We have have Savant for 2 years and we love it. The problem is we haven’t figured out how to play iTunes on it. Since we have all of our music in iTunes.
Such a small cubed subwoofer packs punch. I'm currently running the klipsch 5.1 wisa system and the klipsch subwoofer is very weak compared to the savant. Glad I found your review

Just brought in Savant. Not in the least impressed. The supplier/installer insisted that it was all "intuitive" and it is not in the least "intuitive". Supposedly it functions along the line of your basic directory structure akin to basic operating systems in your computer but it doesn't seem that way ay all to me. Incredibly frustrating to say the least and I wish I'd never gone there.
honestly, this doesn't seem that great. I have almost every single thing listed here except its all being done through 1 app on my smart phone or google home. Ive also gone with sonos and samsung atmos for all room audio. Just start googling stuff you dont need a company like savant. I did this setup for way-way less and I have no giant server that im sure will become outdated or need potential maintenance. The one thing I'm not sure how they have done is the streaming of different sources from that rack. I.E one apple tv connecting content to multiple tvs without being next to it. Some sort of wireless HDMI? or in wall wiring I assume
I work in this industry, I have for 10 years, the fact that you are making any criticism about this, or stating that it isn't that great and that you can kind of do this with what you have, and then wondering how it's done, makes your argument completely invalid.
Adam J I stated that savant is a completely useless company. One can very easily do exactly what they have done in a simpler way with less equipment needed. The single and not really all that impressive aspect is the single source to multiple displays wirelessly which I did not understand. After about 5 min of googling I now understand how it's done. Re confirming that having said company do any of this is a complete waste of money
I will agree with you that you can control all of these things without Savant, that is true. Although I install this stuff, at my own house I have a mix of systems that I use, Vera, SmartThings, Sonos, Amazon Fire, because I tinker around with them and I have the knowledge to operate all of them and make them work with each other. What Savant brings to the table is a very polished single app interface that integrates all of your systems under one umbrella that makes it incredibly powerful and convenient to do very complex things with the equipment in the house. The customers I deal with don't want to have to know anything about technology, they just want it to work. This is the type of platform that you can bring to people who don't know and don't want to know how it all works or want to put effort into enjoying today's technology, they just want TVs on the wall, sound everywhere, control the lights, the ability to arm and disarm the security system, and control their HVAC all from one spot. Once the system is properly set up, the customer can literally take a "snapshot" of a particular room in the house or the entire house, save that as a scene and recall it from one button push or from voice control. The volume, the channel the TV is on, the level of the lights, everything. It is really cool once it's all set up, it comes at a premium price yes, and I think Savant is extremely out of bounds with the licensing fees that they charge, but some people want to pay for that and when they do they are rewarded with a really powerful home control system that is very user-friendly to operate. We also use control4 to do many of the same things, but it just doesn't have that same "luxury" feel that Savant does, the app is what sets it apart. It's just like cars, there are plenty of different ways to get from point A to point B, just depends what you want to use and how many luxury and convenience features you want.
He’s under the impression we currently have to switch from app to app to control our smarthome devices but that’s literally what HomeKit and Siri does for me, and it’s built in. 😂
If a closet has to look like an I.T. Dept. server room, to make things work it's too complicated. So much can go wrong with a setup like that over time. And then the homeowner either has to spend time trying to figure things out, or do without service until a call can be made to an outside provider, instead of spending time enjoying all their media!
Honestly, I know way too many nerds that have a rack like that in a spare closet. It’s easier to wire from one location than to pull from all over the house. I don’t have a rack, but I do have all my music, TV and movies at one central hub to stream throughout the house.
Also these systems are hosted in the house so they are highly secure. Also Savants "Smart Home Systems" are now available on Android devices dropping the cost by about a third. I integrated and programmed Racepoint blueprint for companies in Aspen CO. I was able to build advanced Savant Systems. Savant is far superior to any other system.

