Your Yakuza 0 video encouraged me to play through Yakuza 1-6 rather than jumping right into Infinite Wealth after I had finished Like A Dragon. :) And it has been a great decision because Kiryu's story is so amazing as well. Thank you for keeping on working on your project!
I mean it's already obvious to play in chronological order story-wise, I'm currently going back to Kiwami 1 since I completed the story already years ago which happened from 2-6.

I got around shogi by playing the hardest match in the game and winning by inputing the Yakuza AI moves as player moves in a shogi app on my phone and copying the phone game's ai's moves
I have the plat for every Yakuza game and I'm glad to see it wasn't just me who almost gave up because of mahjong in 0 only to have it be their favourite thing going forward.
Honestly don’t blame you for skipping a lot of the dialogue for the sub stories in this one. Playing Y0 first and then coming to Kiwami, I’ve already forgotten half the sub stories I did yesterday. They’re almost centered around scams and scammers. Each sub story in Y0 was different and had its own plot and themes, to the point where there’s probably only a handful I don’t remember, so Kiwami definitely feels like a step down in that regard.

You have my respect, i got the plat for lost Judgement, Like A Dragon Gaiden and Like a Dragon. Like a Dragon and Lost Judgement were nightmares crafted from the pits of hell.
Some of the Haruka requests are particularly annoying without cheat items to the point where it might just be easier to do another NG+ and snag a few extras for Poker in particular. I'm on the same journey to 100% these games myself even if I'm not doing it all in the one year time frame. Good luck!
If straight-up bowling gives you trouble, K has a perfect-game setting. Select the penultimate carrotte on the right and then fine-tune 2 ticks to the left from that carrotte. Then the skill part is the only thing between you and a perfect game. You need to hit perfect power. Once you understand how the carrotte selection and the fine-tuning works in relation to pin-positions, you will be the bowling-god of all time and Al Bundy will enshrine you as his personal idol.
1:45 This is apparently true for Yakuza 3 and 4, where it was required to do Hard mode first in order to unlock Legend. At least, that's what Yakuza discord told me.

Others have probably already told you about this, and you have already completed the game, but it might be useful in some of the other installments: You can order alcohol quicker if you buy special medicine from drug stores (Legendary Drinker of Ryukyu, might also be known under other names elsewhere) - it will get rid of your drunk level when consumed.

Welcome to hate-to-love mahjong club! After struggling with substory in Kiwami 2 where you need to go from 1000 to 25000, I learned how to play and now even play multiplayer matches on my phone sometimes
Kiwami is the only yakuza that I've 100% completed and honestly, learning how to play mahjong was so cool. It seriously became so fun that I played it /after/ finishing all the associated tasks with it. Of course, it was the pool that almost made me lose my mind, other than the car chase on legend. I must have retried that part a couple dozen times, it was absolutely maddening lmao. All in all, my 100% took almost 100 hours. You're so damn quick! Can't wait to see you finish the rest of the series!
It took me nearly 120 hours to complete, although it was mostly because I didn't know you could manually declare Riichi and thought the game just told you outright. Climax Battles and the car chase on legend difficulty was by far the hardest tho, so to see it all be beaten in just 62 hours is honestly incredible. Maddeningly skilled!
Here it is, K1! Love to see it. You know, I just recently learned Riichi Mahjong in Final Fantasy 14 for a rare title. Once I understood this game is like Rummy, it clicked for me. In a week I played 85 matches against other players and it's simply.. fun? I don't know why, but Mahjong is a game of both skill and RNG that captivates me, when it usually pushes me away. Edit: When you mentioned going out with Mangan/Haneman (or even Baiman/Sanbaiman/Yakuman) and not knowing where it comes from, it's often the Dora/Aka Dora/Ura Dora. Dora is the special tile open (in the middle). Either the tile following it (if shown 2 of characters, finishing a hand with a 3 of characters) would net you an extra Han for the scoring. Stackable too. The Ura Dora is an extra hidden bonus shown after a winning hand is played and might net you extra Hans if you are lucky. The Aka Dora I think are the Red Dotted 5s, include them when you can. So, Riichi Ippatsu Pinfu is 3 Han, one Dora and one Ura Dora is 5 Han for a Haneman.
I really wanted to finish all the parts of the Yakuza like you with 100% of EVERYTHING, but I gave up. I decided that I would finish them with all the achievements and 100% compelition list, now I am enjoying Kiwami 2) Good luck to you!
The only reason to ACTUALLY 100% these games is definitely for content. But i love just getting the platinum trophies. These are my favorite games and this series has inspired me to finally take the plunge. I’m definitely mostly worried about harukas requests. Also good luck for infinite wealth. I’m glad to see someone else enjoy Mahjong. When I first played Kiwami it was kind of intimidating, but now that I’m at yakuza 5. It’s become the mini game i most look forward to during every game.
After you learn mahjong for 1 of the games it becomes pretty fun in the future games. The same thing happened to me, I think Yakuza 0's mahjong completion was the hardest so if you can do that then the other games just become "hello again old friend" every time mahjong's required

I am doing the same thing you are doing or well similar. I am getting all achievements in every yakuza. Most of them tho do require 100% so basically same thing. Anyways I started back in December of 2023 with Yakuza 0. Now I am on Yakuza 7 and having a blast. It’s certainly possible to do it in a year but still a major time investment

