Wow!! What an amazing haul! There isn't much I love more than the Ace Illustrated editions. I have very few of them. You are right in that we rarely see them now. Midnight at the Well of Souls is one of my favorite science fiction novels! It starts with fantasy, but it leans hard into the SF later, and lands beautifully. I hope you enjoy it! I hope you are having a great day! Scott.
Great finds in really good shape! I began collecting in 1966, the paperbacks were always in a controlled environment, but many aged out. I began a replacement project 2 years ago. Wow, that was a task! I replaced most with hardbound. I will mention a method I tried to remove old book odors. Not recommended by anyone, but it has worked really well for me. Try with a book that would be trashed, otherwise. I began with one that was unuseable. I placed the book, fanned open, in my attic during early Summer. Really hot and dry. After 2 weeks, the odor was reduced by 80%. At a month, almost gone. I have about 3 months a year of Summer. Currently, about 10 books waiting on June 1st, for a month in the attic about 10 feet from a vent. I also did this to my Sports Illustrated with the Cassius Clay - Sonny Liston fight. Came out great.
Just a FYI, Prospero's Isle online has the Astounding magazine version of The Weapon Makers by van Vogt. A superior tale compared to the publisher influenced book, I think.
Great haul Shawn, especially love all the Simak books.
Thanks. I do love me some Simak

Thanks Scott.
This isn’t a book haul- it’s a time capsule: really nice condition on all these classics..
Lol. It does seem like that. Thanks for watching and commenting
Wolfling is pretty good! Red Planet is pretty good, too. What a haul.
Thanks.
Ring around the Sun and they Walk like men by Clifford D.Simak look amazing! Awesome video by the way!
They are both fabulous books. I'm pleased to get these two editions and in such good condition.

That must have been a big task. Yes, dry heat works. Never thought of attic though. Cat litter works as well...away from any cats though lol.
Great video and very nice book haul. I agree with you when it comes to reading Heinlein. I like his short stories more than most of his novels.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Nice to know there is at least one other person who agrees re Heinlein.
Hello fellas - greetings from Cornwall 🌊
Nice condition Haul 😊
It was. Nice to get books in that condition.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Van Vogt couldn't leave his stories alone. Always tinkering with them.
@ShawnDStandfast Yes, he did! I generally prefer the originals as published in Astounding! JWC influenced.
@@joebrooks4448 Agreed. They were better.
