Thought people would like to know that Orphan of Kos killed Julia more times than every boss in Dark Souls 1 combined! 123 deaths for Orphan vs Dark Souls combined total of 114
"So beatable" is the epitome of self confidence. It's not saying that the boss is easy to beat, but rather a mantra that tells you that you yourself can rise above the challenge and grow beyond your limits to achieve something new. Congrats to Julia for defeating the horrible screaming shrimp man. He truly was so beatable.
Fun fact: Orphan of Kos’ weird screams are made from a royalty free sound library sample called “Funny Man Yells in Medium High-Pitched tone” which is also where Peppino’s scream from Pizza Tower comes from! (I thought I posted this on the first vod fighting Orphan, but apparently it didn’t go through lol)
It's funny how many of Bloodborne's iconic sounds are just taken from sound libraries. I've noticed the visceral attack sound pop up in one or two other games too and the Cleric Beast scream is used by at least one of the Ganon fights in Breath of the Wild
i saw this comment while ads were playing before the video and thought it was an exaggeration. and then when the video loaded i actually screamed a little bit
"Fairy tales are important, not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be BEATEN." - G.K. Chesterton quote that I just thought MIGHT be applicable ... Great job, Julia!!!
I get where Julia’s coming from that the phrase “He’s so beatable” implies an ease, and it really makes me see my own warped relationship with success and self worth reflected in Julia’s. I should probably talk to my therapist about it… Hey, Karina…
The thing is that this game and this boss were /designed/ to be beatable. The game would not have launched if the boss wasn’t beatable or was only beatable due to a glitch. The game devs /want/ you to beat all their fun little bosses, they just want you to also work hard for it and earn it. So yes, he is so beatable! He’s hard, but he’s very very beatable because he is designed to be.
@@anastasijahabarova1533 Oh, I get that, but I honestly don't think the reality of developer intention/game design has anything to do with it. The way I interpreted what Julia said, it's not that she expects the game itself to be easy, but that she doesn't feel like she's truly succeeded unless she did the hard thing easily. I'm basing that off something she described about why she refuses to engage with many of the leveling/weapon mechanics, which the devs also intend for players to use. To paraphrase, she said that if she can't beat the bosses by just dodging and hitting, then she doesn't deserve to beat them. Now obviously there's nothing wrong with that at a surface level; that's what challenge runs are all about, but normally people don't expect that caliber of themselves the first time they play a game. There's also something about the way she used the word "deserve" that makes it feel like a mental/emotional hangup rather than anything to do with game design philosophy. Man, this took a serious turn from what was originally just a joke callback to the Therapist Karina bit from Drawfee stream.
Thank you so much, I literally accidentally passed out for a nap while trying to catch up on this VOD and forgot that happened so when I went to watch the final Bloodborne VOD just now I was like. Just because Jacob asked, my method of beating the final Elden ring DLC boss was fully upgrading Taylew and standing behind him to heal him constantly with Erdtree great heal 😂 and then at one point throwing a couple of Hefty Rot Pots at him to help Taylew along. I couldn't beat him in the 50 times I tried until I played second fiddle to Taylew.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm skipping to the end when Julia beats him but I will be playing the full vid on mute in the background to get view time up, love you guys
My best friend and I have recently started playing elden ring coop together, be prepared for a lot of odd bugs! Thankfully most of them can be solved by reconnecting or sitting at a grace, but expect occasional crashes.. The way we play - since he's a souls veteran and I'm pretty new to it - is I say where we go and he guides me through, mentions questlines and interesting items/weapons to pick up and I try them out. It's been super fun and I'm excited to see how it'll go for you two!
I'm 15 mins into the video and listening to the audio as I lie in bed. That boss Julia is fighting sounds like Jacob having a tantrum and smashing up his pizza restaurant as yet another pizza flies off the peel onto the floor for no reason 🤣🤣
Who's out here saying jacobs coreographic memorization for elden ring is crazy, that's what I did with Malenia and every other hard boss. Granted Malenia took me 400+ attempts, so maybe that is the problem
I'm an hour and a half in. A couple of times, I've started scrolling through comments, and thought "oh I should be pausing the video to read these in case I miss something" and then I tell myself "oh wait this video is 4 hours long, I can't afford to sit around with it paused" This is still entertaining, even though it was clearly a slog much of the time. Jacob and Julia are just funny people. Also, I just moved, and have set up my bookshelves and reorganized craft supplies during these Kos fights, so that's been nice.
