Typically I roll with 40 banner knights, 40 elite cataphracts, and the balance made up of companions and Khans Guard. Even if I am lazy and auto resolve every time, I can routinely crush armies two and three times my size. It’s unreal how hard the KG go.
In a real field battle Khan's Guard are clearly the best if controlled by a human rather than the games AI. First they have mobility that can be taken advantage of. Second they are downright nasty if it comes to melee. Khan's Guards are where Elite Phracts go to die. There is no game scenario that I would choose Fians over Khan's Guards.
@eazymerked even if the Khan's Guard are like 80% of the Fian champions, their mobility (them being horse archers) gives them the edge, in my opinion. Then their polearm is OP
I have to agree with this one. Khan's Guards remain the best because of versatility, mobility and melee superiority. Fians are good, if range and height advantage are maintained. But Khan's guards' polearms can quickly change that. Newer changes in bannerlord really hurt the Fian champion. Double line Shield wall marches and mounted archer skirmishers along with cavalry charges decimate a pure Fian army. But we get what you mean. Fian Champions remain the best foot archers. Just... not the best troop.
i tried it already Fians vs Khans guards 50vs50 then 300vs300 on foot, or horses Khans slaps them 9/10 times, they get its arrows vs arrows until the khans close the distance then its more one sided without horses Fians deal some impressive damage to Khans guards if its without horses, still Khans slaps them and on horses its really one sided 🥹 only chance for Fians its pure foot archering combat when they stand and shooting arrows on each other even Khan guards can beat Fians in handicap, i tried 50vs 100 but it was really close
I think Fian and Khans Guard are both the strongest units in the game. When you look at the Khans Guard in a vakuum it's the strongest unit in the game (even stronger than the Fian by quite a bit). However, I'd still rate the Fian above the Khans Guard in the latest patch for several reasons. 1. The first two tiers of the noble Khuzait unit suck now with the new horse archer penalty for having below 100 riding skill. Especially the T1 unit is just obnoxiously terrible now, the worst t1 noble unit by far in my opinion. Battania noble unit however is great from the get go. 2. War mounts. You need to have war mounts in order to upgrade the Khuzait noble unit to get them above 100 riding. This is getting tedious and expensive. So a T1 Khuzait noble unit costs 4x more than a T1 Battania noble unit, you need to train them firstly to T3 and need to get a war mount for them in order to get better than the Fian. 3. Culture bonus. Battania culture bonus is extremely strong and there are perks which make it easier to recruit troops from the same faction. When taking this into consideration I can't help but rate the Fian as the strongest. Yes, Khans Guard is stronger in a vakuum but Fian is much more cost efficient.
Give them the desert winds banner (25% movement speed increase) along with a solid captain specking in fire speed and movement you can whittle down your enemy with ‘engage command’ and they will never catch you. Until that is they clash into your front line warriors with what ever pathetic force remains.
@@ZacharyDarkes They are not always better, as said by others, sieges and forests cause khans guards to suffer, and forrest maps which are most common ouside of the khuzait lands .
open field? with fian champion? if you know how to play them and protect them you can decimate an army three times your size your only chance against an army like that is for the cavs to charge them but they are always well protected.
Not sure about the best troops thingy, but the best foot archer? Indeed.Better to use different sort of "tools" for different sort of situations. Anyways dont spam fians unless you got stable incomes, my foot archers usually 50% forest bandit 40% fians while serving as merc. Forest bandit got same bow as Fian, yet less archery skill and upkeep❤
Yo man random question but I wanted to be a slaver, what troop type would be best for knocking out enemies? Aserai seems to have a unit that has hammers but is there anything better? Thanks!
@@eazymerked I found Aserai Footman (third upgrade from recruit) has them + a shield, I don't know how good they are but I've been running with 40 of them and just knocking out baddies and selling them for major cash lol it's actually really fun
@@ThinkingCap_ there’s actually a glitch with prisoners where if you capture lords then take them to a fief you own sell them in the tavern then go to your dungeon you can take them back out again and sell them again and can literally do it infinitely 😂
I usually comprise my army of about 70% Imperial Legionaries, 10% calvary (1/2 are archers) and 20% archers. Usually my archers are Fian Champions.

If you are making 3 lines of archers I thought you would do just agincourt and Cannae combination

I find square works better when there’s cavalry or overwhelming infantry

Khan's Guard are way more broken.
Fian champs are much easier and cheaper to get though. Also better in sieges

They are the best troop you can ALWAYS beat sturgians they are foot men so they are screweed. Asarai dont stand a chance they got no armor
