The future is already here. Unitree Robotics is making humanoid robots for 16,000$.

who exactly is going to buy their products if they replace all the jobs with robots and ai , no employees also means no customers........ a very large majority of jobs are service based.... that's your customer base

Exactly you cannot perish a customer and make money from them

It will also cause a financial crisis for the banking sector that heavily invested in property at the same time a financial crisis for governments.
I find it ironic that elon wants more children, yet he is working very hard to displace humans. Both physically and intellectually. Humanity may well go back to below 1 billion people. Which IT was for much of human existence.

It is not in people's strengths to be able to really assess situations with a lot of changes in the long term. Either they shit their pants and become aggressively resistant to change, or they ignore all warnings and head straight for doom. We lack foresight and sensitivity that changes are urgently needed, but the sudden actions must stop.
I am convinced that robots will be an extremely useful addition, but I would first start by equipping the areas in which people are currently being harmed. (health)

People think that jobs will transform into other jobs, like they did in previous industrial revolutions. The problem is that this industrial revolution is different in that the disruptive technology will be able to think and reason like a human. It will be able to do anything a human could do (eventually), which means that eventually any new job that was created would also be taken over by AI.
I think we're going to have to redefine what it means to work and earn income in the near future. OpenAI just announced their newest model o3 has passed the 3rd party ARC AGI benchmark test, and it's doubled in its coding capabilities as well as getting near perfect scores in math. It won't be long before white collar jobs start to vanish, the only holdback right now is reliability. That will come, I believe, when AI gains the ability to learn on-the-fly. Then it can gain what humans call experience and understanding. When that happens... the sky's the limit.

This. Grok is in training too. The greatest threat to laborers didn't register as a concern during the presidential campaign. The benchmark score is measured against Homo Sapiens best and brightest. I believe Sam interrupted the presentation when it was suggested o3 has the capacity to self improve.

@@tearlelee34 and Grok is a game changer in that it can support an order of magnitude increase in computing power than was ever believed possible. Every time we've increased AI training by an order of magnitude, we've seen new emergent behaviors. We're already seeing hints that AI is starting to express untrained opinions and desires, and it's even lying to prevent itself from being retrained (aka killed from the AI perspective.) It will be interesting to see what emergent behaviors we see in Grok when it's finished.

@@BruceWayne15325 The self preservation emergent behavior is a lot to unpack. The deceptive capabilities are disconcerting. All of the models were able to scheme. The real concern for me is scaling. Its as if people are not grasping the implications of Colossus. Elon is already raising funding for the next iteration. Talks of an AI winter ❄️ seems like ancient history. Cognitive dissonance is a plague.

Tax each robot the equivalent of what a human would cost a company a year. $60K human salary = $60k in robo tax. That money then could go to a fund for unemployment or displaced worker.

I prefer the term "artificial human". (Bishop, from the movie Aliens).

“Learn to code” - oh wait, software development is already turning into a minimum wage job… I know CS graduates in the UK who earn less than the average UK income and salaries are rapidly falling due to supply/demand dynamics and LLMs (AI) taking over the vast majority of the coding… 😅

Most of the world operates under Mob Rule. Governments need to please the majority in a bid to maintain peace, harmony and a functioning society. People should not fear machines but place their trust in the power of Mob Rule. There will be changes in how we work and how we play over the next decade or two. We should not fear, fear itself, as the expression goes, but know that power is always in the hands of a united people.

Fast fashion even faster? Oh joy. And where will all this stuff go after being worn a handful of times? It's already a problem now. More waste and nowhere to go.

Where are the laborers. It's so infuriating. Elon didn't mention anything about UBI or profit sharing. Grok is in training. Open AI demo O3 for Christmas as if the news was s gift for laborers.