I like the idea of Jacob as the lady on the field at a football game that tries to interview the players and couch during breaks but with souls like players. It do feel like he needs the hand mic to really sell the look.

I tuned in just in time to see Julia do it live. Don’t worry Past Julia you can do it. On the topic of ER SotE I spent two days with my magic build getting my but kicked before I changed to a Fingerprint shield Bloodfork bleed build. It still took a while but like Orphan of Kos was totally beatable.
As a long time beard haver that is the same general setup I use and I've tried a lot of the basic beard and mustache combos. I don't have any advice on brands, but I like the electric ones. Super convenient to use and clean up, if you shave into a clean dry sink it is easy to brush the pile into your hand and throw it into the toilet so it doesn't clog the sink when you do a big shave
Congrats to Julia on beating Orphan of Kos! A lot of people consider him the hardest boss in any Fromsoft game. I haven't finished Shadow of the Erdtree so maybe his crown has been taken. But he's still an incredibly difficult boss, and beating him is something to be very proud of. I remember when I first beat him, I was so amped up I was shaking, and then I triggered the cutscene and the narrator said "Oh sweet child of Kos" and I thought about anyone calling that horrible screaming crying shrimp toddler I'd just beaten "sweet child", and the tension released and I burst out laughing and laughed until I had a stomach cramp. Good times.
1:46:35 There's a board game called Call to Adventure. Very much up that alley, though it is pretty specific to high fantasy. edit: Like, 2 minutes later chat mentions it
Just to say again what EVERYONE HAS BEEN SAYING, *JULIA*: Julia is so casually to best bloodborne player I've ever seen and it's absolutely insane. The fact that this is the only boss that Julia bumped up against this hard, but there are multiple bosses I got stuck on for DAYS if not weeks. She's incredible.
I think "He's so beatable" is my new mantra for any difficult task. I like it because it feels like I'm disrespecting my own anxiety and negative self-talk like no, my anxiety is a liar, this paperwork? he's so beatable.

I'm struggling on the final (final) boss of hollow knight, absrad, and putting this vod in in the background reminds me im not the only person to struggle with a game! Thank you julia for not giving up and reminding me that every boss is so beatable
ok, this almost kinda made me think of what might be an interesting drawfee episode idea? at first i was thinking that we need an eye tracker to see what julia's eyes are doing because what she said made no sense to me. then i thought what would be even more interesting is if we saw jacob do a few runs and julia do a few runs and hten have them look at each other's eye tracking footage so they could understand each other better as to what they focus on. then i thought a really neat drawfee ep idea would be for eye-tracking telephone: one artist draws a prompt, then the next artist spends 1 minute (or some reasonable amount of time) looking at the picture with eye tracking on. the next artist then get to watch video of the eyetracking where they can only see what the eye tracking sees, and then they attempt to recreate the picture. would be neat to see how folks focus on different details, and kinda get to experience looking through each other's eyes. alternatively, find a way to set up an eye tracking paintbrush so that maybe it erases areas that are focused on for too long in order to force artists to draw using their peripheral vision. idk, i jsut think eye tracking is neat and i think it's relatively easy to use and novel enough to have fun with.
I fcking hate "draw 100 of ______, but each has to be different" art prompts. My fuckass teacher never explained it well and I "did it wrong" and I was told to redo it, I was annoyed and discouraged, and never did it. My teachers all sucked at their job. Luckily that changed when the old school moved to a brand new campus and the teachers were finally SUPERVISED. 😩
On the subject of weird art projects like VERMIS and such, I've been getting into book-binding and I want to see if I can get good enough to make a book that looks like something weird that fell into this world from another dimension. Like a chronicle of something completely batshit that never happened, but here's this book, right?
