I believe that every follower of Jesus should dedicate at least a small portion of their week to Bible memory. And to prove that you can do more than you realize, I've made it a goal to memorize the entire New Testament before I turn 40. You are very inspiring. Thank you so much. I just finished the book of Colossians. Working on Romans, Chapter 3 now. Love it so much. God talks to me all day. Keep it up, never stop. I have combined just about all the techniques I have learned. Watching this is amazing.
Great! I’m so happy to know this has been helpful.
Praise God. I’m from India
Welcome 🙏
Love the beautiful attitude you have for the Word of God! God bless you Josh!
'The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.' Proverbs 10:7
The NIV does not read the same so you miss out on this blessing, that is why I love the KJV!
Lots of meat, spiritual meat!
Thank you and blessings to you as well!
You have inspired me to start memorizing large sections of scripture! I’m starting with Isaiah 52:13 - 53… because I have been half-way working on it…. You & those you have interviewed on your channel have given me the encouragement to get more serious about it. Jude is next & I had already selected it… this video popped up & sealed the deal! Thanks & God Bless!🙏🏼
That’s awesome. Go for it!
I love that you keep your notes all together in one notebook, that is easy to carry around. I think I will grab that idea :)
Thanks, Aunt Amy 😉
Me too
This was great!!! Shows exactly how to use the memory palace!!! Thank you!!!
I’m so glad to hear that!
This is wonderful and SO helpful. Thank you for helping us memorize God’s Word !
You’re welcome, Jennifer!
Most helpful is your example of what you are using for different words. And the ones people watching have give you too.
I know, right! That was an unexpected benefit of doing this live was getting the collective creativity of the group to help come up with good images.
For same I see the Talking Heads singing same as it ever was. from the song Once in a lifetime.
Ha! That's a great one.
This is fascinating to watch, Josh. I am really enjoying seeing your process and learning from it. The inside of my head is pretty crazy too, so don't feel bad about yours! I'm sure other people are the same. I suffer from acute M.E. and have spent many years very unwell and very much inside my head, because I was so unwell and debilitated I couldn't do anything. It made me very aware of how my thoughts and memory work. To occupy my mind and distract myself from my illness I would play little games inside my head - for example, how many animals can I think of that begin with "g" and I'd make a mental list. I'd try to keep a count as I went. I'd then try the same thing a day later and see if I could get more. I gave myself other challenges too, and it amazed me to see what even a very unwell and fatigued brain could do. Without me deliberately meaning to, my mind created pictures and associations to remember things: cues, patterns, etc. My condition is improving and I am able to do more now. And having become a little bit more familiar with this inside of my head and what it can do, I am intrigued to try learning things off by heart. I am learning some Scots poetry (I'm from Scotland) as well as trying to learn Psalm 1, which I really love. Thanks for all your advice and sharing your process with us, it's really interesting. Best wishes and love from Claire in Scotland.
Thank you for sharing your story, Claire! It’s crazy how God has designed our brains and I love how you persevered through such a difficult trial. Press on!
@@BibleMemoryGoal Thanks Josh! 💗
Thank you! I've been (slowly) working through memorizing the book of John. Got stuck, so changed to some key verses and psalms for a while. You've just inspired me to memorize the book of Jude. Then I'll go back to John.
Awesome! Hopefully it won’t take you too long! 👌
How is your memorization going now?
Love the Bible Memory App - I use it and it has been a great tool for me.
I agree - it's a wonderful tool!
Thank you for taking your time with this and showing your process. This methodical approach, shown step by step, is so valuable. May the Lord God bless you in your endeavors!
Glad it was helpful!

Yes, almost a year later, I'm watching while I do my own scripture review and memory work. Thank you for your encouragement and sharing from your life like this. Bless you! I also did review Jude some and it is a good review. Also, it is helpful to see you see and what you do for a whole book.
You are so welcome! I'm glad it was encouraging to you, Roy.
Memorized various verses. Very blessed because of this.
So glad to hear it, Steve-o!
Thanks from Texas
Thanks for watching!
Your set up is amazing in your office with all the different video angles. You did great managing it all!
Ha! I'm still learning to navigate a live video, but it was enjoyable :)
@@BibleMemoryGoal you’re amazing! I do pretty good managing a live video on Zoom or FB live with one camera and comments but you’re a pro. 👏🏻
THis helps a lot. THank you. Ive been trying to do this on my own and sometimes you get stuck
Glad I could help!
