on my use of LS Pelsos - this is the second pair I've owned, my first pair were for the Equinox and I bought them to replace the Koss headset which is the one Minelab recommends. They're a little louder than the Koss and also the headband is more ergonomic - they're not as cushy and padded as some other brands but I think the performance vs. price balance is right. For wading, they are excellent. They will be quieter underwater as the water pressure impedes upon the speaker's ability to transmit sound clearly, so I recommend switching to 2-tone (or at least higher tones) if you use them underwater. (I must admit, the bone conduction headphones of the Deus II are significantly better which is why I always choose the D2 for dive detecting.) I hope that helps!!
Hi Mish, great videos and glad to see you enjoying the search for shines. My question to you is How has the Nokta performed? And has it met all your expectations in a detector? Cheers HH
Thanks Harry, the search is more important than the finds to me, it's a great way to clear the mind of troubles! For it's price point, the Legend is proving to be an incredible machine, and in particular I'm very impressed with the multi-wet frequency option in the Beach mode. It's so very stable and I can run it hotter than I would the Equinox in comparable situations. Multi-dry seems more chattery than the 'nox in Beach 1 for me, but I need to investigate this a little further. Park mode (M1 only tried so far) is good, I think I like the extra nuances in audio that the Deus II provides over it but I wouldn't complain if it were the only detector I could take on the day. Beach video coming next weekend, I think you'll be impressed with how it went. Cheers Harry :)
@@DirtFishMish Thanks for your time to reply. Interesting the price has dropped to just over 1k do price is interesting but for me as well its getting out. Cheers
Wise choice with the legend....everyones hyping the nox900, but ive seen air depth tests between the 800 and 900 and exact same...the only different things on the 900 are red display, flashlight, vibration and new vdi range 1 thru 99 which i dont see any advantage of that......the manticore on the other hand seems extremely pricey. $1600 usd. Will have to see further tests but as of now i dont see any advantage... i like the legend as an alternative underwater detector .
The 900 has definitely made improvements on a lot of the flaws of the 800, I didn’t like the red backlight colour however I do like a wider ID range, my Deus 2 has a similar range and it has been helpful to tell targets apart that would’ve previously shared the same number on the Equinox. Not as necessary in a beach environment though, as I will dig iffy signals in the sand anyway. 😊 The Legend has been wonderfully stable for me in the water, I’m really enjoying my time with it and it’s priced at a point that I’m not scared to take it into the water, our Australian service centre told me they’ve never had to service one for water intrusion since the Legend launched a year ago. 😊
Thanks scrappy! This coin is bronze, so a copper alloy. The dark patina here is often caused by elements in the clay in this area, many of the coins I find in this spot have an almost oily look to them. I think this coin would be a good candidate for restoration which I might try at some point in the future. Cheers! 😊
I was using a wired waterproof headset 😊 I demonstrate it near the end of the video. It uses the same port as the charging cable. When I’m not planning to submerge the machine I’d just use the wireless headset. Cheers 😊
Thanks Robert! He's actually in several of the older videos, here's an example (wow my editing has come a long way 😆): ua-cam.com/video/OHPbUINxkUM/v-deo.html I generally film on the days that he is at work and my child at school, so that we get our days off together... however as he's on holidays at the moment, there's a chance he could show up in some upcoming videos if I can convince him to come detecting! 😊 Cheers.
Hi Dawid! They're called 'Snake Skinz'. The one I'm using in this video is the 'Batskin' colour. Here's a link, hope it helps! :) www.detect-ed.com/products/snake-skinz-wire-sleeves?ref=3
Hi Glenn, I can’t advise your ‘best’ settings as everyone’s ground is different, but this answer should be applicable to most modern machines. Start by picking the mode best suited to your terrain (park, beach etc). If beach, pick either the dry or wet mode as required, Park just start off in the M1 mode until you know how they vary. Adjust your sensitivity to the highest point that it is stable (ie, not chattering and causing false sounds when the detector is still). You will want to read your manual on how to noise cancel your machine, especially if you are detecting near power lines, Wi-Fi signals or other detectorists. Do this before you start swinging. Once you are confident with this, look into things such as recovery speed, ground balancing to further dial your machine in to the ground you’re swinging on. I hope that helps 😊
I will definitely try out the Legend in a park soon, I want to see how it performs there! I sometimes detect around sports fields, but not on the fields themselves at it would not be polite or safe to dig holes on the playing surface. Cheers Oscar :)
Hello, I'm Brazilian, I have a The Legend, I just bought it. I would like to know where you bought your sand scoop, if you can pass the link I would appreciate it. I started to follow you. With all due respect, it's a sweet compliment, you're very beautiful. good hunts.

