"Fū-umma" is the name of a Hindu wind demon and is the title given to the fifth and last Kazama Kotarō (some historians say that his name was Nobuyuki, although they are not reliably confirmed). The fact is that the misrepresentation of the name of this Hindu demon, became first in "Fūmma" (as Kawakami sensei names it), and later in "Fūma" as he is known today.
The surname "Kazama" is the surname of a family from the Tsuruoka castle area in the Shōnai domain (former Dewa province, present-day Yamagata prefecture), dedicated to the production of hand-spun silk, in which the first would have been born. Kotarō ("Kotarō" means "Little first son" and, although there is no data to confirm that he was a member of the Kazama family, the allusion of the name leaves many questions).
