It's funny because even as of recent the Jonas Brothers have said that the image Disney was wanting them to sell was extremely invasive (and some times contradictory) to themselves. It even got to the point that if a paparazzi member was to take a picture of them and that there was visible stubble on their face, they'd often get yelled at afterward. This was due to the fact that Disney wanted to sell a picture of youth and appeal to a general audience.
The entire US has been doing this for decades, certainly not just Disney. Selling sex to youth and impressionable young women in general has been a major staple of capitalism and US culture since the beginning.
I love how they still get shocked by South Park

The TGI Fridays things was the punchline to a joke set up at the beginning of the episode. They get more creative with how to kill Kenny later on.

Basically this is them pointing that boy bands sell sex, they aren't popular because of their music. Young Miley Cyrus and early to mid 2000's were the same. Sex sells. Shakira's rise to fame wasn't her music, it was how she moved her hips.

This season has to be my favorite next to season 7 and 14
At this point it’s a lot different with the messages and parodies than early seasons. Trey has at least one daughter and he probably noticed what was going on. Maybe one of the other writers. So it’s just commenting/calling them out on it in their usual hilarious crazy way.
Honestly, I never got the point of purity rings when most normal people abstain from shmex anyway. It’s like getting a ring that requires you to walk through at least one door a day.
It must be a precise niche target audience population subdemographic to whom Disney apparently was feeling the need to cater, back then.

Not really. Season 5-13 are by far the best. Modern south park lost all it's creative edge and just regurgitates political humor from social media now.

Yeah, this whole episode is calling out Disney (a company that has since proved itself to be pretty lowdown & evil if youve kept up with the current events of the last few years). So, dont be too hasty to hypothosize, & call out south park, usually with south psrk theres a greater point to be made, especially from season 10 onwards.
