Painkiller is a pretty hard song to play, but doing all downstrokes is killer...much respect

Which part are you referring to because I see her using lots of upstrokes as well. The only way to get the proper metal “tone” is by using downstrokes when playing metal riffs. James Hetfield explains this in some of his interviews also. Lots of metal riffs lose their proper sound or “feel” when you try to include the upstroke

@@evelia1156 She plays accurate to the way Judas Priest plays Painkiller. Her downstrokes are right and the upstrokes are right as well. Usually on metal, they play downstrokes during riffs and bridges, but on solos, they do use alternate picking. Parts like 1:01 are alternate picking in the original as well.
About what James said, I imagine you're not a guitar player, or at least don't play Metallica songs, as you would know that they also play alternate picking on many songs, even on Master of Puppets there are some. It's called galloping and they use on may songs. On Disposable Heros, they even do it during riffs as well. It's not a rule, more of a "thumb rule".
