India-Pakistan tensions: Global leaders calls for de-escalation

- International leaders, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Prime Minister Theresa May, are calling on India and Pakistan to calm the rhetoric and tensions that have been strained in recent days.
Pakistan's military said on Wednesday it shot down two Indian warplanes in the disputed region of Kashmir and captured a pilot, raising tensions between the nuclear-armed rivals to a level unseen in the last two decades.
Within hours of the incident, Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan went on television urging peace talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
There was no reply from Modi, but India acknowledged one of its air force planes was "lost" in skirmishes with Pakistan and that its pilot was "missing in action."

Facts:
14th Feburary: 40 Indian soilders are killed in a convoy in Kashmir, India blames Pakistan for the attack within minutes of the attack.
21st Feburary: Pakistani PM Imran Khan says give us actionable intelligence/evidence and we will act on it and take proper action against whoever is responsible. He also addresses India that before pointing fingers at Pakistan within 30mins of the attack why don't you look into how India has been treating Kashmiris their "own citizens" for the past 7 decades. Reports of rape, child abuse, international reports of gross human rights violation might have led upto this incident.
22nd: With rising tensions PM Modi's only bid to win the elections would be a strong stance against Pakistan. Pakistan Foreign Minister writes a letter to the UN stating that they should intervene and de-escalate the situation. India rejects PM Imran Khan's offer saying they have given evidence in the past and no action was taking by Pakistan
26th Feburary:
2 Indian planes cross into Pakistan, violating the Geneva convention. They are chased out of the airspace as soon as they enter and in an attempt to run away they drop their payload and go back into their own territory. Videos emerge of the payload being dropped in an empty ravine. India claims 300 Pakistanis were killed by those jets, evidence of which was seen nowhere. Locals show videos of a few trees destroyed and one man sustaining minor injuries to his head . Imran Khan issues a statement saying that India needs to stop acting irrationally, Pakistan does not want war but if Pakistan's sovereignty will be challenged we will have no option but to respond.
Cross border shelling between India and Pakistan starts later that day and 4 Pakistani civilians are killed, 11 injured
27th Feburary:
In response to that 2 Pakistani fighter jets enter Indian airspace, drop bombs in open and uninhabited area, Indian fighter pilots chase the Pakistani jets entering back into the Pakistani airspace. As soon as the Indian jets enter the Pakistani airspace and border they are shot down. One of the planes is destroyed and lands in Indian occupied territory the other one in Pakistani occupied territory. One of the Indian pilot survives the crash and is captured by the locals after they came to the crash site and he started shooting at them with his handgun. Locals beat up the Indian pilot, Pakistan army on ground arrives at the site, take the Indian pilot into custody and rescue him from the locals.
PM Imran Khan again in his address to the nation after the capture of the Indian pilot says that war is not the answer, we still want to negotiate peace talks and that sanity should prevail in India.
28th Feburary:
Imran Khan annouces that as a gesture of good faith we will release the Indian pilot and send him home. India claims that this is no gesture of good faith, that Pakistan had to abide by the Geneva convention and release the pilot anyway. The same Geneva convention that India grossly violated on the 26th of Feburary 2019

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is having discussions "at different levels with different parties" about the tense India-Pakistan situation, his Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Wednesday.
He refused to say who those parties were or the levels of contact but said the discussions were "to make sure that we have, we get a full picture" of the situation.
"The message coming out of those discussions is on the need for both countries to do whatever they can to de-escalate the situation," he said.
Guterres is "kept appraised of the situation" and is following it, Dujarric added.
Asked if the discussions were mediation efforts, he replied, "I have said what I have to say." When pressed further, he said, "I'll let you characterise it."

On Tuesday, Indian Air Force bombed a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) training camp in Balakot in Pakistan, 12 days after a suicide bomber killed more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force troopers.