LaabNavNoyd it’s not, unless you want to distribute the video to multiple TVs. We added a separate blu Ray player to the TV in the family room in the cabinet. I don’t think there is a “perfect” Smart Home, like you point out. There’s going to be a hassle somewhere :)

Because you only played the music for a shortened period and don’t include any info in the video or in the notes here, I’ve got to ask here in the comments. What is the music used around the 38 second mark?
Coming from a professional that installs home assistant as well as the system described in the video, I got to say that each has their pros and cons, but home assistant isn't nearly as robust as professional AV automation equipment.
Anyone who has ever worked around rack shuddered at least a little bit when that wiring was shown and referred to a "professional". Nobody who takes any amount of pride in their work would leave that looking that way.
I don't get it. I have a smart home that is only a fraction of what this cost and it was easy to set up and configure or trouble shoot. Just too much for the same.

Ehh, not impressed. Samsung has the biggest smart home ecosystem not including their Smart Things hub. They have the TV, soundbar, rear speakers, phone, tablet, headphones, watch, Refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, dryer, oven, vacuum they even have a mesh wifi system. THEN you have the smartthings hub which allows you to use Ecobee Thermostat, Ring Doorbell, Arlo cameras, Bose sound system, Phillip's hue lighting, wemo smart light switches, ...The smartthings hub can also work with smart shades, smoke and carbon monoxide, trackers, and much much more.
From an personal experience, savant sucks and not remotely worth it IMO. Completely closed, proprietary and centralized - just to make sure you get locked into their ecosystem. Wake up, everything is moving to desensitized - for many good reasons
"so you don't have to have {the blu-ray player} next to the TV, so that's handy..." Handy isn't quite the word that came to my mind. Stupid... thats the word.
Ha ha. It's not stupid if you want to play that DVD on multiple TVs. A well designed smart home will be designed around the owner's lifestyle and needs.

evrythingallright I’m just trying to connect a 6 zones in ceiling speaker system that I can control from my phone (or two)
At the same time). There’s so much stuff and complicated, sounds kinda crazy to me in 2019...
Z-Wave and Fibaro.. full home control for a fraction of the price.
The fact that none If this is linked pisses me off
Sooooo the alexa app does this and I done need a rack. This was great 20 years ago now it just seems dated.
A) Araknis? Really? So many better options. B) that is awful cable management in the rack.
George Lockwood what are you afraid of Araknis for?
Nothing wrong with araknis.
So the point is that you need one platform to tie it all together to actually be good? Alexa and the Google Assistant do this already
Wats next smart microwave
amazon already sells it
Your electric bill must be very large.
Ya How much that part you left out.
Probably 30-60 grand
Yup I got quoted 30-50 for my 4000sq home and so far have done it for under $9,000
Backyard Mechanic 101 what do you have.
Smart Things hub and everything is automated Lights, Cameras, Door security etc. All voice activated as well. Moving to OpenHAB when time allows.
@@greatdeal1011 Why are you moving to OpenHAB? Presumably there's something you don't like about SmartThings? Just curious.
Nice ad.
Savant's GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE !!!!
install a server rack full of computers for that? ridiculous
From an personal experience, savant sucks and not remotely worth it IMO. Completely closed, proprietary and centralized - just to make sure you get locked into their ecosystem. Wake up, everything is moving to desensitized - for many good reasons
Savant is garbage that literally won’t let you play audio to anything other the cable tv that literally no one watches
How much did savant pay for this ad?
“Idiot proof”? Give it to a couple of marine privates and see if you would still call it idiot proof after one day
all that damn equipment!!! sheesh
Google home is going to make all these things accessible from their app
"so you don't have to have {the blu-ray player} next to the TV, so that's handy..." Handy isn't quite the word that came to my mind. Stupid... thats the word.
Ha ha. It's not stupid if you want to play that DVD on multiple TVs. A well designed smart home will be designed around the owner's lifestyle and needs.
Uh if I had room like that for a server room it would be full of crypto mining gear 🤨
And in 5 years all of that hardware will be obsolete and not work and be the size of a modem.
Bobby Croghan you’re an idiot
I LOVE!!!!
the only thing I was thinking... "people still have to say 'savant' to get attention on the internet?"

Worth
Really poor job blurring out the license plate
is it me or these "smart" home systems just over complicate everything.
Are you serious? There are products out there that allow you do the same with a lot less crap. Who even uses blue ray players any more? I have a 4k firestick that replaces most of all that BS....
Wow
Soon my friends... Soon. You will all be able to never leave your bed to do anything ever again. thanks to people like this for making people lazier... I can promise you. all these people's parents all had the clapper...