I refuse to skip to the winning run bc this was me against Traitor Lord in hollow knight and I will honor each and every attempt Julia makes even if it’s a lot of YEEEOWWWWs and AAAGGHHHHs and So CLOSE!s along the way 😤🤞
As a person thats actively going to therapy (and has been for quite a while) for self confidence, it’s reassuring to see someone else also trying to work on it. Cause sometimes it feels like, “yeah why can’t I just say ‘he’s so beatable’ or ‘I’m great at this game’ when it seems so easy to do?” But really it’s more like overcoming a really hard boss. Idk if any of this makes sense, but either way, thanks for the great content and wish everyone the best!
0:02:00 "If you've got a better way of beating the final boss of the Elden Ring DLC, I'd love to see it! If you've got a way that doesn't involve memorizing each combo string, then... you've gotta tell me your methods, cause I don't know what that method is." Jacob, what are you talking about? You KNOW the method... it's just 'dodge and hit'! It's that simple! (Joke) You're gonna get him tho!
I played You Waken In A Strange Place for the first time with my fam! We were a talking squirrel and garden gnome commune, but twist! The owner of the garden as taken up falconry! It was fun.
I'm not likely to ever beat Orphan of Kos, cause I just don't have the video game time in my life anymore, but I am going to ride this vod out to live vicariously through Julia and pay my dues in some form.
Oh hey, mantras make me feel worse too! Positive self-talk is really important, but it doesn't have to come in the form of repeated or forced affirmations. I recommend listening to your gut, and if a therapy technique is making you feel bad then put it to one side (even if seemingly everyone says it should make you feel good). You can always come back to it later, maybe reflect on whether the bad feelings are communicating something, but sometimes a particular technique is simply Not For You, and that's ok. There's infinite variety among human brains so there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all technique. I've been in therapy for many year for trauma, I've done a lot of healing, and mantras/affirmations have never been helpful to me!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm skipping to the end when Julia beats him but I will be playing the full vid on mute in the background to get view time up, love you guys
This VOD helped me finally beat Maliketh in my first Elden Ring run.
That boss Julia is fighting sounds like Jacob having a tantrum and smashing up his pizza restaurant as yet another pizza flies off the peel onto the floor for no reason 🤣🤣
wait yeah it totally does omg
This was WORTH IT IT WAS SO AWESOME
"He's not so beatable" moments that made me laugh:
3:31:56
3:40:15
Who's out here saying jacobs coreographic memorization for elden ring is crazy, that's what I did with Malenia and every other hard boss. Granted Malenia took me 400+ attempts, so maybe that is the problem
I'm an hour and a half in. A couple of times, I've started scrolling through comments, and thought "oh I should be pausing the video to read these in case I miss something" and then I tell myself "oh wait this video is 4 hours long, I can't afford to sit around with it paused"
This is still entertaining, even though it was clearly a slog much of the time. Jacob and Julia are just funny people.
Also, I just moved, and have set up my bookshelves and reorganized craft supplies during these Kos fights, so that's been nice.
I fucking screamed! Yes Julia! Fuck yes!
I like the idea of Jacob as the lady on the field at a football game that tries to interview the players and couch during breaks but with souls like players. It do feel like he needs the hand mic to really sell the look.
for Jacobs game concept, i would like to jokingly pitch the title "I awaken and I am strange to myself"
or "You Awaken In Your Strange Self"
genuinely had no idea that ben & jerry's had started making oatmilk ice cream, thank you SO MUCH for that info! genuinely! oatmilk ice cream is SO HARD to come by bc they ALWAYS just use coconut milk (which i'm allergic to!), so FINALLY for so many good flavors to be available in oatmilk?!?! ADHUAGHGAUHG AMAZING
jacob yapping strat also super helpful to me lol
okay anyway back to watching julia work on defeating this fucker lol
I think they also have some almond milk ones too, or at least they do in my area! I love that they're so willing to try stuff
@@annikan42 agreed! it's definitely wonderful that they're branching out! it's awesome for ppl w various allergies, intolerances, & dietary restrictions ☺
(however i am also, unfortunately, allergic to almonds lol it's the tree nuts! damn em all lolol)
Super convenient to use and clean up, if you shave into a clean dry sink it is easy to brush the pile into your hand and throw it into the toilet so it doesn't clog the sink when you do a big shave
damn who was pissing for 1,5 hours?!?
