I love the subtlety. The older brother was obviously trying to keep him busy so he wouldn't sulk, but it's never directly stated. The main character isn't even aware of it in retrospect. The knee joint fusion engine is a stroke of genius by the way.
Thanks, greyghost! It seems like that's how many great discoveries happen in life, luck + making weird connections that nobody else could if it hadn't been for that unfortunate ski crash they once had.
I stumbled here randomly, and have spent the last few days binge listening to all of your stories. This is incredible work. Really really incredible. I feel like I’m having a privileged early glimpse into a great career. 👏
Wow, Robin. Humbled. Such kind words, and I'm so glad you're enjoying. It's a privilege on my end every time a story connects with another person, and I too hope there are many many more stories to come! That's what I aspire to most!
Just listening to the growth of his library of writings is a joy and a privilege. It’s fun to anticipate what’s next and still enjoy stories I’ve already read or heard. I’m certain that Rowe will be counted among those we call the greats in less time than one might think. Though I’d remind everyone that overnight success takes years of hard work to achieve. 😮
Hit home a little with this story Rowe thought about when my knee got destroyed had to put my love of riding aside and look to my future. Thank you for taking the time to make these stories as thay make my work days much more better
Thanks, samual. That's honestly the best I can ever hope to do is help to make somebody's day better. Genuinely appreciate that compliment 🙏 Makes all the work worth it!
Where do you get all the wisdom? Skill I guess is from education, hard work and practice, talent - maybe blessed, but I work in a seniors' home which is overflowing with wisdom and I feel like I'm listening to them talking collectively about the world. Well whatever the source, be it nano-tech that slows aging, an extraterrestrial or astral muse or maybe you're a collective being, please keep it up!
I appreciate the compliment, but I'm not sure how to answer that, M. That's a bit hard to self-assess (or even accept). I did have a lot of exposure to the WWII generation of Americans when I was young, and they certainly left an impression on me. But I also studied Classics in college. There's probably no greater source for the collective wisdom of humanity than ancient history and mythology. That definitely has an influence on what/how I write. You want to read wise, read Thucydides, Aeschylus, or Ovid. Even writing those names puts me right back in my place 😀
I am 52 and missed the downhill D Team when I was 17. Missed it by one race then got fed up and moved to Florida. Zermatt is a cool town under the Matahorn. (Spelling).
Zermatt is a cool town, EdP. Sorry to hear you missed by that little. I had a friend with a similar story who then got heavy into waterskiing and ended up leading the Sea World waterski team for many years.
I subscribed after listening to the first story I heard. It was only a few weeks ago, and some times I don't get it listened to right away, but I've enjoyed the ones I've heard.
I know what you mean! Feels like the wisdom is just beyond reach. Maybe I need to mature a bit first. I thought I was pretty mature at 52 but I guess I have a ways to go. We'll just have yo keep listening. 😁
🤣Thanks, Louis! Even I don't even know what's coming each week. I do know next week, though. More Misfits with a special guest appearance from at least one other old friend 🤔🤔🤔
On a side note unless something has changed the lowest pointed racers go first (lowliest is fastest) w the highest pointed last out of the gate on single races like super g and dh. If she was just qualifying she likely would start mid to end of the field. For men it sucks bc all the girls go before the top guy and if you were deep in the men’s field the course is trash.
Love your stories! Your voice actors are great too! Just found you randomly about a week ago. I always thought Issac's material would be great stuff for stories! What a great collab! Maybe a big studio movie someday! or a series...
I have an idea.... (Bet you hear that a lot!). You know how we can use huge, massive objects as gravitational lense to see further..... I wonder if light can be slingshot around to be sent back to its source, creating a cosmic mirror..... We could look at our region of space as it was in the past....however many light years away our mirror is, times two for the round trip.....
Thanks, Observer! The voice actor(s) 😃are the same guy, who admittedly is frenetically multifaceted at times, but all still the same guy as the author. Sometimes I do feel like I have multiple personalities, though 😂I'd love to see some adaptations someday too, but in the meantime, just gonna keep writing.
@@theobserver9131 Interesting idea 🤔I'm definitely not a physicist and could be totally wrong, but wouldn't that send the light you are sending out at the moment back at you millions of years later like a super long distance video selfie? There's definitely a plot for that, though 😃
@@RoweLit Yes, the light you send out would take time...depending on the distance; One light year away = one year each way, so two years total. one year to the massive object, and one year return. So it would basically be a time machine, like our telescopes are. We see no objects as they are now. We see them as they were when the photons began their journey. 100 light years away; one hundred years in the past.....one million light years away, one million years in the past.... So, in the case of a "cosmic mirror", we would double that time to account for the round trip. If there was a Cosmic Mirror 100 million light years away, we would be seeing light that left our region 200 million years in the past.
It wouldn't have to be a massive object I suppose...that's just the only thing I could think of that might function as a Cosmic Mirror. I'm sure you have a huge number of folks who know a lot more than I do who could come up with some phenomena or mechanism that might do the job. It would have to be something that has existed already, not something we make and deliver many light years away.....unless we invoke FTL travel, but in that case, we wouldn't need the mirror....
I was waiting for the sci part of the fiction, but found myself ao invested that I too was cheering for your sister. What happened with the engine, and the Austrian girl 😉?
Thanks, ZAK! Glad to hear it! The engine I know for sure--it's a major element in my upcoming novel "The Lifeboat," but as far as Gio and Anda go, it seems like the ball is his court 🙂
Thanks, George! This comment immediately reminded me of the great Tom Papa: "Have you ever been disappointed by Rowe? I have." 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, though, I'm glad you're enjoying! 😃🙏

Mark CEN CA 😢 on this PE dang 😂
P E Rowe has a real talent for character development and relationships.
Thanks, Alistair😃

It's fun to hear a scfi story staged in the Clearwater/Tampa bay area! Lived there off and on for 30+ years.
I’ve primarily listened to the misfits books and a few others but thought I’d give this one a go. Did not disappoint. Superb.
Thanks, Leon! Glad you liked it 😃

I have been trying to express this exact sentiment for the past three days, well said!

I can see you skiing... blurry 'cause I been cuttin' onions.

@@meb668 Well, I am nearing 70 and admit that maturity is sometimes still out of reach.
Thank you for another great story!
Thanks Todd!
Oh man!!! I need more!!!
Great job, as usual!
Thanks, Lisa!
Awesome story. Thank you!
Thanks, IOp13! I really appreciate the support and so glad you enjoyed this one!
Very good but I was expecting sci fi not a ski story. Lol. I was disappointed it ended.
🤣Thanks, Louis! Even I don't even know what's coming each week. I do know next week, though. More Misfits with a special guest appearance from at least one other old friend 🤔🤔🤔

I was banking on a few changes over the next 90 years, Ed 😂 Who knows, though. Skiers tend to be traditionalists.
Powerful story.

Thanks, David! 😃
Mark CEN CA never heard this one not the MISFITS but still my cup of tea 😂
There's a lot of stories now!
