JOLLY Fisherman ECS Passing Toton! 66653, Passing Freight Workings and a MASS of DB Locos! 21/06/24

A visit to a very windy and warm Toton as we see Rail Adventure powercars 43468 & 43480 headed to Cricklewood to stable overnight ready for tomorrows 'Jolly Fisherman' ECS to Skegness.
Also seen is recently re-geared class 66 loco 66653 (Ex 66194) headed to Boston with a steel working and a number of other passing freight workings.

I remember catching the Jolly Fisherman from Derby to Skeggy back in the late 80s / early 90s. It comprised a pair of class 20s and whatever coaching stock was available back then.

The Jolly Fisherman used to run from Burton-on-Trent on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If this helps. Accurascale makes the Class 66 in OO scale (similar to HO scale and runs on the same track) and they are making a new Class 60 for release in 2025. If you wanted the HST. Hornby makes one.

Busy place, Toton...good viewpoint you had there. How many of those Class 60's are there laid up in the foreground sidings? Bloody disgraceful...although I understand a few are being or have been sold abroad...?