I’ve had similar results with at least three other machines in this area, there’s a lot of sand movement here and so some hunts are much better than others. If it’s finding 120 year old coins I’m happy with that 😉 happy hunting!

@@DirtFishMish We have reservoirs, but they are rather muddy. Most of the time one can’t see 1 foot down given the silt. I know of a town that had to be relocated, but I can’t imagine diving into 20 feet of water just to see nothing!
I’ll just dirt fish…😉
Nice one Mish. Greets from Belgium.
Greetings! 🇦🇺🦘
Nice video Mish. I have in NZ that our 10, 20 and 50 cent pieces are jumpy signals, it is due to the iron core.
Thanks Mel! We are lucky not to have the iron core in ours, I suspect the salt water was interfering a little though another viewer has said potentially my 5c pieces were tilted sidewards and this can sound a little jumpier on the Legend than the Equinox at the moment. Time will tell :)
A very merry Christmas to you in a very Best of the new year
And to you :)
Hello my friends, very good video and land 🙋♂️🇨🇱🤝⛏️👍👏🇺🇸
Love your channel. Thanks for taking me on your Christmas detecting outing…from California, USA. Btw, I’m heading for a 2 week detecting vacation to Hawaii tomorrow. Yippee!
Enjoy your holiday (sounds amazing) and happy hunting!!
Hope you had a Happy Christmas!
Happy New Year Mish.
Happy new year!
Ciao Mish grande un abbraccio forte dalla Sicilia è auguri di buone feste 💪💪💪👍
Nice finds mish. Cant miss those sinkers though.
Sinkers are an essential part of the equation. 😂 happy new year mate!

17-20 DEGREES: Summer swimming….
Still fresh on entry, but comfortable picnic lazy-hazy summer swimming.
So cold here🥶🇨🇦
Yes that’s about as warm as we get in our water here, so I’m conditioned to it! Too cold for many visitors though, and so our water often contains less finds (both new and historic) than the sand areas. I’ll still do a lot of water hunting over summer as it just feels so good to be out there and there’s always the chance of older treasures. 😊
that half penny is an amazing find well done Mish👏👏
Thank you!
Cheers.
Cheers :)
@@DirtFishMish Thanks so much for this Mish, this is great.
Happy New year 🎉 mish
And to you!!
Enjoyed that! What mount/camera do you use to record video?
Do you a setting for snorkeling in the sea?
It's looking good there girl
It was so peaceful!
Thanks for sharing your water detecting. Was there any issues with water refraction?
More to come! Refraction as in the light affecting videography, or factors affecting the signals? Stability of the multi-wet beach mode in the water is phenomenal though the targets themselves were occasionally a little jumpy (there is iron scrap in the area though, could be a factor). Certainly dig-worthy signals at either rate. :)
I was meaning the view as you look down into the water from above, what you see can be distorted slightly @@DirtFishMish
@@ausfox8794 ahh righto. Yeah everything is magnified and distorted a little bit, you might notice when I initially get a signal that I place the coil down flat, align my toes with the back of the coil and then I know where to pop the scoop in. Definitely going more by feel than by visuals :)
Glad you're enjoying your Legend, it's an amazing detector.
Maybe all the little fish were trying to get away from something bigger... 😮😮😮
Thank you! Hmm I wonder if they were scared of me, or something else?? 😂
@@DirtFishMish over here in the states we imagine the water surrounding Australia is full of giant sharks. Or crocodiles. Or both ...
@@scoutingforhistory4584 no crocs where I am as I’m too far south and it is too cold for them. Sharks, yes, though not in this shallow area - I have encountered a few on my dives. Plenty of stingrays around though! I have a playlist of diving adventures with my Nemo hookah system and you’ll see a lot of the local marine life in those:

