You know what I really really appreciate? Somebody who is humble, well spoken, calm, kind, and REALLY KNOWS what they're talking about. Two thumbs up man.
I like the whole series, because you focus on totally different perspective such as personal style, health, tobacco components, budget, pipes, etc... that makes it very original and 100% helpful to me (since Im into active pipe smoking for 3 years now only..). Very good job, thank you!
Thanks man, you just described the goal for my channel, there are a lot more to pipe smoking as you know, then just putting tobacco in a pipe and lighting it, and this may shock you but I am extremely organized, no it's true, I am 😀 so I have tried to keep my videos in some kind of organization, plus I wanted to touch on all aspects of pipe smoking. Thanks for your comment and subscribing to my channel, I couldn't keep doing videos with out you. 😄😄😄👍
+Muttnchop Piper I can see that you are organised and I would be suprised if you wouldn´t be :D As you mentioned you were with the corps. As far as Im in blue, you have my respect. I guess I have some of that organised manners as well (you should see my humble pipe cabinet/bookshelf LOL ). Im very happy you share your ideas and experience with us, keep going! :)
Just wanted to pop on and say this has been a really fantastic series if videos. I'm also in that transition period most of eventually go through...lost that compulsion to try everythng, found my "sweet spot" and zeroing in on those key, core blends.
I’ve been going through your videos and learned a lot. Thanks for all your work and time to upload such good content. I think I have similar taste in tobacco as you. I’m trying to try different blends to see what I like before I stock up. My question is what would you replace in your 16 blend rotation if you were starting today? I see Cellar, On the Town, Dark Star, Fox hound, and Early Morning pipe that I can no longer get since your video was made.
Videos like this make me wish I smoked sooner. The casual frog Morton availability. Lol. We have northwoods in replace of the cellar, but I’ve never heard of a replacement for on the town……………
MuttnChop . . . Thank you sincerely for you interest in pipe smoking & your preoccupancy to provide ALL of us, novice & advanced pipe smoker's alike, with the straight-forward assessment of pipe technology, tobaccos, & the nuances related to the world of pipe smoking. Thank you . . . from the bottom of my bowl!
Thanks man, I'm just nuts, now check this out, my wife is a piler, pile over here, pile over there, drives me crazy, but I have learned to live with it, tried talking to her once about it.....BIG MISTAKE, so I decided it would be best to let it go 😀😀👍
+Muttnchop Piper I feel you my ex was the same way and it drove me insane. In my truck everything has a place and it goes back there as soon as I'm done using it. I bought a Rubbermaid tote that fits under my bed and I made dividers for my jars and accessories and a box I made dividers for the short jars and some pipes and I have a little caddy for a couple pipes and the rest of my accessories that sits on my passenger seat for when I'm driving.
Dave John Elliott - How dare you say such a thing you....you...you tobacco snob lol😃. Most people start out with aromatics, then get board and find that non aromatics expand their pallets quite nicely, and end up regretting spending all that time smoking aromatics. 👍👍👍
Point taken but we now have Vaping for those sensitive souls who turn up their nose at the aroma of our traditional weed.Recent medical studies show that Nicotine can mitigate against mental Dementia so I will remain a traditionalist and take my medication without that Spoonful of sugar Topping.Pleasure to Correspond.
Muttnchop 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!! Awesome video have been waiting for this one... Matter of fact I'm smoking the frog Morton right now... Going to try a few of the English blends you recommend..... Was wondering how you feel about Penzance..? Thanks for the videos thanks for all 😁👍
Thanks Pipes And Kayaks, I have only been able to get my hands on a small sample, but to be honest I wasn't impressed, I have about 2 more bowlfulls so I will get back to you if my opinion changes. 😀😀👍
What about Black House? See you have it there on the shelf and been waiting for you to mention it. Just got me a tin (not that easy here in Europe) and would be interesting to hear your views on it and how it compares to other blend...
You know Jimmie, I didn't like it, I don't know what it is about the blend, I just didn't like the taste, I am keeping it around because I will try it again, Maybe there was something wrong with my pallet at the time, or my nose was stopped up and couldn't smell right, I'm going to give it another try here soon, my favorite Marquee series tobacco is "White Knight" it's an oriental forward English modeled after Balkan Sobrani. 😃😃😃😃
I have found that my pallette is almost identical to yours. I am a new pipe smoker (9 months now), and I have fallen in love with maltese falcon, PS luxury navy flake, and PS twist flake. I started with 1Q and then branched out to all sorts of aromatics. I quickly discovered that I do not like aromatics. The smell that they leave in my beard makes me queasy after a few hours. Anyway, I find your pallette to be impeccable. Pretty much every tobacco that you have reccomended has been fantastic. Like you, I do not care for Dunhill 965 as well. Question for you: have you tried C&D Byzantium? It smells almost exactly the same as maltese falcon, but tastes markedly different.
Hi Chris, Very intersting and usefull series of videos. Another question, as I mentioned before I’m a rather new and young pipe smoker (roughly, 1 year). I mostly enjoyed aromatics and especially Virginias with no added flavours. I would say that I prefer the rather sweet spectrum of tobaccos, but do appreciate the natural flavours of tobacco. Firstly, do you have a recommendation of a blend which is naturally ‚sweet‘, and that I should try? Secondly, I am going to purchase an english blend to try a blend with latakia for the first time. As you mentioned in one of your videos you separate your pipes by aromatic and english blends. Can I smoke an english blend out of my `aromatic‘ pipe to try whether I like it?
