    Very helpful. I’m doing my first full in Mont Tremblant this year after 3 years of delay. Can’t wait. Did three 70.3 and at 55 years old it’s time to conquer the mountain. Your video helped take a huge stress away!

    very well prepared video!
    Could you ever record about - how you collect notes / prepare to record such (any) material?
    I have the impression that there is nothing that you cannot explain in your videos :P

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  3 роки тому +1

      I touched on it in my recent AMA. Typically I start with a onenote file of what I want to explain. I build up a story of how the things build that make sense. Then i draft out a picture on my ipad using the pencil. Thats honestly about it. the onenote are key points by I keep it light so I can just enjoy the recording. Hope that helps

    I'd love to see a video on your triathlon training routine. What's the difference between a weekly routine for an Olympic distance triathlon vs. an Ironman triathlon?
    I saw a recommendation that you should train each triathlon leg for 10% more than what you'd do in your targeted triathlon. So, for an Olympic-distance triathlon, run 11k at least one day per week, bike 44k another day, swim 1.65k another, plus have one or two brick workouts in your weekly routine. I can't imagine that advice scaling up for an Ironman.
    Also, how do you compete for 17 hours without needing to use a restroom?

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  3 роки тому +1

      Honestly I don't follow any kind of structured routine and as I said at the start I'm not qualified to give guidance on how to train :-) I do a lot of weight training which many would not do. I would check out some of the pros and coaches for their recommendations. And you do use a restroom :-)

    • @hawaiijim

      @@NTFAQGuy Today I watched your video about your weekly routine. Seeing how many hours you exercise per day and per week went a long way toward answering my question.
      Thank you for your Azure videos. They are very helpful. With Azure gaining market share, I'm planning to add some Azure certs to complement my AWS ones. The two cloud platforms seem very similar.

      @@hawaiijim awesome, glad it helped but if you are really wanting to jump to ironman distance I would really get input from people who know what they are doing and not follow me who makes it up as I go along :) best of luck

    Hey John, how long did it take you to prepare for your first Ironman?
    And how many (on average) hrs per week were you training?
    I’ve got my first in August, feeling excited but nervous!

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  2 роки тому +1

      My training is likely not normal. I still focus a lot on weight lifting. I train about 20 hours a week and I think 6 months before is pretty typical. Best of luck !

      As I mentioned I’m not a coach and really not qualified to guide on fitness plans etc. there are probably better people than I to help there. I just don’t want to give bad advice.

    My first Ironman in Maryland last year went pretty well. Only problem was I got nauseated shortly into the run. My brick training runs had always gone so well and I took enough sodium during the bike. What could be the cause (heat?) And what can I do to prevent this happening again?

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  2 роки тому

      It sounds like heat but it may be worth posting to the triathlon reddit forums for more thoughts from those smarter than me :) During an event you generally are more stressed, body behaves differently so could be nutrition was off. Make sure are hydrating enough but not TOO much as this can cause nausea. Aim to need to pee twice during bike for example!

    • @NTFAQGuy
      @NTFAQGuy  2 роки тому

      You know I tend to go more by how I feel on the day for my fitness training. I have a plan of increasing duration etc but trust my body a lot more in how it feels on any particular day.
