Scott, you were my lecturer at St Mary's University, back in 2013. You were awesome to listen to and I thoroughly enjoyed all of your classes. I am currently back in Gibraltar, working as an English teacher but with a foot in the movie industry! Take care.
As a teen I read Damnation Alley in an s-f magazine and loved it. Didn't know it came out in novel form. The movie version is rotten. Also read Wolfbane around that time, hoping it might involve a werewolf, and emerged mostly confused. Had really enjoyed Space Merchants and Search the Sky. What great covers.
Interesting... Wolfbane was the weirdest and least successful of the Pohl/Kornbluths I've read, but haven't gotten to SEARCH yet... I love those matching covers too! s
Hi Scott I read damnation alley and loved it Zelazny is a great read .My favourites by him are lord of light and This immortal . I keep meaning to pick up some kuttner but not sure the best place to start with him . Great episode 🫡 thanks
I really like the old Ballantine "Best of Kuttner", his short/longish stories are his best stuff, as well as the CL MOORE collection (they often wrote interchangeably on one another's stories...) Thanks, bathing buddy!
I have a best of volume of Zelanzy I plan to read soon. Damnation Alley was filmed in 1977, with George Peppard killing time between Banacek and The A Team. The movie is so wretched that when I saw it at age 8 I knew it was horrible! Find it and watch it!
I managed to miss the movie... Zelazny did a hard boiled novel or two for Hard Case Crime before he died, and used the Chandler style frequently in his sf...

Great to hear from you, Nigel! Stay safe in Gibraltar and one foot in the door at all times-or they'll slam it in your face! Good luck! s
"Let's kick some interdimensional butt!' Sounds like a good t-shirt.

Scott would it be possible for you to do some reviews of books by Yukio Mishima?
Someday maybe! I never read much of him, more stuff about him! s

Nice books! You mentioned Philip Jose Farmer: have you ever discussed him in more detail? I used to be a big "World of Tiers" fan.
Yes he's come up over the years, I loved those early Tiers books as a kid. I think we reread STONE GOD AWAKES a short while back... stay safe, Cy! s
