Tom Wiscombe : Objects Models Worlds (October 23, 2019)

After an introduction by Hernan Diaz Alonso, Tom Wiscombe argues for a flat ontology, taking one thing at a time rather than stressing relations, noting his practice of collecting things, and organizing by ecologies not categories.
Wiscombe discusses recent projects in terms of five themes:

•“Models” e.g. Sunset Spectacular, West Hollywood (2016)
•Landing” e.g. National Center for Contemporary Arts, Moscow (2013); Blockchains City, with Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects (2018); Vilnius National Concert Hall (2019)
•“Tectonic fictions” e.g. Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum translated into a toy by Joe Ledbetter