Orphan of Kos, every time Julia came back to see him
I immediately jump to Julia defeating Kos! Yeah let’s go Julia! I’ve always believed in you
Settling in to watch the VOD, ready to cheer Julia on to beat Orphan of Kos. It's 4 hours long. 🙃 Go Julia go!
This... this is a 4 hour video... I hope Julia survives the challenge!
Almost at the end, and Julia surviving this is looking unlikely.
well, that took a lil’ while… glad to see that Julia IS human after all… 😅
I did not think I was going to hear “boil the gun in the hot dog water” during this vod
Very much up that alley, though it is pretty specific to high fantasy.
edit: Like, 2 minutes later chat mentions it
Julia apparently does what I do during ffxiv dungeons, which is completely unfocused vision, just vibe.
Julia is REALLY good at talking and playing games. I don't know how she does it, I become an angry little goblin when I'm stuck on souls bosses
All throughout the vod, all I could think was one simple thing: he's so beatable (especially post-Elden Ring DLC final boss).
Orphan and the final Elden Ring DLC boss were absolute roadblocks for me a while.
If you’re running an intelligence build , impenetrable thorns absolutely shreds Radahn.
I think "He's so beatable" is my new mantra for any difficult task. I like it because it feels like I'm disrespecting my own anxiety and negative self-talk like no, my anxiety is a liar, this paperwork? he's so beatable.
For anyone else who wanted to save this info, like I did:
2:40:26 Jacob's special sandwich
Sliced chicken
Cheese
Egg
Tomato
Chipotle mayo
Toasted bread
i was not prepared for the gifted kid therapy session at the end there… 🙃
I'm struggling on the final (final) boss of hollow knight, absrad, and putting this vod in in the background reminds me im not the only person to struggle with a game! Thank you julia for not giving up and reminding me that every boss is so beatable
2:43:04 it’s not ridiculous to say it depends on the fry, cuz it could totally be the kind of oil that either upsets or doesn’t upset your tummy
ok, this almost kinda made me think of what might be an interesting drawfee episode idea? at first i was thinking that we need an eye tracker to see what julia's eyes are doing because what she said made no sense to me. then i thought what would be even more interesting is if we saw jacob do a few runs and julia do a few runs and hten have them look at each other's eye tracking footage so they could understand each other better as to what they focus on.
then i thought a really neat drawfee ep idea would be for eye-tracking telephone: one artist draws a prompt, then the next artist spends 1 minute (or some reasonable amount of time) looking at the picture with eye tracking on. the next artist then get to watch video of the eyetracking where they can only see what the eye tracking sees, and then they attempt to recreate the picture. would be neat to see how folks focus on different details, and kinda get to experience looking through each other's eyes.
alternatively, find a way to set up an eye tracking paintbrush so that maybe it erases areas that are focused on for too long in order to force artists to draw using their peripheral vision. idk, i jsut think eye tracking is neat and i think it's relatively easy to use and novel enough to have fun with.
So happy I never have to listen to Orphan's screams ever EVER again.
LET'S FREAKING GOOOOOOO
I cannot tell you how surprised I am that Julia's big roadblock was Orphan of Kos. I've never cheered on a soulsborne player before xD
I'm going to make "life's so beatable" my daily mantra.
Acknowledging that “he’s so beatible” fills you with *DETERMINATION* !
If you've got a way that doesn't involve memorizing each combo string, then... you've gotta tell me your methods, cause I don't know what that method is."
Jacob, what are you talking about? You KNOW the method... it's just 'dodge and hit'! It's that simple! (Joke) You're gonna get him tho!
Fell asleep listening to the screams, watching the vod while sick
I played You Waken In A Strange Place for the first time with my fam! We were a talking squirrel and garden gnome commune, but twist! The owner of the garden as taken up falconry! It was fun.
Jacob and Julia’s skin look so good I’m jealous
This was oddly inspiring. As someone who struggles with self-confidence and success, this definitely made me think lol
He was so beatable! Julia was downloading him the whole time, she just had to put it all together in that last one
The insane amount of joy I felt when she beat him. Incredible. What a high.
orphan of kos, or some say, orphan of kosn’t
