Since this was filmed on the 7th of September 2020, I've received information from the Yorkshire Water Authority that the biggest concerns they have regarding the opening of Damflask is the safety of the bailiffs who patrol the venue and the concern over a method of keeping the day ticket machine clean and free from contamination. Damflask and Underbank are probably two of the safest places to go fishing in the country! They are huge venues and hardly anybody fishes them, you could social distance up there at 200m never mind 2m! As for tickets if YW had any sense they would make it free as a gesture of goodwill and also good PR in these difficult times.( The money generated from ticket sales must be absolutely minuscule , almost pointless, to company like YW).

Hi Jamie watching this from my bed and it seems a bit nonsensical! One of my local park waters you have to pre book and pay by bank transfer However there are no signs where I park and the local bailiff came along and told me to leave. I pointed out the lack of signs and all the people walking around, picnicking etc. He said there was sign at the other end of the lake and I pointed out that there were loads of people around and in large groups which meant that the Covid restrictions were just aimed at preventing fishing and nothing else! Oh Bill I know exactly what you mean. The ironic thing was also that I counted 20-30 people walking around each of the reservoirs just walking their dogs! haha
I fished Dam Flask for the first time last Tuesday. Had a good chat with the bailiff and even though I blanked I will fish there again. Did you get any answers from YW re Underbank?
Hi Jamie, it does seem a little ironic that they are still closed considering the Gov.uk position on fishing being as covid safe as any sport can be and the fact that commercial and public waters are open to one and all. As you know and I should imagine all who subscribe to both your channels that fishing in all its many forms is in reality as safe as its always been. Matches and boat charters are conducted under best practice to avoid contact and infection. The fact that both football and rugby matches are now permitted really should be putting Yorkshire water under a lot of pressure to re open its waters. I myself have fished a couple of matches at Bough Beech res along with a host of other anglers including some very high profile names. Bough Beech is controlled by Southern water so I don't think Yorkshire Water have too much of a case not to re open
Oh yeah I forgot about those matches on Bough mate! If anything (in my experience anyway!) I would have expected Bough to have been more strict than this reservoir as I know they are very keen on enforcing rules and safety as regards the dam wall there aren't they mate.
There has been no fishing allowed at underbank for over a year now not sure y tho I think Yorkshire water has not renewed a fishing lease but penistone angling maybe to shed so light on this
Penistone were told a lease would not be issued due to Bank side conditions etc. When they spoke to a contact at Yorkshire Water they were told the resevoir is likely to stay closed to fishing.
Good job Jamie, that'll keep the locals from getting in trouble with the authorities underbank really look's on point begging to be fished covid 19 is on the rise here bud, reckon we could see it over the whole country before October at this rate, the news for NI is stating the 20% increase overall for here and the doctors/scientists are caling for strong actions as we are higher than mainland!. Thanks for this video. I have been trying to contact #Yorkshirewater about this via social media and was basically ignored. Less than desirable customer service from a water company who apparently always chase positive customer satisfaction scores. Thanks again for the information and video :-)
If the fishery is closed, then the whole site shouuld be closed for access by dog-walkers, pinickers, walkers, and not just anglers. If the bailiffs consider the risk too high at these sites, they are obviously not patrolling them, and keeping access points shut and inaccesible. In my opinion, you should be reporting that anglers are fishing the venue. THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY AND IS NOT THE OPINION OF THE OWNER OF THIS CHANNEL.
I’ve done about 5 sessions on underbank in the past couple of month , on average I saw 5 people fishing and was left alone, had over 80lbs worth of bream on my last visit, brilliant venue
I’ve been fishing the lay by stretch, don’t get me wrong I’ve had a few bad sessions but I haven’t blanked as of yet, once the big boys come in you can expect one every Chuck, can’t beat the naturals
I've been travelling past that reservoir for the past 13 years on and off on the way to my wife's parents. After seeing Jamie's videos and hearing about the catches possible I'm mad keen to get on there now.
What utter nonsense from this authority fishing has been cleared by the government as being covid friendly and permitted as an activity. Bailiffs at commercials manage safely as for buying a ticket as far as I’m aware car parks issue tickets via machines cash points issue money get a grip!!
CATCH Fishing Channel you don’t see anyone cleaning them after every use ! Bonkers Jamie , at my own club we have supplied spray bottles for locks and bolts and you are required to carry hand gel it’s really not rocket science

Make it free to fish, therefore it won’t be a ticketed attraction...problem solved. They will have bigger problems without anglers on the bank as it’s free policing.

No mate, Underbank may not even re-open for anglers mate. That is something which is being discussed later this month mate. I'll keep you posted if I hear any updates.
I haven't fished either of these reservoirs Jamie, but I do remember doing some adventure training (think it was open water canoeing!) on Underbank res when I was in the army. Surely they could've used an online booking system or even been free fishing until a safer way to do things.

I use to fish dam flask when I was a nipper some 60 yrs ago, I now fish Ulley res which is open and offers some brilliant roach and bream fishing.

Yeah there has been an issue with the lease mate so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

I agree mate, it's amazing how having anglers on the bank can actually help 'protect' a fishery as they are constantly there to keep an eye on it.