God bless you
And you as well 👍🏻
Thanks!
👍🏻👍🏻
Hi from Jacksonville florida
Hey there, Joanne! Thanks for the comment!
do this with more often please 😊😊
I’ll try! 😎
Thank you! Blessings from South Africa.
🙏🙏
Great job! I didn’t listen to everything in the middle but it was helpful seeing your process. I’m sure it’s already changed some in the last 8 months.
So true. Definitely a few minor things that have changed, but thankfully not drastic. I can still walk my way through that little office in my mind and recite the book of Jude :)
@@BibleMemoryGoal that’s great! And truly the goal, right?
Wow, thank you for working so hard on this right in front of us. I will be watching the whole thing and memorizing with you very soon!
Great! 👍🏻
This really helped me. I use a similar method. I thought I was crazy. Thank you for sharing
Glad it helped!
Thanks!!!
My pleasure, Anne!
I really appreciate this it’s so informative I love this process
Memory palaces overwhelm me but I’m
Thinking if I get used to them and use more often it will get better oh and you so should have more views folk don’t know what they’re missing
Ha! I appreciate it. I'm not tracking the views too much...if it's helpful even to a few people, that's good enough for me :)
Love this idea.
Glad to hear it!
Thank you, this helps get a better idea of what is involved.
Great! Glad to hear it, Benjamin.
I'm from Michigan but I'm coming to Thailand in one week.
Excellent! Enjoy your time.
Great video! I use a lot of these same techniques.
Awesome! So glad to hear it, Noel.
Philippines
Glad to have you join, Keith!
I'm memorising Jude at the moment NKJV. Its my first book it's hard. I'm about to start verse 8
Keep at it Jennifer 👏
I love this! Thank you. I have a question about when you're writing in the journal. When you have drawn in the boxes on the page, what would you do if you fill in a box and you still have letters to write? Would you start over on a new page?
Ha! I’ll just bleed into the next box if I have to, but hopefully I’ll plan ahead enough to know if a verse will be longer and I’ll just write smaller.
Where did you get that big book on the Bible project ? All I have seen are just their videos online. Didn’t know they had books
We bought it off their website. Global shipping options available!
I saw PI HQ as a memory palace. If that HQ is in FL we should talk :)
Ha 😉 Shoot me a message somehow.
Hello un kenya
👋👋
Pks, write down for me here the step to step process you use for memorising June. I want to do same in 1 hour, pls.
Want to do the same what in one hour? You can see the process in real time here and you can see that it takes time.
Recovering from foot surgery and accidentally found you. I had been considering starting this journey of memorizing scripture so finding you was a God-thing. I have a question though.. Why five blocks across. From MI and very sad about last night's football game.
It's just something that has become common in the memory world. Five isn't too many that you can't know where they're located.
among is a certain tribal / hill tribe person in Northern Thailand 😊
Nice! That’s a good one.
I really struggle with memorising the scripture
Specially to remember it for years..
For memorising scripture what all is do we need like stuff?
A journal to write the verses? I really feel burdened by doing that but even if I have other ways I just show no interest in memorising the scripture
It’s a common struggle, so don’t be too discouraged. If I were you, I would do two things: first, set yourself a very small goal, like just working on memorizing or reviewing for 5 minutes a day, that’s all. Second, I would try to find someone to do it with so you can have a partner in this.
@@BibleMemoryGoal okay sir thank you!
I am sure these tips will help me
God be with you
i wanba memorize the book of romans one day. its soo good
You should!
Hey Josh, Do you use an APP for recording the book when you Read it to yourself? - "And" Amy 🤣
I’ve tried using different apps, but the voice recorder app that comes with every phone seems to work best for me.
Hi
👋
Do you write the memory ques down for the memory palace?
What do you mean by "memory ques"? I sometimes write down the locations for each location of the memory palace, but honestly, if I've created the palace well, I don't need to do that.
@@BibleMemoryGoal I guess clues would be a better word. Thank you that is good to know.
Josh m, are the Quotes found in verse 14 and 15 from the book of Enoch?? 😮
Yes, I believe so.
Friends? How about fiends with a big R?
