I've had my Audio Engine 5's since 2007. Love them. Great output, clean, bassy, and hit hard. Never skipped a beat.
Thanks for sharing!
Sorry, I have them and they have no treble. Heard any cymbals lately?
So many great options. Thanks for breaking this down so well.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching.
Nice list. Huge fan of the fives. Thanks for the video.
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching.
I picked up a Kanto yumi at a thrift store for five dollars and now I’m getting rid of all my amplifiers my 300 cd player my DVD player and keeping my turntable. What an amazing sound especially when I hooked up my subwoofer. Technology has come along way.
Rock on! Thanks for watching.
The Klipsch Fives are so versatile; I love mine!
We love them too. Thanks for watching!
Great comparison video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Many great options!
We agree! Thanks for watching, Tyler!
Thumbs up for Peachtree M24s, I just bought a pair from you all and they sound great with the Pro-ject Carbon Evo.
Thanks, those are one of our favorites! Great combo you have!
I own the fives with an Elac sub1010 and have been very happy. They sound amazing
Sounds like a nice combo, thanks for sharing!
The fives are just amazing
Yes, they are a great powered speaker with a lot of connection options
Audio Engine 5’s are awesome!
Yes, they are a great value, thanks for watching
Thank you for the review! Do you know which brand allows to interconnect speakers that are in different rooms (for example turntable and TV)?
Thank you, great question. We picked these speakers more as a solution for an all in one system. If you wanted to have your turntable sound in more than one room, a solution from Sonos or Bluesound would work well. You could connect your turntable to one of their components, then any other component in the system has access to the signal. Thanks for watching
I have the Fives (purchased from these guys) and love them. Was considering an upgrade to KEF LS 50 wireless II. Solely for vinyl. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Greetings friend! For the right person, KEF are pretty nice products. Our list is based on price and features to complement vinyl listening plus a lot more. Having said that, if you want the best next step up to upgrade from The Fives - the right powered speaker will usually come down to your needs, your room, budget, and preferred genre of music, so if you need help deciding which one is right for you, come have a chat with one of our vinyl listening experts in chat at audioadvice.io/aa-chat and we will be glad to help you you out! Glad it was helpful!
I bought the Fives and the Kanto TUK. The Kanto blew me away. Less bass, but the Fives were muddy compared to the TUKS. So clear and detailed compared to the Fives. Worth buying different options at same time if you can to compare. I was for sure sold on the Fives until I compared them both in front of me.
Thanks for this!
I'm seriously torn on which I want more... I think I may use one set for my pc and others for my TV at this point
Hi Marcus. If you're considering getting both for different ergonomic situations, we would recommend using The Fives with your TV since The Fives have the ARC HDMI connection and so they have the added bonus of being a soundbar replacement. Link to individual review here: www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/klipsch-the-fives-powered-speaker-system The Fives work beautifully with a PC as well, but if you are already using those with your TV, then Kanto TUK would would be fantastic with your PC. Link to individual review here: www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/kanto-tuk-powered-speakers-review/ Thanks for watching!
The Fives benefit greatly from a decent external dac to alleviate the clarity issue. I recommend the affordable Fosi Q4 or Aiyima A2 (same dac). This not only cleans up the output by itself but also adds tone controls for further tweaking. Huge upgrade to otherwise killer speakers (that do need a little added sparkle).
That seems reasonable. The reason I went with the fives is simple: possible future firmware support. Plus, sticking a dummy cable in the subwoofer out to enable the crossover cleans the mids up considerably
Plus, you can run them in "fun mode" with the added bass and they're a joy to set up for a party.
The fives give you more options. In bass cut mode (a current firmware update) or with the subwoofer out cable used to enable the crossover, these speakers probably sound every bit as good as the tuk's
Did you think the fives cleaned up when using bass cut mode? Were they still worse than the tuk's
Great video. I already have The Fives, but was wondering if I can get more from them by putting an amplifier between them and my Turntable?
You can always use an external phono stage and get even more out of these, but the phono stage that's already in The Fives is VERY good. If you're interested in an external phono stage, come have a chat with one of our vinyl listening experts at www.audioadvice.com/ so we can help you squeeze every last drop of performance from The Fives and a turntable. Thanks for watching.
Nice video, currently use Audioengine and Edifier powered speakers
Thank you!
@@AudioAdvice I am using the Edifier r1280db right now since I'm a newbie on vinyl. I would like to upgrade it but with speakers that are smaller since I want to go for a minimalist setup. Is it worth going for the Audioengine a2+?
@@life.onmars The A2+ is great for its size but does not have a lot of bass. The A2+ with a subwoofer you could hide would be a good choice. Audio Engine makes a good subwoofer that is fairly small in size www.audioadvice.com/audioengine-s6-powered-subwoofer-grey
@@AudioAdvice appreciate this! So i guess the a2+ isn't what I'm looking for. Do you have any suggestions with the same price point? I just want something that's compact, has great bass, and under 300usd.
@@life.onmars Compact and great bass don't go together :) We have not heard the Edifier so its possible the A2+ has roughly the same level of bass, you could always add a sub later
Hey, thanks for the video. Without a preamp or receiver once the turntable already has preamp and I will buy active speakers, can you help me informing what is the best way to connect two speakers with the turntable?

