    As a girl who loves to wear her crocheted tops but never could because her breasts were too big to fit in any of the pattern tutorials on youtube (I'm terrible at altering patterns, I never fail to mess'em up somehow), this video is a godsend. Thank you!

    Always nice to learn something new. Great job and teaching. When in doubt about the size of cup. Measure from bottom of breast to the nipple. This will give you the inches for your beginning chain. Thanks for sharing

      It doesn't work though because my nips are looow because I have big books and they sag 😂 I am doing this right now and when she said to do 15 chains in the beginning I did 17 by chance. I have both cups finished, now it's onto the rest! I hope it fits well

      @@melissajenkins9960 nope. Idk if felt weird. It was too big but didn't hold well. maybe i used the wrong kind of wool

      Did you stretch your fabric and measure the inches that way? If you dont it could turn out too big.

    • @cristina9202
      @cristina9202 4 роки тому +1

      @@Anna-vl2ni, yes i stretched it. I really think the fabric was wrong bc the cups seemed massive but still fit idk how to explain it, it was so weird. But it was one of my first pieces, I'll try again with a different fabric

    I just made this bralette and it is so cute! I couldn't be happier with it. Thank you so much for the tutorial and clear instructions! This only took a few hours to make. I also appreciated how you demonstrated the pattern, but also informed where we could change things up and be creative. For the band, I ended up doing a few rounds of 2 sc rows followed by 1 dc row and it's adorable. Thanks so much!

    A good rule of thumb for making the cups is to start with a chain that goes approximately halfway up your breast, to the fullest point. The top of your first chain is going to wind up being the center of the cup ☺

      what if we have bigger breasts that kind of sag down? should we hold them up and measure that way? or measure just how they sit? sorry im just curious!!!

    • @victoriakathleen01
      @victoriakathleen01 3 роки тому +2

      @@jamieh8836 that's what I did! If you have a bra or bathing suit that fits well, you could use that as a tool to help measure. Otherwise, you can hold your breast up with your hand so it's in the same position as it might be in a bra :)

    Edit: I'm working on it now and this is fantastic! This is way easier than a lot of the other videos on crochet cups and I realized I've been single crocheting wrong until now! This is super beginner friendly (I can barely make a straight line) and I used a safety pin as a stitch marker.

    I always have a hard time making D cups too because I’m not one either. I usually do half double crochets to make the bralette and tend to underestimate how many stitches I need. I’m making a bralette for someone who is a 32d and made about 11 rows of hdc and I’m like is this enough 😅 but I truly appreciate your tutorial and will try this pattern out for the next bralette I make have another size D client, so thank you 😊

      D cups are so hard to make when you’re not actually a d cup. When I was making it for my sister in law I had no idea when to stop. It got so big I thought it couldn’t be right. I literally put it up to my face and said how the heck can this be as big as my face 😹😹😹 turns out it actually fit her! I couldn’t believe it lol

      Jacqueline's Life omg up to your face 😂😂 but at least it actually fit so that’s great! I’m always unsure like omg this doesn’t look like it’ll fit and get discouraged until they actually get the item and try it on and they say it fits. I’ve been looking everywhere for charts about crochet cup sizes and finally found one that seems good enough for me to use.

    Great tutorial! Thanks! I'm having trouble with mine curling in on itself. What am doing wrong?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! 👋 so there could be a couple reasons for that. Most times curling happens because the original chain was too short. Some people have commented saying to get the perfect fit you should chain the length from your under boob to the nipple. I haven’t tried that myself but people have updated me saying it worked out. Another reason could be the yarn you are using. I think this top works better with thicker yarn so anything with the weight of 4 or 5. If those arent the reason it could be because you are crocheting too tight(this happens to me sometimes). If you do crochet tight I suggest a bigger hook like a 5.5

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  5 років тому

      Hi! My advice would be to make sure when you chain one at the edge you need to crochet into the second and not the first stitch. Also I personally like to stretch my work to make sure it’s also straight

    Hello I have a question? I've tried two times and each time I try to do this, the part where I have to stitch in three chains keeps bulging out instead of being flat. I was wondering if you had any tips to stop this from happening? 😅

    Love this video I’m making mine right now and the bottom of my cup is curving is that normal or should I restart?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 роки тому

      It depends on how many more rows you need left. My cup curves but usually not enough for it to be a big deal. If you feel like it’s curving to the point where you think you’d have an issue later on you may want to restart! In my experience I find that mines curves because my chain wasn’t long enough. Another tip I think might work out is if you chain 2 instead of one at the bottom. I hope those tips help!

    Which yarn/s do you recommend to make the swim wears please?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 роки тому

      I prefer the Caron’s one pound (acrylic) yarn because that’s my favorite yarn to use for any project. If you like cotton yarn I would suggest the sugar and cream brand because I have made some bras with that and I do like it as well.

    This tutorial is awesome I noticed you're getting some squeaking in the crochet hook there's a funny but helpful tip if you have the squeaking and your hair is not tied up where you pull it out go ahead and run your crochet hook over the scalp. Yes, this works even if you just washed your hair! If you don't want to run it through your skull try on the sides of the nose! Weird but eh, I embrace my wierdness

    For the DD cup how many chains did you start with if you remember? Im a little bigger than DD cup and it would be great to have a starting point thanks

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  6 років тому +2

      Hi Cynthia, i apologize for my late response. for the DD cup i usually start off with a chain of 15. However, i got a comment from Bridget and she gave me this advice "When in doubt about the size of cup. Measure from bottom of breast to the nipple. This will give you the inches for your beginning chain." I hope that helps if you havent crochet the bra already!

    how do you connect the two cups? like i watched the video but for the second up i made, how do i cut the strings and stuff.

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 роки тому +1

      You connect the cup with a slip stitch then cut the yarn but leave enough yarn so you can weave the ends. Then you have to weave (insert the hook through a stitch grab some yarn but don’t pull all the way through. Once you have a loop take the other end of the yarn and pull it through) the ends into the bottom of the cup to make it secure.

    How exactly do you add chains to the cups?

  • @shortyt6746
    @shortyt6746 26 днів тому

    Thank you for this!! can suggestion tho? The at the first chain 1, where you said to skip the first stitch, maybe say "skip the chain 1" Mine started turning out weird because i was skipping the actual stitch. Also, please don't say that you dislike doing the bigger ones cuz they take a while. It's kind of a turn off. Anyhoo, I'm working on this piece now, thanks for the video!!