Just stumbled randomly across your video and as it turned out, I popped the Yakuza 0 disc in my PS5 in November and decided to play through all the games in the same order you mention at the beginning of your video, with the exception that I refuse to force myself to 100% them. (I started Y7LaD on Friday, and my tally so far is 535 hours spent on those games for an average of 67 hours per game.) Funny part? I took me more time (73 hrs) to complete one playthrough of K1 at my pace (no skipping the cutscenes etc.) and skipping whatever tids and bits didn't interest me/i wasn't good at than it took you to play through twice it (at those ridiculous difficulty levels) and complete *everything*. Hats off to you! I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to your recap of the other games as you play them. ^_^
I also found Proving Grounds 7 harder than it should've been. But blocking is waaaay easier than dodge rolling. You can block all bullets with the golden gun.
I started the series for the first time this year (not 100% btw) but I’m on 5 now and having a blast. The 100% challenge would give me burnout for sure so well done! Enjoyed the video too
Nice video. I am also on a journey to 100% the series and so far I done with Judgment and Lost Judgment and now playing Yakuza 0 (I known 0 and Kiwami story since I watch my brother played it so I started on Judgment) Also Mahjong just gave players Stockholm syndrome
With my Like a Dragon 0 knowledge to the point of confident more than initial experience I can plan the same thing on Kiwami 1. I even played 0-6 story to the end so I'll go back to all of them in the future for 2-6.

I'm actually trying this now. I'm not the best fighter so the climax battles will keep me from the plat. Kiwami 2 plat is quite a bit easier. There are maybe a couple Haruka requests that suck, and a something called Bouncer Missions; they're easy except for the very last one. Can't wait to see if you can plat Yakuza 3, it's such a shame they didn't decide to give it the Kiwami treatment. It desperately needed it.
In proving grounds 7, if you spam R1/Lock on and Triangle/Fire at the same time Kiryu will fire the weapon almost fully automatically, making the last section a free win more or less.
Additionally, on PC (which I assume you are based on the ending) you can just use the mouse for the batting center and the cursor doesn't have any idle movement whatsoever. Same with darts until the dragon engine p sure.

For the cheat items you pick up from lockers there’s a glitch on PC. You hover over a locker to open with the controller, then mouse over the one you want an item from instead, then press okay on the controller and it (re)opens the moused-over locker without consuming the original key. After already getting 100% on Y0 I had no qualms using this to my advantage.
100 percent of kiwami was really fun! until mahjong where it took me almost 30 hours just to get that last completion point before finally getting it at 5am
my theroy is that anyone who goes through completing multiple yakuza games comes out loving mahjong 100% of the time.

melee battle 10 was definitely the most challenging climax battle, but my favorite one as well
With my Like a Dragon 0 knowledge to the point of confident more than initial experience I can plan the same thing on Kiwami 1. I even played 0-6 story to the end so I'll go back to all of them in the future for 2-6.
Same for me with Mahjong! When you are forced to learn it by the time I played it in Kiwami I was actually enjoying myself

I've been a fan of Yakuza for years and I have not even platinumed the full series. So far, I've got 0, Kiwami 2, 6, Gaiden x 2, IW x 2. Working on Judgement.

1:44 Yep, Like I said before: 0, K1, & K2 you can play on any Difficulty to Unlock Legend; I know at least 3 & 4 require Hard mode. Best Assumption is that all games Starting w/ 3

Its truly insane how as soon as I finish my first playthrough of 0 he drops a video about 100% yakuza 0, I finish kiwami and couple days later he drop one on kiwami. He ain't dropping anymore till am done with kiwami 2 💀

funny thing about koi koi in yakuza. if you are losing you can quit out and not lose gambling tags. i dont know if i mentioned this on the last video but i want to bring this up here too.
Love these vids! I love Yakuza but there’s a lot of side content that I don’t touch because I’m bad at it lmao so watching these are kind of fascinating. Can’t wait for K2 :)
Also working towards platinumimg all the Yakuza games. Just finished Kiwami last week. Hoping I can at least get through Judgment by end of year but I'm playing lots of other stuff so we'll see. Nice video!
I'm actually trying this now. I'm not the best fighter so the climax battles will keep me from the plat. Kiwami 2 plat is quite a bit easier. There are maybe a couple Haruka requests that suck, and a something called Bouncer Missions; they're easy except for the very last one. Can't wait to see if you can plat Yakuza 3, it's such a shame they didn't decide to give it the Kiwami treatment. It desperately needed it.

In proving grounds 7, if you spam R1/Lock on and Triangle/Fire at the same time Kiryu will fire the weapon almost fully automatically, making the last section a free win more or less.
Additionally, on PC (which I assume you are based on the ending) you can just use the mouse for the batting center and the cursor doesn't have any idle movement whatsoever. Same with darts until the dragon engine p sure.

Locking dragon style behind a massively flawed system is still mind boggling thing to do tbh.
For the cheat items you pick up from lockers there’s a glitch on PC. You hover over a locker to open with the controller, then mouse over the one you want an item from instead, then press okay on the controller and it (re)opens the moused-over locker without consuming the original key. After already getting 100% on Y0 I had no qualms using this to my advantage.
100 percent of kiwami was really fun! until mahjong where it took me almost 30 hours just to get that last completion point before finally getting it at 5am
