This is definitely going to help in my shiny hunts in the Safari Zone. It's very helpful you took the time and effort to make such an organized table for each of the pokenon in the SZ too. This is definitely worth using a reference to.
That's unbelievable, that's outstanding. Normally you don't have this kind of information, you don't see probabilities and numbers, and the game tells you that if you want higher chance to catch pokémon like Chansey the only way is to increase the odds by throwing rocks....wow, so counterintuitive.
Thank you sooooo much! Your chart worked! First, it worked on the first Chansey I encountered after six balls. AND it was holding a Lucky Egg! And then I tried it out again on Kanghaskan, and it worked again! I went though six balls following the chart, and then switch to the flee chart after it watched carefully, and then threw two baits followed by ball 7 and it legit worked! I legit sobbed for my childhood self who never came close. Only way I got them back then was though XD Gale of Darkness.
Bravo, fantastic job! I;m so glad all your research has born so much fruit now that you've been able to verify all of your previously collected data! :D
Laughably when I kept being able to catch Dratini I always threw bait a couple times and threw balls. "Pokemon don't want to befriend you if you throw rocks" I said to my friends, no one believed me! I'm glad there's magically an exploit?(Oversight correction?) that explains my luck when it came to the rarer Pokemon in the Safari zone on Firered seemingly being easier for me to catch.
I found and caught a shiny before I was able to catch a chansey in the safari zone. But after using one of these methods I got it on the second try lol
Believe it or not i was going for the Dratini before coming to this video and easily caught a Chansey w/o any bait just threw a ball first try... 😅🤦 so now I know why I was struggling with my Dratini so much lol I had used up all my luck already!! Thanks to the look up chart I was actually able to catch the Dratini first attempt! Really glad I found this video!

This is great work. Loved reading your document! This is really good for shiny hunting, but for trying to get a Lucky Egg I think it's debatable in my experience. Could you do the math? I have tried this method and also just straight up throwing balls at Chansey. There are two factors based on time that come in to play when Lucky Egg hunting. 1. Fleeing Chansey - Chansey will flee 45% of time on first turn, meaning you throw a Bait only for Chansey to flee. In 100 encounters, you would therefore lose almost 2 Chansey from using your method that would offset the benefit your calculations show. 2. Time - Having tried both methods extensively (both with level 26 repel), if I do your method I catch on average 1.7 Chansey per 30 pokeballs / Safari visit. This takes an average of 78 mins to use all 30 balls. This is largely due to Chansey fleeing on 1st turn which means 0% chance to catch VS using a pokeball straight up. With straight Pokeballs I have an average of 1.2 Chansey per Visit / 30 balls. This however takes me on average 36 mins using optimal methods. This means, if I were to have a 3 hour hunting session for a Lucky Egg, throwing balls straight VS your method would mean I catch 1 extra Chansey in a 3 hour window, giving me slightly better odds of getting a Lucky Egg when time spent is factored in. Make sense? I still use both methods and switch. I have caught 43 Chanseys but still no Lucky Egg!! I have got X2 shiny Pokémon while doing this, a Rhyhorn and Nidorino though! Any thoughts or advice on this and perhaps any recommendations on how I can get a Lucky Egg would be appreciated!
Every time you encounter a Chansey there will be a 45% chance for it to flee on the first turn. Regardless of if you throw bait or not. If you are throwing balls only you will have the 4% chance to catch before it flees but it is totally outweighed by the benefit of bait. If you are taking 2x as long with bait strat either your test samples are too small or you are taking far too long to work through the pattern. At most I could expect an extra 4-5 minutes per reset. I really can't convince you of the math. With balls only you will catch about 10 in every 100 chansey you see. With bait you will average 19
@@ProfessorRex Thank you Professor, I appreciate your response. I guess the time difference is the encounter rate and the rate at which I spam balls and am running out quicker..
