This song has been in motion for 18 months or so, with versions bounced back and forth a hundred times over. Sometimes you write a song about one thing, but by the time it sees the light of day, the raw feelings have evolved and the song challenges its own existence. It took honest conversations about why any of this matters to feel confident enough that it was time.
Hurricane is a nod to the past, a cautious step towards an unknown future, and an honest, heartfelt acknowledgement of the present. What’s next is still without shape or certainty, but the wheels are turning.
This is the first step.

I’m bound up and broken, caught out in the open, tape over my mouth, with so much left unsaid. Like gathering thunder, we spoke over each other, now strangers tied to opposite sides of the bed.
You say that I’m careless, unkind and defensive, when all I want is someone there to hold me close. I don’t mean to be heartless,
I’m trying my hardest to think before I speak, but I’m voiceless…
I’ll bide my time, watch the hurricane blow by and the clouds run dry. I’ll bite my tongue, and hold on ’til my hands go numb or the quiet comes.
Soaked through to my skin but I don’t feel any different.
I’m a shivering mess of doubt and recklessness.
I know it’s my fault I’m stuck out here in the cold but it’s hard letting go of what I wish you’d said

White-knuckled, nails torn from grasping the boards as the storm rages inside of me. Opened my mouth, tried to force something out, but I’m just too exhausted to speak.

Please release a remastered version of Ground Dweller. That album was fire!
Their magnum opus in my opinion, that album dropped and it was immediately on repeat for me.
Ground dweller was a master piece. Every single song was awesome not many albums I like all the songs. that was one of few.
Their first two albums were great. Their third album was decent. Then they went downhill with their fourth album and third EP. Going soft didn't make them bigger but made their fanbase way smaller. Their original sound already had mainstream appeal because it was a nice balance between hardcore and pop-like catchiness.
They should have tried to perform on some late-night shows in the US/UK or open up for bigger bands on tour. They seriously had potential to blow up on mainstream.
Hooonestly. It sounds so thin when I know the bass can be boosted and Trenton's voice a bit clearer amidst all the chaos.

as for me, i wouldn't call it creative (Unimagine has it in spades, like poems turned to songs, see A Tale of Outer Suburbia), but this really is full of heart, which is what I love most about HLH.

And....... Trenton is no longer in the band 😢😢😢. Sad that this will be the last new song with his vocals/voice that we get from this version of the band. They're supposed to continue without Trenton but it'll never be the same. I hope Trenton finds a better band. I will continue to follow Trenton wherever he goes but honestly won't be following HLH after this!! Sounds like Trenton was forcefully forced out of the band. The rest of the band wouldn't even let Trenton have a final show or nothing - they told him No!!! What?! I'll listen to all their older material but I won't follow the band after Trenton's Departure!!
Listen to the new song... It sounds so generic, it's so painful to see a band that was amazing because they stood out and because of their lyrics turn around completely and produce the most generic music ever

The lead singer is what makes the band. So they will fail without him.
The boys are back, and they sound very different, wow... I like it a lot, very glad to see Trenton using the full range of his amazing voice again, keep it up :)
They sound better this is their roots I couldn’t stand many of the songs after dissonants

I was starting to think you guys were gone for good! Every year I would talk about you guys with my bf and how you were one of my favorite bands to listen to. I'm so glad it seems you're starting to go back to your roots. It's really nice to see a ton of my bands I haven't heard from for years come back so suddenly
It wasn't by choice. Have you not seen their instagram at all? One of the member was falsely accused and it absolutely wrecked them. It's amazing that they've seem to have gotten through that horrible experience and are coming back at all.

@@vs_ta4267 That controversy surfaced in September 2021. Their music went downhill in 2018 when they put out their fourth album. HLH needs better management, these guys had mainstream appeal but wasted it by going soft and generic only to lose 90% of their listeners as a result.
@@poppinc8145 *in your opinion. And 90% is the most ridiculous statement ever. Even if that were accurate and true, I’d honestly rather see them do what they like and let whoever falls off fall off, than have a controlling label influence and chase mainstream. Another argument is: labels do tend to make bands get _softer_ and more accessible with each new album, in order to reach a wider audience or mainstream as you said, so another “management” would’ve likely resulted in a similar outcome. All that said, I just wish them to go on creating music, and figure out what the new HLH is, now that they’ve had time to reflect and the new music has been simmering.

When your favorite band realeases a new song, it's always a mix of emotions. Glad that something new came out, I waited a while to listen to this new song, in fear it would let me down and I'd lose that feeling I have for this band, that unexplainable feeling of connectedness with the music.
But I shouldn't have feared, they killed it as always. I love this band with all my heart, and can't wait for what the future holds ❤️
Unimagined remains my favourite album of all time, and Dissonants is also up there in the rankings. I liked a couple songs off Anon, but I felt like it was missing the artful lyrics and melodies I'd come to expect. This song fully delivers on that front, so I'm more than happy. Hands Like Houses is back, woo!

I’m absolutely certain it’s a callback. They’ve said Wisteria on Unimagine is actually a continuation of a theme from The Sower on Ground Dweller, so they’ve done this sort of thing before. “Unravel and unwind” is too specific of a phrase to be incidental to me, especially since other lyrics in the song fit with Introduced Species

Literally just found this band. Liked soo much of their stuff. Added them to my playlist. Googled them to find out they are an Aussie band from Canberra (yes, Canberra!) and that their lead singer Trent just left the band. From elated to devastated in a few short hours. Bugger.
