I managed to film our home economics cooking class~ it's probably very similar to the cooking classes in the west but hey, it was still good fun haha!
The group of people in this vid were my homeroom classmates~ we took most classes together :)

@Otaku hunter Not all the time. But I guess the want to hold up and be respected not to mention (within my family at least) the want to do well in your family. Maybe it's because I grew up like this, but anything below 90-85 is not a good grade. To me I consider it failing. My parents have never checked my grades cause they just expect them to be good. We tend to be polite to people we don't know and my friends and us, we tend to have a sort of drive to want to learn and do better. I don't know if it's just they way we were raised or if it's some sort of obsession to beat the person next to us in basically everything. We try to respect the way others respect us. Now if they show us no respect, I probably won't be to kind. But that's sort of a rare occurrence in the south. So.
If the public school system in America actually gave a crap about helping students. Then we wouldn't feel so out of place and disrespectful to many shitty teachers..

Cooking class for us as beginners is microwave food and lots of safety
Then you move onto other things in the next year. I didnt take it tho because it was more safety practice before we actually started to make stuff and even then, most of it was safety involved

Schools in Malaysia do this too. We learned life skills through a subject. But now the subject had been changed.

Subhadra Mahanta we only had it in middle school. I’ve been cooking since I could reach the buttons on the stove, so I didn’t need the class, but I think every child should be taught how to cook and bake. It’s an important life skill, and important to bodily health
@@IAmNotYourProblem I agree, I can cook cause I learned it from home but cooking with different kind of people teaches you many things about each others cuisine and is really an important survival tool.

except the amount of homework they have to do, the really really long school days, the competitive school system where everyone has to be the best, the cram schools (juku) which a third of the young population attends on weekends that even led to people to commit suicide....
I'd take my shit school over a Japanese school system any day of the week.

Omg it's so amazing that this was a 2013 class. Imagine what happened to these kids now. Probably some of them are already successful in whatever they're doing in life then the others probably already settle and have kids. This makes me so emotional 😭

Nah lots of high schools are high energy like this. Work life I'm sure sucks like everywhere else, actually even moreso because they normally work more hours than other countries or so I hear.
Sure, visiting can be loads of fun but having been born there is not as fun as you might think. Speaking for my co-workers here

I miss the cooking classes. They were very exhausting but also very rewarding at the same time. My favorite part was when we would sit together at the end and eat each other's food we had spent over an hour making. Making and eating food with your close ones will always be enjoyable.

Secondary schools in the UK do food tech courses.
This should be done in every school.Some parents spoil their kids too much especiall guys and when they are adults then they don´t know how to cook at all and buy junk food instead...

My high school’s (American public school) cooking class is something you have to sign up for voluntarily and it goes over cooking in more of a professional manner, ie taking a food handling test and knowing proper techniques. Advancing to the second year of the course requires an interview with the instructor. Once you’re in the 2nd year course, it gets pretty serious where you start taking part in the class’s built in extracurricular elements such as working in a cafe that the instructor manages in the school to raise funds and also compete in competitions. You don’t need interviews for any advancing classes, but at that point you’re just competing and creating recipes which makes things real casual.
in American my cooking class was much fancier as in utensils and setting, but not as fun and enjoyable as this. my point is you can have the best things, but they mean nothing if you don't enjoy them ........

in my school's cooking class we learn table manners how to clean the kitchen we clean it every Fall, Christmas, Easter and the last day of school in summer. Basics of preparing food and also a few difficult things.

I guess Japan's Schools are the most fun school in the world. I know, school can be better with friends but i've never went to school that has this kind of activities as a normal daily school process. My high school is only focused on education, we hardly have something fun like this. And the results, the students are not really taking the school that serious because they thought it was boring , plus teenage nowadays prefer playing around than just sitting on the chair and listen to the teachers for hours.
And what's the harm of doing activities like this ? It's teaching us how to survive in the future, it's not like education is the only thing matter. I just hope school realised how important this is.
Yea, I feel the same way about it, I get education is important, and it is! But to get to do something everyone can somewhat participate in without having to be bored yet still learn for the future would be really nice.

I'm from Italy, and here we don't have any extracurricular activies at all. After lessons (6 hours a day), everyone just pack it up and leave the school in less than 3 minutes.
You can join """"""clubs""""" like the school journal or theater laboratory (I'm in both), but they are quite boring and nobody really take 'em seriously.
The school journal reunion last, like, 10 minutes. Then everyone just go home and work on their PC.
It's kinda sad. Nobody really see school as a place were to grow, just as a prison.
I honestly hate my high school, but even if I know I want to go ti a foreign university, I still hope things will change, cuz I don't really feel like wasting other 2 years of school just waiting for university/college...
