bro...ot's been 4 years since i got my PC...and i never knew GPUs needed thermal paste. My gpu usually goes to like 83C when i use it...this has been so helpful.
Asus fixed this on TUF 1660 Super OC (and RTX 2060 as I know). Comes in the same case, but with bigger heatsink and there is an extra Z shape heatsink on VRM.
@Epoch Gaming Forgive my english! I use the TUF-GTX1660-O6G-GAMING model. I followed a tutorial in Portuguese of an rtx 2060 taught how to make undervolt. ua-cam.com/video/vxkK2X75tYQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=GuigaGames
@Epoch Gaming hey, actually I did underpower my gpu by decreasing power limit slider, try setting it to 70% and see if its stable, mine used to get 85c too after that underpowering I got 10 degrees less, I've ASUS Phoenix model, also try changing thermal paste with something good like thermal grizzly but if you tight on budget use Arctic mx4
Hey, what were the temperatures on the card before the heatsinks? Currently, my card is running 86°C after 20mins benchmark with fresh thermal paste. 101°C on hotspot. I have no idea, did I do something wrong? Or is this normal?
I had it previously, bought it in 2019. The temperature was always high, a month ago i bought a 1080ti blower (hight temperatures too, but 85 max degree) and i cleaned my 1660, changed thermal paste and gave it to my girlfriend. Even in her case, that has better airflow than mine, the GPU its still hot, in demanding games like RDR2 it could reach 88/89C, but in the most part of games she plays it reachs 70/72 max degree, i guess this is ok.

hi thank you for the video its very helpful i wanted to ask you about something tho , the pcb is almost indentical to the gtx 1660s and in the super they added pads only on the 6 vrm , the last chipset on the lower part of the pcb has nothing to cool it down so why did you add a heatsink on it and not on the 5ft vrm ?!!
Nice video! Quick question though, can you share the link to where you bought the mini VRMS? I can't seem to find anything and I was thinking of doing something similar because I have the same card. Thx.
Guys try to avoid this card! the heatsink is horrible and runs in the 80 degrees celsius! (Asus says its normal) I managed to get it some 8 degrees cooler with better thermal paste and some deep cleaning..
Indeed, the fans are too loud and unefficient, and the card simply loves to heat up. Same experience with a 1650 Super TUF (runs at 70 degrees) and 1660 Super (touched 78 degrees).
Sir pare pareho lang ba na 2mm mga thermal pads ng 1660 super regardless sa brand? meron kasi akong asus, gigabyte at msi. lilinisin ko sana lahat at papalitan ng pads.balak ko sana bumili. Thanks!
bro question lang madikit ba ung termaltape nya??hirap kasi baka mamaya maalis then mahulog sa fan...salamat sa sagot..tagal na din nag hahanap ng vid ng 1660 na to..
I never tried that. But there is a version of this card I think it is the asus 1660s OC that has a different heatsink from this 1660 since on that card the heatsink has copper heat pipes. So you might be thinking that if you can attach the heatsink of ASUS 1660s OC to this Asus 1660. If you have the resources to try that then do it. There's a high probability that it would fit because I think they have the same PCB design.
@@lloydsab Update: 2 weeks later my graphics card been crashing a lot black screens 5 mins after turning on the pc, I think the vrms and the memory thermal pads are overheating , 2 years since I bought this card .

Since the heatsink of this card is trash, I only managed to lower it to 78c from 80c. The purpose of MOD heatsink is only to prolong the life MOSFET since it does not have any contact to heatsink which may lead for future failures if not addressed.

great video! I lowered the temperatures making untervolt to 862mv, it was at 65c in 99% gpu usage.

how much your temp after replace your gpu thermal past!?
3:01 is this a kind of thermal pad too? I dont understand, im about to change mine thermal pad, same gpu

ano kaya sira boss pag wala display at ung fan nya maingay tapos d nag stop

That is because their geniuses somehow decided to pack a heat sink as the size of a 1030 card, such a rubbish idea.
so what should i do if i want to decreese temp
i have this card and also it reached to 88

I agree!
I played cyberpunk 2077 with this cgu at high graphics template and had like 75 degrees celcius max. No overclocking and fans on auto.
Asus Phoenix version has the same heatsink - I guess they just re-used it with the TUF fan cooler

Will the 0.5mm thick thermal pads fit on this graphics card?
Don't tell me!Are 2.5mm thermal pads suitable??
The size of the stock thermal pad for this card is 2.0mm so I just followed what I just measured. 2.5mm might work but I am not so sure.

the heatsink gave me cancer
