Wonderful, love the instrumental side, love the gravely vocals, love how it all comes together in a soulful story. Gentlemen, so happy you are back, don’t stop doing what you do.
@@josephhogue1481 I know. I tryied to be sarcastic. Southern sound but values from north. And anyway, I live north from artic circle so Canada is mostly south. ;):)
I don't know why (independent researchers need to work here)), but the songs of the American south, and country music in general, are very favorable to the Russian soul. Of course I fell asleep to Joan Baez and Johnny Cash songs along with Russian singers when I was a kid, but that's not the point. The point is that even a person who hears a song like this for the first time, being somewhere in the depths of Siberia, will penetrate to it with all his consciousness, will hold back a tear by an effort of will, and the song will remain in his heart forever (even without understanding the words). This is an amazing moment among others.
I am not educated enough to give a good answer on this nor have I ever been to Russia(I apologize for any assumptions I make) but I believe it’s because these genres are meant to convey very universal themes like struggle, joy, love, and loss and the instrumentals and singing are meant to reflect these themes, even without the lyrics. I grew up in the American south and a lot of the values and experiences there I think may resonate with Russian values and experiences. American songs of the south particularly often focus on storytelling about everyday life and resilience in harsh conditions often present in the South in a way that might be relatable to someone in Siberia as(to my limited understanding) Siberian living can also be harsh. However I am very tired as of the time writing this and this could be completely incorrect.
@@CalcasieuCourier Not only - that you gave an absolutely correct interpretation of my open question, but also, you did it in such a respectful and delicate manner - that I (as a participant of the dialog) felt myself in the company of a true gentleman, whose moral and ethical principles are not subject to the destructive impulses of time. The more I listen to this one, The more I love the song, the more I love the dead south. Saw them 5 or 6 years ago in the UK. They were brilliant. They're even better now which I didn't think was possible.
I really love these quieter, more melodic tracks, they really give an amazing contrast to more energetic songs like Tiny Wooden Box. A great album should have its ebbs and flows, up and down. This album is going to be an 11/10 from what we've seen so far!
Another perfect song. Love u guys. Can't wait for Linz to see you live for the first time. And it is for you that I started writing my songs again after 20 years.
I have really been digging the dead South for about the last 5 years. Got to see them with Reverend Peyton's Big damn band in Cincinnati Ohio last summer. One of the best concerts I've ever been to! Can't wait to see them again!!!

Great song ❤
What an outstanding song❗️
Father John was a filthy man
But he loved his God
Sitting by his window late last night he sang a song
About the ways he put them wicked ones away
And on the other side of the mountains where they lay
On the other side of the mountains where they'll stay
Rumours on the street
Well, I hear they're coming true
That filthy man he caught 'em
Put 'em on a noose
'Cause every word he said
The people ate out of his hand
With just one crying word
You could be dead
With just one crying word
You could be dead
They caught 'em up near Beckett Brook
When the crew came riding through
They rounded up them young boys
Chased 'em through the slough
I heard one drowned while the others
Hung around
Father John caught his prey
With heavy eyes their momma's
They came to weep
Looking down at their young boys
Father John did reap
Them away from the land
And all the families that they had
And on the other side of the mountains where they lay
On the other side of the mountains where they'll stay
Father John was a filthy man
But he loved his God
Sitting by his window late last night he sang a song
About the ways he put them wicked ones away
And on the other side of the mountains where they lay
And on the other side of the mountains where they'll stay
The other side of the mountain's where they lay
Always enjoy. See you Oct 11 we have tickets.
