I really liked how you talked about planning and not taking on too much work for the day. That was a great point, it made me realize that by planning less makes it seem easier to get things done. It may seem so easy that you even have more time to work on things not even planned since you didn't over schedule yourself for the day.
Definitely! It's easy to imagine that everything will go according to plan but things that seem simple end up taking twice as long. By planning for these situations, you can really set yourself up for success. And if everything does go according to plan, then you can get a head start on the next day
I love the videos... I will be done with my MSIT Software Engineering by June 2022 and plan on applying to Google in the NYC office. It looks like such a cool place to work. Google also looks like a grate place to learn a lot. If I get the job there, I plan on fully taking advantage of the classes they offer to add to my skill base. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks Matthew! Great choice - the NYC is my favorite Google office 😄👍. You can actually apply anytime, you don't have to wait until you graduate! Best of luck in your studies and on applying!
I live in Hartford, CT. I am originally from Albania! I enjoy watching your videos! 😄 I am an IT/Dev apprentice and I hope I can work for google one day, or just grow in my current company.
Hey! That's great 🇺🇸🇦🇱 you should definitely apply to Google if you haven't already 😄
Hey Jon, this video is awesome for beginners who started studying coding and whose dream workplace is google. I really enjoyed your video.
One question I have to ask is, from what language you started learning coding, as I'm learning C++ and Java right now. Stay safe ♥️.. From Sri lanka 🇱🇰
Hey Malaka! 🇱🇰 I learned how to code in college so the order in which I learned my languages is based on the order of the classes I took. In college I first learned C, then Java, and then Python.
I'm from Mexico, my biggest dream (atm) is to work in Google on the United States. With your videos I'm getting motivated, so thanks for it! I really hope one day I can get there. Giving up is not in my plans
That's great to hear! Stay focused on your dreams and we'll be coworkers one day 🇲🇽😄
Hi jhon, I'm 18 years old and I'm studying computer science at the college, I'm from Brazil, I knew your channel recently and your content is amazing, congrats for the channel
Hi Paulo! 🇧🇷Thank you!! Good luck in your studies! Have you looked into the Google internship program?
@@yourfriendintech I haven't looked into Google internship program yet, but it seems good, I'll take a look in this project, thanks so much for the indication, I really appreciate it
Hi Jon, I am from India, This was really nice one. I too prefer pen and paper for notes. I will try your tip of having fruits to boost the energy.
12am no sleep -- WELL GOOD VIDEO...Am Latte from Kenya and i am keeping consistent in this game and every day is a learning day.1st time here and i already like the content.Keep it Up!
Hey Latte! Great to meet you 🇰🇪 and thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! 😄 Hope you're able to sleep soon
Hey John! How you doing man?
I’m from Brazil, and I’m just starting my career as a project manager!
Your videos really inspire me on being a better professional every day, to one day get at Google!
Keep on with ur YT channel man! You have all my support ;)
#goforthandconquer
Hey Victor! 🇧🇷 I'm doing great, thank you for your support and for your positivity! Best of luck to you in your career 😄
One of the best vlogs I've seen! Skipping straight to your workday - the things we want to see - rather than spending half the video on showing us when you wake up and other morning routine stuff
I'm from Jamaica, I really do enjoy your videos, I find them inspiring
I watched your video for the first time, I'm from Brazil, starting my studies in the world of programming, it's really cool to see a routine of professionals. Congratulations on the video and content.
great video. my dream job is to be a software engineer at google or a major tech company and these videos really inspire and educate me on how i can get there. just a suggestion, but maybe could u do a video or just mention within a video the cons of being a software engineer, or stuff that u dislike or might annoy you, otherwise have a great day
@@yourfriendintech hi I am 13 and I've done html html5 and css I am planing to learn basic c# and c++ or even java pls recommend me what to learn first
I don't care if I don't go to Google or a big tech company I just want to learn for passion
@@Asghar.AliAnsari Hey, first of all, that's great that you've already learned so much. I think learning JavaScript would compliment your HTML & CSS skills since they're all web based and doesn't require you to install anything else 😄
Hi jon, started my journey in software engineering here in Canada, originally from Nigeria. You inspire me alot, keep up with the good work 😊
You have really helping nature : "as you said I want everyone to work at google"
Men I love what you are doing, it really good and motivating watching your video God bless you men, love from Nigeria 🇳🇬 piece out ✌✌🙏
We meet soon. Love from India.
Lakshman please take me with yourself. I really wanna to go that place 🤠
Taking notes by hand? heck yeah! I do it all the time. Hand writing makes all your gears run at the same time, also gives you the opportunity to order your thoughts before putting them down ,is not easy to change things on paper. I think you have a good strategy to not get that tired at the end on the day, but also being productive. It took me years to develop one that help me, but I had many years of working long hours to meet unrealistic production goals and deadlines that weren't nine at all! Ended up beaten down dead-flat to bed, not enyoing my personal time or my family. Keep it up!
I've definitely fallen into the trap of overworking myself in the past as well. And while I do enjoy my job, there is so much more to life than working. I mentioned in an older video that life is about the journey, and my goal is to live happily and intentionally everyday. Thanks for sharing your insights! I really appreciate them 😊
Hello from Sri Lanka. I'm a final year BEng Software engineering student who enjoys android and mobile development. Your content is very inspiring; I also hope to work for Google someday.
Hello Jayamal! 🇱🇰 Thank you! I'm glad you find it inspiring. You should apply, applications are open 😄
Hey Jon I am from India going to finish my 10th grade and I was searching for a video to know the working culture of Google and how it is to be a Software Engineer at Google as I also want to work at Google after graduation so I had started learning Java in starting of 9th grade only from UA-cam😁. So in short love your video and I really get more inspired to work hard. If you can than please make video on steps to be a better software engineer or steps to get a job in Google, Microsoft, etc...
Love your video keep it bro 👍
Hey Devarshi! 🇮🇳 That's awesome you're learning from a really young age. Those are great video suggestions, thank you! I do have a video on my channel about how I landed my job at Google, check it out if you haven't already 👍👍