GL Pease Westminster, to my taste, is a very mild "la-TAHH-ke-yah" blend. It's absolutely delicious, don't get me wrong. I'm a 98% English blend smoker. And Westminster is up there.
Iv3 really enjoyed the series, and enjoy the channel full stop. I am curious, what you are doing to fulfill the gaping hole the closure of Mcclelland has done to your rotation? Keep it up.
lmazcraz - I haven’t really, I have a lot of other blends I have bought that I just fill in here and there, I haven’t replaced those blends permanently. 👍👍👍
Keep up the good work with the videos! If you have the time and money, try some Presbyterian Mixture it is abit like Dunhill EMP, but just that much better. If you cant find any, im willing to sent you some. Haddock
Thanks Haddock, I'll pick up some the next time I order some tobacco, it's been around for ever, I just thought it might of been to harsh for me, but since you say it's like EMP but better, that's good enough for me, thanks for the recommendation 😀😀👍
Great video Muttnchop! I wanted to ask your opinion on somthing, I'm looking to order another Savinelli pipe but I'm torn between two styles, the 305 and the 316. Have you had both or either of them? If so did you enjoy them and witch one would you personally prefer? They don't look that different but I was just wondering your opinion.
Thanks Sir Beardington, I owned both styles of pipe, but I preferred the 316 over the 305, and here is why, the shank is more streamlined, and the bowl is deeper, so I got a longer smoke from it. Now both pipes are good smokers, but I liked the styling of the 316 a little better. Hope this helps 😀😀👍
Hey Muttonchop. I went through this series of videos last year and I like quite a few of the blends you mentioned. I have recently revisited this series and I was wondering if you have yet adjusted your rotation due to the loss of McClelland/Nording and Dunhill and if so, what have you replaced them with? As always great videos and thanks!
OneRingMitten - I have not adjusted my rotation because I have Cellared all three of these blends, I have 12 of each, so when I run out, I will pull from my Cellar, until my Cellar is empty of these blends, but if I am conservative with these blends, I will have enough to last the next 15 years, then I will adjust with something new at that time.
Muttnchop Piper in this day and age it definitely pays to cellar your favorite blends. Who knows when and one of them might go out of production. I have cellared quite a few favorites myself. I also like the idea of putting together five year cellars so I can always have aged tobaccos. I’ve been doing that for a couple of years. That was a good recommendation on your part.
OneRingMitten - Exactly, you never know when your favorite blends will stopped being produced, so Cellar now before its to late, I’m glad you took my advice. 👍👍👍
Hey Muttonchop, I am curious how you can keep all the knowledge you have about the different types/blends of tobacco you have sampled. Do you keep a smokers log or journal to track your thoughts and comments?
Patrick Quinn - Nope, all stuck in my head, when I was in the Marine Corps one of the jobs I had was Desk sergeant where I had to keep track of 23 Aircrafts availability, what was going on with each of them, what status they were in, and to be able to relay that information without using notes at a moments notice. After years of thinking that way, it's become second nature in my everyday life, I smoke a blend of tobacco retain in my memory, what I taste how it smells the cut and moisture level, then recall it when I'm asked about it. 👍👍👍
Amazing!! I am jealous of that ability! Please keep putting out the videos. I have found them very useful and I see that many others do as well. I am comfortable now in the handling of my pipes, and starting to expand the different blends that I am trying. I will be following your blend club and look forward to future videos.
Patrick Quinn - I am glad that you are getting used to pipe smoking, and that you will be participating in Blend Club, there is a complete list of tobacco's we will be reviewing on my video "Blend Club; What is it, and how does it work" if you wan to know. 👍👍👍
Smoking Margate in Stanwell Bulldog. I use term Latakia I don't know why...I smoke mostly blends like Commonwealth,Artisan Blend,Margate...strong latakia blends. Orientals are sometimes too sweet...I used to like orientals, only blend I still buy is Bill B's Balkan Blend from Dan Tobacco. There is so many blends but too little time. All the best and cool smokes
Olle thanks for sharing, I came across a couple of sites on the internet that take offense when you call a Latakia blend an English blend, I have always called it an English blend, but both are correct I think. I really love that Artisan's blend, it's in my 8 blend revolving rotation that I will be doing a video on today. Happy smokes my friend.
Another GREAT video! Very informational and helps those of us (like myself) who are new into pipe smoking to get reliable information in an easily digestible format. How do you make those stickers/labels that are applied to the top of the mason jar? I have been able to get SOME online but very few. If it is quite a process, might I suggest a video tutorial?! :) Thanks again! --Cheers!
You know what I really really appreciate? Somebody who is humble, well spoken, calm, kind, and REALLY KNOWS what they're talking about.
Two thumbs up man.
William Thomsen - Thank you very much for the kind words my friend. 👍👍👍

Have you ever tried Star of the East? I am loving the videos, keep it up!
Yes, it's a great blend. 😄😄👍
Another great video MCP.
Thanks AdventuRide 😄😄👍
For fear of being branded a tabacco Snob I would say that liking English blends is the prerequisite for being regarded as a serious Pipe smoker.

I ordered All the Frog Morton's and they are all really good. But Cellar is my favorite.
I have only tried the 2 Cellar, and On The Town, I'll have to try the others, thanks for the tip. 😃😃👍