👍🏻
I love this but the problem I am having is you are not using the kjv and that makes it difficult for us who use kjv
Sorry! I can’t do a new video for every version of the Bible 🤷♂️
totally beginner here but where would you recommend starting? what book to memorized? also instead of workbook, is there other device to use like google sheets, docs, my hand sweats when I write .

Which church are you a member of please?
We have a house church here in Thailand.
@@BibleMemoryGoal alright great 👍
When you are memorizing books with more than one chapter, do you split your recordings up into chapters or have the whole book on one recording?
I usually split it up into chapters unless it’s a particularly short book.
What is a memory palace? Did I miss something.
You might find this a helpful place to start: ua-cam.com/video/t2VH-d8OuSM/v-deo.html
I was wondering if I partially know a Scripture do I need to do the image making process for the verses I already know well?
Or do I just place the phrase or verse in the location whole?
One more question. How detailed do you get in keeping a record of your image stories? Or do you just have the opening image.
Great question, David (and thanks for supporting as a member!). For me, if I know a verse well, I tend to simply put an image that will remind me of the first word or two, just to help me get started with the verse. Or you could put an image to remind you of the overall meaning. But I don’t see a need to make it too complicated.
The answer to your second question depends on how my review goes. If I find myself forgetting words or verses, I’ll have to get more detailed. If I don’t, I won’t.
Really grateful for your answer. It is very helpful.
I don't understand the memory palace technique, it just doesn't make sense to me and seems like you're trying to use a wrench to hammer a nail. It seems way harder than the technique I used to memorize over 10 books consisting over 6500 verses.
That’s interesting. I know that the memory palace technique has been around for more than a thousand years and is still used by every single memory champion that competes today. But perhaps they need to learn your technique instead?
@@BibleMemoryGoal I'm not here to argue, I just don't understand it. Do you go around trying to memorize an entire deck of cards in a 2 minutes? It's very different from memorizing large amounts of text verbatim.
The mind palace concept isn't even possible for many people like those with short-term memory deficits. ADHD as an example is primarily a deficit in short-term memory as a result of decreased activity in the prefrontal cortex which is why stimulants help them. The ability to visualize things in your mind is highly dependent on short-term memory. That's why they struggle with mental math as one example.
I think a more relevant place to look is in bible quizzing. I have been involved in bible quizzing ministry for over 25 years now and seen literally hundreds of teens memorize these books: 1 & 2 Corinthians, John, Hebrews., 1 & 2 Peter, Matthew, Romans, James, Acts, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon, and Luke.
I have never once heard anyone ever even mention memory palace in quizzing. I'm sure some might have used it, but I've never about it being used. I'm just saying I don't understand this method. That's great if it works for you and I love what your channel is about though.
@@BibleMemoryGoal here's another way to look at it. This is quote from Steve McConnell, an expert in software engineering, "Building a 4-foot tower requires a steady hand, a flat surface, and 10 undamaged beer cans. Building a tower 100 times that size doesn't merely require 100 times as many beer cans. It requires a different kind of planning and construction altogether."
Apply that to 52 cards in a deck vs 24229 words in the book of acts. That's just a list of words in a very specific order. I'm just saying, seems like it might require a completely different technique if you're going to apply it so something 465x larger.
I would even quote from the book, "Your Memory: How it works and how to improve it", the author states, "Verbatim Memory
Some memory tasks may require word-for-word memorizing (for example, learning scriptures, poems, scripts, etc.). Mnemonic systems are not especially appropriate for such verbatim memory tasks. When people ask me how to memorize these kinds of materials verbatim, I refer them to the memorizing strategies discussed in chapter 6. We will see in subsequent chapters that mnemonic systems can help in remembering the main points or ideas covered in such materials and in getting these points in the right order, thus providing a framework within which the exact words can then be learned. But the systems do not help much directly in the word-for-word memory part of the task."
Have you seen how I've used the memory palace technique? I use the palace to organize chapters and verses so that I can find them easily, and then I use various mnemonic techniques to "encode" the verse to each of those locations.
So sure, a memory palace may not be great for word-for-word, but it can be used in conjunction with other techniques to achieve what I am personally wanting to do: memorizing word-for-word with a recall of exact chapter and verse locations within each book that I memorize.
I think its better to remember less of Scripture when you store it in your heart than to create false meanings with memory palaces, etc.
I enjoy being able to have the Scripture ready to meditate on whenever I need it. I encourage you to think less about what is "better," and focus more on what works to keep you studying and memorizing God's Word.
