guages look sweet but you should change the back light for the guages to a white LED bulb and change the needles to white as well that will make it pop more and give more of a contrast, seen as how the oem backlight is orange and the needles are orange
That's not a bulb change,the whole face is the gauges silk screened on an orange film. So the bulb is already white,it just shines thru and orange filter
Gauge cluster goes in so much better when you slide it up into the hole. Tilt it back 45 degrees and pop the wires on. No need for a fancy tool to remove the harness ? And no stress reinstalling the wires or the cluster. You're trying to hold the cluster outside of its resting home. Try closing that gap. Cluster install is a breeze. Literally 20 seconds max
Late comment, but theres a secondary bulb for the airbag light. Its hidden slightly above the other bulb and your not able to remove. What I did is took a small screwdriver and broke the backup bulb. I believe it's there for a safety back up in case the bulb blew. Nice video, love the red!
I really would love the red in my all black e36…. But I’m not that mechanical. I would lose all those screws. Forget where I got them from and break some shut. But how much if I was inclined?
You guys mentioned changing the bulbs. I recently bought myself an e36, took the cluster out and tried replacing two bulbs to the best of my knowledge because half of my cluster will only light up at night where the gauges are. Also my miles don’t seem to ever really show up either but some days all the numbers will pop on for just a minute or so and go back to being halfway lit up. Any suggestions? If it’s not a bulb issue Ik assuming it’s something else internally with me not getting a strong connection with the wiring or with those clips that plug into the back of the cluster.
U can change the whole cluster and convert the miles,even get the special dash light that is triggered only when one tampers with the odometer. There's videos on here instead gotta find them
Anybody know if you can easily swap the little motor that rotate the needles ? I got 2 gauge cluster for my e36 but the one i want have needle issues, km/h and rpm only moove passed 40km/h and 3000rpm that’s seems like a little electric motor issue....
You should remove the NEGATIVE cable, not the positive cable. Electrons are negatively charged and electricity flows from the negative to positive. Even when the positive cable is removed you can create a circuit.

The bulb for the airbag is on the right side when you pointed at it on the table it was upside down so took out whatever was on the far left lol

on 4 of my e36s it had a bulb and a small red SMD LED on the bored . I guess so if the bulb burned out it would still light up.

There is a extrea LED on the PCB which lights up when the airbag lamp is broken or removed. I have got also an e36 Class 2

Now you need to paint those red arrows to black where showing the speed and RPM

The red background makes it difficult to see the red indicator arm. I would suggest painting the arms white.
