The Bridgestone RS11 should be given some thought in this category. I ride it on the ZX-10R and ride it all year round except when it rains as I dont like to get wet. It outperforms the S22 by alot and warms up pretty fast in the South CA winters and North TX fall seasons. I want to give the S23's a try but I like the confidence I get with the RS11's for a good street spec tire imo.

I usually ride Rs11s as well for street and track on my 750. Just bought a set of s23s. They arent as aggressive as the rs11, but im hoping they last alot longer with the harder middle compound

Did they just say it’s a five compound tire on the back and a three on the front? Because it’s a three compound rear and two compound front.

Yeah, it's not really correct - it's 3 and 5 STRIPS but pairs of strips use the same compound. So 2 and 3 compounds like you said.

It's perhaps understandable why they chose a track in South Africa to test these tyres, while tracks in Europe won't be nearly as black ice laden as is suggested, they'd certainly be cold. I have S22's fitted to my ZZR1400 and whilst OK in summer, they don't like the cold roads even after they've had a good bit of time to warm up.

I’ve had a very different experience with the s21 and s22. I’ve drug knee when it was in the 50’s. I just put the s23 on a week ago, and got to scrub up the tires for the first time this weekend, and they’re even more confidence inspiring than the 22’s. It may be a tire pressure issue.

@@thagingerninjer5391 Thanks for your reply, could the answer be that OEM fitted tyres are not of the same standard as those in the retail market ? I have great faith in Michelin Road 5's ( not tried the new 6's) even in cold wet conditions.

@@greywolf9292 I would suspect the issue is tire pressure. I keep a pretty close eye on mine. I used the road 3’s and 4’s on my cbr600rr, and I loved them. I started with an s21 that came stock on my cbr1000rr. It was the first experience I’ve ever had of the battlax line. It was a great tire. It lasted 7,000 miles and did everything I needed it to do. I never felt like it wasn’t grippy enough, and I spent a lot of time on the outer compound on the rear. The s22’s lasted me over 9,000 miles, and I had the same experience with it. Loads of time on the outer compound, and never an issue with traction. I ride year round, 110 degrees to 17 degrees. I’ve put over 16,000 miles on my 2021 cbr1000rr in all weather conditions in the past year and a half. If you’re having traction issues, you may start looking at your suspension settings and tire pressure. Dave moss has a bunch of good videos on setting up your suspension.

@@greywolf9292 a battlax is a battlax, whether it’s on a bike oem, or at your local cycle gear. The road 5’s are good tires, but I ride too aggressively for them, at times. The 6’s are great, too. I will always prefer a stickier tire, but I’m on a liter bike.

Since my S22s have far worse grip (road and track) and more finicky (in hot and cold weather alike) than my Continental ContiAttack tires were, I highly doubt anything made by Bridgestone will be a new benchmark... Pirelli maybe, definitely NOT Bridgestone. ;)

I completely disagree - 8 sets of top performing S22‘s ridden at the limit up and down serious mountain passes and on the race track tell a story of excellent grip levels 😎✌️🔥🏁

Sounds like rider error or pressures too low/high 🤣. Too many people complaining about tires grip meanwhile there's plenty of video evidence of people going hard on them.

totally disagree.. have tried them all and Bridgestone is always on the very Top if not the best ! from S21 S22 to RS10 R11 and the best RS11 the nearly perfect road racing tyre !