ah kudos on 'brother in arms' in the background :D

Love my Klipsch Fives! They are absolutely awesome!
I’ve been looking at those. Want to have a nice setup in my bedroom. You think they will do well?
They're our favorite on this list too! Thanks for watching.
The Five can be used as a soundbar replacement, Bluetooth and a turtable. As a setup for your bedroom, these are perfect. You can read more about The Fives in our full-written review: www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/klipsch-the-fives-powered-speaker-system Thanks for watching.
Great video. My only complaint is there was nothing about frequency response. Which of these reproduce the lowest frequencies?
Also, how are the Klipsch Sixes compared to the Fives? They seem to be around the same price right now, so I was thinking of getting The Sixes since it seems more likely I could skip a subwoofer with them. I don't care about having massive bass since I mostly listen to rock music. However, I don't want the bass to be nonexistent either. Do The Fives have any advantages over the Sixes that I should know about? My room is mid-sized. Not massive but not small.
The Fives probably go the deepest of the ones in the video. The Peachtree M25 also go very deep too. The Fives have a newer high frequency driver over the Sixes and are smoother sounding to us. Although the Sixes will go deeper.
I've been looking into getting a turntable and powered speakers. Since i want it minimalistic im really leaning towards the Kanto Yu6s. They do have a sub out, right? Thing is i want to get rid of the soundbar i have atm and the older sub. Being able to use optical and the turntable will be awesome, if im not misstaken they do have bluetooth aswell with aptx.
Thanks alot for a good video.
Much love from Sweden
Yes they do. You may also want to check out our updated video here: ua-cam.com/video/lS4VGjSxXgQ/v-deo.html

@@AudioAdvice just saw the updated video, im confident the Yu6's will be perfect, since im looking for an all white setup. Thanks alot for the videos, well made and on point :-)
If my turntable already has a built in pre-amp (but I can switch it from phono to line to turn off the built in pre-amp), would the sound be better by using the pre-amp from the turntable or the speakers?
Great question, it would depend on the turntable and the speakers. Most of the preamps built into both speakers and turntable as just so so though and a separate one does perform better. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the list. One question, any one has the Airplay 2? Thanks.
None of them have Airplay, most powered speakers have gone to Bluetooth- thanks for watching
Have you tried and tested Mitchell Acoustics speaker?
Greetings! For the right person, Mitchell Acoustics makes some pretty nice products. Our list is based on price and features to complement vinyl listening plus a lot more. If you are familliar with the m300 mkiii+, how would you stack them against the fives? Which one is better regardless of price?
Sorry we are not familiar with those. Thanks for watching
Harman Kardon Studio 4!
Hi. Can I use Bose S1 (two) for my future turntable Fluance rt85 that I want to purchase including the preamp? thank you
We are not a Bose dealer, but it appears the S1 is some kind of pro blue tooth speaker. It does have analog inputs, so it should work, but you'll need adapter cables to match the input
What about Marshall Acton 2 or 3?
Are the Kantus better than your standard Edifier bookshelf speakers?
Hi Joshua. For the right person, Edifier are pretty nice products. Our list is based on price and features to complement vinyl listening plus a lot more. Kanto and the others on this list are simply the best of breed in terms of powered speakers voiced for vinyl listening with high-performance turntables. These are the ones that really stand out. @@AudioAdvice peach tree better? Thanks for your reply. I am using a turntable .
Everybody talks about The Fives but you dont hear about The Sixes. IF you were putting those up against each other wouldn't the Sixes win? I'm just curious, because I need to make a decision. 5 or 6?
Great question. We think the Five's are much more musical. The Sixes were a little to bright for us. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice Thanks for the reply!

@@renejolicoeur6289 Now the Seven's and Nine's are out. I bought the Fives's a year ago and run a Klipsch 12" 400 watt self powered Sub. Very happy. If money was no object, I'd buy the 7's or 9's just to experience them. They are expensive though!
I have a question. I have an 11channel AVR that can amplify 9 channels at once. I want to use all 11 channels using a 7.2.4 setup. that means two channels will need amplification. I want to use powered bookshelves like the fives for side surrounds rather than buying another amplifier. Since the 2nd speaker gets power and signal from the main speaker, if I use two RCAs cables from pre outs of the AVR, to the phono ins of the fives. will it be able to passthrough the signal of Surround L to left speaker and Surround R to right speaker or it will just split one signal into two?
Technically that will work, yes, you just want to assure the Fives power up at the same volume level every time.

I have a curiosity. why no one on youtube has done a deep review on the sony SSHA-3 speakers??

A rear-ported cabinet is a "non-starter" for smaller condos and most apartments.
I will not consider a rear-ported speaker (bc bass transfers yo surrounding rooms and apartments/condos).
Oh,didnt know that,so apt buyers should look for front ports?
I'm no expert and have only been looking for speakers for just over a week but isn't the comparison of Yu4 with the Klipsch
incorrect? Would this not make the Kantio’s better as the low end YU4 iscompared the against the top end Klipsch (200 vs £700)

what about rb42 alternative or a like from this list?
This was a list of self powered speakers that had a phono input. The RB42 (which appears to be an Amazon brand) is a passive speaker that requires and amplifier. Thanks for watching
@@AudioAdvice its Canadian brand by micca , i know it's need amp i recommend you watch reviews about them. yes they need amp. i looked for something that powered but sound like them cause the amp make it's 250usd which is high tax fee for export to my country

It's funny how nobody talks about Blitzwolf
What does he look like someone help me
I was tolddd to go passive instead of powered etc. Any response?
Evan- great question. The short answer is powered speakers have become very popular due to the fact they are self contained, simple to set up, and some sound really good for their price. Only powered speakers with analog processing should be paired with a turntable. If the processing is digital, what is the point to buy a turntable? Connect them to a computer.
