Once again a excellent review of the Muslim market Darren . You continue to bring a new perspective to Thai food selection the translation on the VLOG is a nice touch hanks
I recommend you start with whatever is closest. It's pretty hard to find bad food in Thailand. Here's some other suggestions in a video with 10 of my "must eat" dishes in Thailand ua-cam.com/video/uwgHstebGzs/v-deo.html That's also a good place to start :)
I really like the on the spot conversion for prices and the translations for the odd Thai word too. these little touches really improve the vids IMO. good work
Darren, I really enjoy your videos. I especially thank you for posting the currency in U.S. dollars. Gives me a better understanding of what prices are like over seas. thank you
Hi Darren hope you are all well mate. Most of that food looked unreal and tasty as especially that omelet. Have a great afternoon buddy. Greetings from Sydney
Hi, this is an amazing review. But as I have watched your previous videos, this market offers pretty much the similar stuff as the other ones in BKK. Having said that the curries on 7:20 looks interesting. Are there muslim markets like this in BKK, Phuket etc with that sort of curries? PS: I am going to Thailand next week, you really made me wanna try those sweets!
I'm afraid I live 850km from Bangkok and have spent limited time there, so I don't know if there are Muslim markets there. I've never seen a purely Muslim market in Phuket, they may be there, but I've never seen one. These types of curries are common in both pl aaces however, and you will find these curries, as well as Muslim vendors, at markets in both Bangkok and Phuket. Have a great holiday!
The green noodles are served in a dessert called Chendol/Cendol in Malaysia and Singapore. Usually with shaved ice, coconut milk and Gula Melaka syrup. Very sedap lah ;-)
Great video as always, Darren. However, nothing topped your teaching videos. Do you think we can expect more scenes from the classroom, or do you feel everything possible has already been done on that subject?
Hi, thanks for the message, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I don't work at a traditional style school any more, now I work at a tutoring school and teach class sizes of generally 2-6 students. However, I will make some more videos about teaching in Thailand in the future.
Very informative series of videos you have of the Krabi Markets. really useful material! Thank You. If I am planning a short trip and staying on Wed and Thursday, which halal night markets and food markets can i check out? Appreciate your advice.
Thanks! The only Halal market open then is the Thursday Market in Ao Nang. Google Maps coordinates: 8.055723, 98.817504. Open from 4pm till 7pm every Thursday. All markets in Krabi have lots of Halal food. The Wednesday Market in Ao Nang is great. Google Maps coordinates: 8.047804, 98.810975. Open from about 4pm till 7pm every Wednesday. On Wednesday night the Poo Dam market is open in Krabi Town (Google Maps coordinates: 8.066563, 98.915238. Open from 6pm till 9:30pm) and on Thursday Wednesday night the Thung Fa Andaman market is open in Krabi Town (Google Maps coordinates: 8.068395, 98.914032. Open from 6pm till 9:30pm). The Thung Fa Andaman market will be in my new video tomorrow.
Hi, thanks for your message. There is plenty of Indian food available in tourist areas throughout Thailand, unfortunately I don't eat it very often, the last time I bought Indian in Thailand was nearly 6 years ago. Similarly there are lots of vegetarian restaurants here and nearly all Thai restaurants do have vegetarian options available. Here's a video I made last year at a vegetarian restaurant in Thailand: ua-cam.com/video/2JijaqmZucI/v-deo.html I hope that helps.
Thanks 👍. The prices depend on what you want and vary wildly depending on that. Here are 2 Thai real estate sites that you can enter search using your requirements: www.thailand-property.com/ www.siamrealestate.com/
Really enjoying your videos mate, extremely informative. I grow a lot of unusual stuff on my allotment & I also go foraging for wild ingredients. Your videos have certainly given me a few ideas...
All the details are given in the description below the video: The market is in Khao Klom in Krabi Thailand and is open every Friday from 3pm till 6pm. The Google Maps coordinates of the market are 8.103725, 98.801433
All my videos have the locations in the description under the video. Under this video it says - The market is in Khao Klom in Krabi Thailand and is open every Friday from 3pm till 6pm. The Google Maps coordinates of the market are goo.gl/maps/fMmAXM9Gz692
It seems that they are not a lot of Boat noodle in Karbi. Love the food videos you made. I've watching them and take notes for our trip in April. Thanks for the great videos.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks a lot, I'm glad they've been helpful. You will find heaps of stalls and restaurants selling boat noodles and other noodles soups in Krabi Town, there's dozens of them there, but not so many in Ao Nang. I hope that helps.
Here's another new boat noodle place on the edge of Ao Nang that is very good facebook.com/pages/%E0%B8%81%E0%B9%8B%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A2%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B5%E0%B9%8B%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%A7%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B7%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%AD%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%87/756233757887187
Lol. I wasn't aware of that, but they do speak a Thai dialect here in the south of Thailand, some Malay words may have made their way into the dialect.
The locations for all the places in my videos are given in the description below the video- The Google Maps coordinates of the market are goo.gl/maps/fMmAXM9Gz692

You're welcome. I've never heard a Thai Muslim say, "Asalammuhaleikom". I've heard it in Malaysia and Australia, but never in Thailand. All Thais, including my Thai Muslim friends, have always greeted me with the Thai greeting and so I use and reciprocate with that.
Thai Muslim in Krabi can't speak Malay they are Thai Muslim only 3 province near Malaysia as Pattani Narathiwat and Yala they Thai Malay can speak Malay same language like kelate ( Kelantan )
This food did not seem as exciting as regular Thai food. And your muslim community is nothing like the muslims in America. Some were wearing 'pants' which does not appear to be allowed here. They are all in black drapey robes with faces covered. Only a few wear simple burqas. Thanks for trying more food...Nice vid.
Yes, it's a very small market, so there is less variety there. Most Muslims here are very relaxed and friendly, like most Thais in general, as you can see from the video. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Of course wearing pants as a Muslim is 'allowed' in America. Sharia law is only a thing in a few countries, so Muslims interpret and adapt religion for their life differently throughout the world, even within the same country. In America you can see Muslim women wearing nothing religious at all, a head scarf, or a burka as you noted. You don't see every Christian wearing a cross or rosary beads, do you?
+riffzilla What you see in your area and I see in mine must be 'different'. I wasn't speaking FOR America, only what I see in my area. When I commented on simple burqa's, it was in contrast to the full face headgear I see...not that iit is the only garb they are wearing. I didn't bring up sharia at all. To each his own...

Thanks! I'm sure you'll have a great time here :)
I can't wait its less than a week away! I want to know what foods you recommend I get first?
I recommend you start with whatever is closest. It's pretty hard to find bad food in Thailand. Here's some other suggestions in a video with 10 of my "must eat" dishes in Thailand

Great useful video, thank's for showing us!
as you move away from the tourist area, the prices are so affordable and authentic Thai living. how far do you think this town is from Krabi town?
Yes, that's true. This town is about 20 km from Krabi Town.
The first two look like they would make a great breakfast. Amazing what's available for 10b too. Not long for me. :)
Yes, plenty of 10 baht choices at that market! I bet you're counting down the days ;)
Yes, indeed. And when it gets to fingers only I can even do the math. :)
Hahaha

Are you aware that some of the vendors were speaking Malay? I heard a vendor telling another vendor where to dump the garbage.
Lol. I wasn't aware of that, but they do speak a Thai dialect here in the south of Thailand, some Malay words may have made their way into the dialect.