Your videos are great to watch. Where did you get the carbon rod for the scoop?
Thank you! From sitoscoop.com 😊
$1600 usd. Will have to see further tests but as of now i dont see any advantage... i like the legend as an alternative underwater detector
.
The Legend has been wonderfully stable for me in the water, I’m really enjoying my time with it and it’s priced at a point that I’m not scared to take it into the water, our Australian service centre told me they’ve never had to service one for water intrusion since the Legend launched a year ago. 😊
Happy Christmas and new year to you! Sweet coin, what’s that sucker made out of? Copper? Looks like a dark patina. Quality vids nice lady.
Thanks scrappy! This coin is bronze, so a copper alloy. The dark patina here is often caused by elements in the clay in this area, many of the coins I find in this spot have an almost oily look to them. I think this coin would be a good candidate for restoration which I might try at some point in the future. Cheers! 😊
@@DirtFishMish Thanks, it did look like bronze, it’s yours now so you can clean it up or anything you want!

Same to you Peter 😊
Estou louco pra adquirir um detector desse , não vejo a hora de poder comprar o meu 🙏
Just ordered mine! Can’t wait
I thought your charging cap was off but then I saw the wire, so guessing you had the extra battery attached?
I was using a wired waterproof headset 😊 I demonstrate it near the end of the video. It uses the same port as the charging cable. When I’m not planning to submerge the machine I’d just use the wireless headset. Cheers 😊
Casada top parabéns muito bom é acistir seus vídeos ainda mais com essa macna de detector meu sonho de consumo 😊
Great video Mish, when are we going to see your hubby in a video.
Thanks Robert! He's actually in several of the older videos, here's an example (wow my editing has come a long way 😆): ua-cam.com/video/OHPbUINxkUM/v-deo.html
I generally film on the days that he is at work and my child at school, so that we get our days off together... however as he's on holidays at the moment, there's a chance he could show up in some upcoming videos if I can convince him to come detecting! 😊 Cheers.
Entrou água?
what is the name of the cover for your cable? :D
Hi Dawid! They're called 'Snake Skinz'. The one I'm using in this video is the 'Batskin' colour. Here's a link, hope it helps! :) www.detect-ed.com/products/snake-skinz-wire-sleeves?ref=3
Coins on edge can be a little jumpy on the Legend.
Good to know, very likely the case here then! I’ll have to compare it to land coins this week and see if the 5c is more stable there. Cheers Roger 😊
Sito scoop?
Yup, the 200mm mixed hole version!
Boa tarde amiga feliz ano novo de muita saúde em 2023
Possible that the tiny brass button you found may have been a rivet off of a pair of jeans. Maybe?
Definitely a button and not a rivet in this case, though the star design is something I'd expect to find on jeans. :)
Very nice hunting sir
Muito boa a caçada eu comprei um the legend também e estou amando o aparelho muito bom abraço bom achados
I am glad you are enjoying the Legend as well! Happy hunting :)
Hi I’m lost every one is different I’m getting lost what is the best settings I’m in brisbane
@@DirtFishMish hi thank you that help me very much.
Regards.
Glenn.
Ps I try to watch your utub as much as I can good job.

Can you do Metal detecting in a park or football field or something an your the greatest Chanel on UA-cam pls answer my question
I will definitely try out the Legend in a park soon, I want to see how it performs there! I sometimes detect around sports fields, but not on the fields themselves at it would not be polite or safe to dig holes on the playing surface. Cheers Oscar :)
Bonne année
Drop the tone break in first segment to about 7 to pick up Tiny gold, threshold about 11, love my Legend

Hello, I'm Brazilian, I have a The Legend, I just bought it. I would like to know where you bought your sand scoop, if you can pass the link I would appreciate it. I started to follow you. With all due respect, it's a sweet compliment, you're very beautiful. good hunts.

Are you scared if thare sharks in the water
I dive around sharks, most of the species around here are non-aggressive unless threatened and rarely come up into the super shallow water.
Here’s a dive where I come across a shark 😊 ua-cam.com/video/QGvhx0QhOdc/v-deo.html

I’ve had similar results with at least three other machines in this area, there’s a lot of sand movement here and so some hunts are much better than others. If it’s finding 120 year old coins I’m happy with that 😉 happy hunting!