Hi Jon! I am studying my third year in software engineering and watching your videos motivates me a lot to continue because my dream is to one day work at Google (I hope I can get there). Thank you very much for recording this type of content! Greetings from Argentina🇦🇷🇦🇷
Hi Fiorella! Thanks for watching🇦🇷! How do you like your courses? I highly recommend you look into Google's software engineer internship programs and see if there's any available to you, it's a great way to experience Google as a student 😄
@@yourfriendintech
Thank you very much Jon! I ask you a question ... to do this internship program, do I have to reside in the place where said internship takes place, or can I do it remotely from Argentina?
It depends on which application you are applying to! I know some internships allow remote work. Check out the Google internship FAQs here: bit.ly/yfit-google-internship-faqs
Saying hi from Argentina, im an Automation Test Engineer with 9+ years of expererience, so your content its really inspiring, hope that i can work for google some time too..keep creating such a great content
Hi Pablo! Thanks for the kind words 🇦🇷 Have you applied to Google before?
Hi Jon! I’m Daisy watching from Oklahoma! I love these types of videos and I wish they were longer or you’d post more videos like this!
Q: How long did you know you wanted to work for a FAANG company?
P.S.
Pen and paper is the best for writing notes :)
Thanks Daisy!! 🇺🇸Hmm... I knew I wanted to work at FAANG ever since my freshmen year of college. Google hosted a tech talk on campus and that's where I learned all about the perks, benefits, and all the fun activities the interns go to (amusement parks, sports games, etc.). Before that, I had no idea what it was like to work at a big tech company. My mind was blown 🤯
Hi jon, I'm from India🇮🇳. I do love watching your videos. It inspires a lot .
Hey Jon! I’m an aspiring product manager, and so was wondering if you had any interactions with the PMs at google and if so any advice for working well with engineers that you’ve seen? Thanks in advance, really enjoyed the video!
PMs and engineers work pretty closely together on my team and I've worked with PMs from other teams as well. I would say the best PMs understand both the product and the team. I think it does help to understand the technical details (I know some PMs that were prior software engineers), but that's not super important if you can understand at a high level. I would say communication and leadership skills separate the good from the great PMs
Google even provides a bus !! That's interesting. Love from India 🎉
It's really helpful because the bay area commute can sometimes take up to 2 hours in heavy traffic. Thanks for watching! 🎉 🇮🇳
Hello Jon, I got into game development through a boot camp to become a XR Developer and learned nothing through them as far as coding in c# and I feel they just took my money. Do you know a good course or book that teaches c# in a way that it's easy to understand? Or what degree I should pursue to accomplish this goal? Is 40 yrs old to old to start? Thank you.
Hello Fernando! I'm sorry you went through that. I'm honestly not too familiar with C# so I don't have any resources that I can personally recommend. Do you know what kinds or what parts of games you want to work on? It will help you narrow down your choices. It's never too late to start 👍
nice video jon, I like your video alot. Please keep on making videos and hope you stay healthy. Im from Indonesia by the way
I'm from Libya
I wanna really thank you for your nice and positive videos❤️

Saying Hi 👋 from St Cloud. Awesome video and scenery. SF is beautiful, can’t wait to move there when things get better.
This is great video, This reminds me my desk in San Francisco Wells Fargo office with bay bridge view from 23rd floor. Now I am working from Concord and Fremont office. I absolutely love city even though it took me 1 hours 40 minutes each way commute from Mountain House 🏡. I used to go to Sales Force park for afternoon walk and sometimes bayside walking..

Hi Jon,
New subscriber from London, this is a great video, just want to say keep it up!
Thank you!
....noticed that you are perspiring when you arrived the office earlier, seems to be a healthy way of starting the day - adrenaline is on its prime. Thanks for bringing a smile when you mentioned your subs - hearing Abu Dhabi, thanks bro... yes, you’re right - fruits as a mid-day break is both healthy and refreshing ... hope to see more of Google SF, for a change ... #StaySafe
Thanks Emil! I had to walk a few blocks from the bus stop to the office and you're right, movement is a great way to start the day! Glad to see you caught the Abu Dhabi mention, that was for you! And I'll definitely have more Google SF vlogs in the future 😄
its incredible that u still reply to the comments to ur old videos! Any advice on how to land in intersnhip at google? im a 2nd year CS in CA and I've been trying to to find a internship for a while tbh. Love the videos!
Google has two software engineering internships: STEP internship and the Software Engineer Internship. STEP is specifically for 1st and 2nd year students and it's a great program because you work with a team of other interns on one project. The software engineer internship is also a great program where you have more ownership of the project that you're working on (I did both!). Unfortunately it looks like the applications have already closed for the summer internships, but be sure to write on your calendar for next year so you don't miss any future deadlines!
Google has a Students career page for more information careers.google.com/students/
Hope that helps!
Hey Jon, this is from India. Loved your videos they give different vibes. You rock Sir!!!
