Stacyc 12eDRIVE vs Hiboy BK1 vs Todimart Electric Balance Bike Review. Is Stacyc Worth the Money?

  • In this review we tried out the Stacyc 12eDrive, the Hiboy BK1 and the Todimart electric strider bike both on and off road. I purchased these bikes with my own money, and I am not sponsored by any of these companies. This is my honest opinion after having my son try out all three in different conditions.

    Thank you so much for the video. I bought a Hiboy for my son with Amazon credit card points and I can say that it’s a nice, cheap bike. Still looking for a Stacyc but we also have a razor mx125. For the price of a Stacyc, we might just try to go from the hiboy to the mx125 unless we can find a decent deal on a Stacyc. From one father to another, I appreciate your time to make this video.

      Thanks man! My son is riding the 16e now. He rides it every day. Sometimes we'll go for 12+ miles in one ride. They hold up really well and there's lots of parts available. Sometimes you can find cheap ones on ebay that need a little repair. There's good deals to be found on facebook marketplace too. I picked mine up cheap enough that I can probably sell them in a few years and get most of my money back.

    Honestly, for what they are, the Razor bikes are pretty awesome. You can get a Razor MX125 for a couple hundred bucks and the batteries are really easy to swap out for Lithium. The throttle is also only an on/off throttle, but they sell aftermarket variable throttles/controllers as well. Your boy looks like he's almost tall enough for an MX350, though, so I'd go straight to that. The modification community is also pretty big for Razors, so there is no shortage of mods and project ideas out there.

      I found a Stacyc 16" for him this winter for really cheap on ebay. I think that will fit him for the rest of this year, maybe next too. I might get him a pedal bike next. I haven't seen a Razor in person, or talked to anyone else that has one. I've gone for 10+ mile rides before and needed to swap batteries in the Stacyc. How far do the razors go, and can you easily swap batteries on the trail? Are they well made? Do you think they will hold their value, or just a throwaway once the kids are done with them?

    • @nxdboi
      @nxdboi Рік тому +1

      @@irionmotorsports They hold their value okay, but they are very cheap, so it's not too big a problem to sell them at s loss or just keep them around. There is no quick swap battery capability on the Razors either, but they come standard with a set of 7ah 12v batteries wires in series to make a 7ah 24v system. They will last longer than a standard Stacyc bike. About an hour of throttle time, give or take.
      The battery is the weak point IMO though. They are heavy lead acid batteries. Luckily, though, they are very easy to upgrade. If you want to keep stock power, 24v lithium batteries are quite cheap and much lighter than the stock. MUCH higher capacity too. As for the build, they are ROCK SOLID. The MX125 (10mph bike) and the MX350 (14phm bike) are entirely rigid, but your boy should be used to that, riding a Stacyc. Another big problem with the Razors is the ON/OFF throttle; meaning that the throttle is either all on, or all off. It does nothing for teaching a child throttle discipline. If you're going to change one thing immediately after taking it out of the box, it would be this. They sell after market variable throttle kits on ebay.
      Again, they will be much heavier than the Stacyc and will likely require some modification, but if you don't mind tinkering (or prefer it like I do lol) the Razors are great toys to have around. The time and money they take to upgrade (take it as far or as cheap as you want), is well worth the fun they have brought us imo.
      And that's all before we even get into the MX500/650. That's Razors bigger model that comes with (cheap) suspension. Look those up on UA-cam if you want to get into a very deep and expensive upgrading rabbit hole lol. Not to mention the MotoTec or Ebox bikes. But those are whole separate thing entirely.

    Hey are these the same batteries as dewalt power tools?

    • @irionmotorsports
      @irionmotorsports  Рік тому +1

      No, you can buy an aftermarket adapter, but the adapter cost around $100. The other problem is dewalt has the low voltage cutoff built into the tool. If you run dewalt batteries with the adapter, you can run the voltage too low and ruin the battery. You could buy a low voltage cutoff off of amazon and wire it into the adpater. I just decided it made more sense to use stacyc's batteries.

      @@irionmotorsports yeah all that work and money might as well buy the stacyc batteries. I'm gonna get my son one. He has a pw50 but he's really timid on it so I thing this will be a great stepping stone

    • @irionmotorsports
      @irionmotorsports  Рік тому +1

      You’re going to want to get the 16. My kids almost 5 now and he’s riding a 16 because the 12 was getting too small. He’s pretty big for his age, but a 12 is definitely too small for a 6 year old.

      I thought about just getting a 50cc dirtbike, but the nice thing about the strider bikes is you can take them anywhere. We take them to campgrounds and playgrounds and ride them down the sidewalk. Nobody bothers us. You can put them in the backseat of a nice clean car without worrying about gas or oil. I throw them in anytime we travel.
