I’m going to wait until the end of the year before I buy any more Paramount Presents. They cut almost all of their stock in half in December. Since the slips are always included and they’re not in limited quantities why not?
Out of curiosity I checked Amazon Canada for the Paramount presents line and they are averaging $40 CDN, Another 48 Hours was going for $63 - be cheaper to get the 4K for me.
I did not get that impression of Red Eye at all that you did Ken when it was coming out. I remember Red Eye's trailer very well because it was great. The trailer started off making it seem like a romantic comedy and then in the middle of it, it turns into a hostage thriller.
Ken, I picked of some the titles during Amazon’s $12.99 sale and I received “Pretty in Pink” without the slipcover. The others I purchased had them, but my presumption there are some out for whatever reason do not have them. There’s too much inconsistencies with their releases.
I didn't even realize I had a Paramount presents movie. I bought Breakdown since I love that movie, and thought it was a cool case but didn't know it was part of a special series. I'll be picking up Red Eye when it comes out.
so excited for red eye in 4k next month! I really do like the packaging effort for the paramount presents line & appreciate the new special features included with red eye. So hopefully this means paramount will continue to add more features to this presents line. Fingers crossed it's a good 4k remaster, also it's at $34 right now on amazon. I hope you review it when it comes out & like the film more now that you're aware of what it leans more towards. Thanks for all this info!

I can't agree with you more. You know looking at some Blu-ray places now the menu came out. It's at Walmart for $23 for a Blu-ray. It's just getting a little ridiculous. Those are 4K prices.. Paramount needs to give us choices and that's that. Great video

I remember when Paramount licensed its movies to Warner Bros., Olive Films, Shout/Secream Factory, Criterion and Kino. I know Kino is releasing Marathon Man on 4K which is a Paranount title.
Almost Famous 4k steelbook came out at the same time as the Paramount Presents blu-ray. Then a few months later they came out with the standard 4k release. The pricing on both formats of the Paramount Presents line definitely needs to be lowered at the pre-order stage and also include a sale or two a year.
i can't wait to buy Red Eye on 4k and i love that movie too and i can finally upgrade to the 4k version now since i have the old classic DVD version of the film and i was 10 years old when that movie came out and its almost been 20 years since that movie came out and time sure does flies in the movie world that for sure and i was in 5th grade too when Red Eye came out good old classic days for me and i'm happy that its getting a 4k upgrade it sure needs one since its a good thriller and i hope the price tag drops down soon since $39 that expensive for a older movie and i do like thow you can flip the slipcover thats something i never seen before in Paramount formats and Wes Craven RIP one of my favorite movies of all time
the 1997-2009 DreamWorks Pictures library is owned by Paramount Global. Their 2011-2016 library is owned by The Walt Disney Company. and their 2017-Present output is owned by Universal Pictures.
Can anybody confirm if these paramount present lines are region free? Couldnt tell from looking at them online. I live in Australia but Amazon do deliver these here.
You say 40 is to much and there people that will pay 45 for titles from vinegar syndrome I don't and will not pay 40 or more fore any film title I don't care what it has on it no film is worth 40 or more and I am pretty sure red eye will drop down to 25 to 30 before it comes out on 4k

Red Eye I have never seen, but looks interesting. I will probably get but certainly not at $39.99. The rest of Paramount new releases for me are 4K or nothing. Paramount shenanigans has ruined me as a customer of theirs.
Am I wrong or do Paramount 4ks not have the save feature so you can return to where you left off in the movie? I put movies I've already seen on often while I'm doing other things and might not have time to finish it. So I come back to it the next day, and most give me a prompt to continue where I left off. But Not with Event Horizon, or The Godfather which I discovered with both Paramount movies. Both movies I had to wait through the studio intro and track down the scene I was last on.
Hey Ken, when will you tell us what type of media shelving units you have, and where you purchased them? I asked this question a while back but I never heard anything about it yet.
The larger ones are Atlantic elite. The only thing about them is they have fixed shelves and one of them is meant for CD's. That's why you see some of his blu's lying down in the middle. I believe the smaller ones are from the Atlantic Oskar line.
So excited for Red Eye, still holding onto my DVD copy. Can't believe it never got a blu-ray. Favorite paramount presents that's out now is Breakdown, but I know they will now be doing a 4k soon :/

I ordered two more during the after Christmas Amazon sale at $12.99 ('Ordinary People' and 'Pretty in Pink') that I'm waiting to be mailed up here to the Great Wet North (Canada), where the Paramount Presents line starts at $40 Cnd and up. I will be curious to see if either of them arrive with a slipcover. I also know of others who have purchased movies from this line that also came without slipcovers. Unfortunately, the assurances you made about every title coming with a foldout slipcover were incorrect.
Dreamworks live action films were often produced in conjunction with Paramount. Deep Impact is another example. Paramount has the rights to all the live action DW titles distribution wise while DW Animation went to Universal from Fox when Disney bought that studio.
Hey Paramount, if you're reading these comments, we need John Hughes 80s classics, Pretty In Pink and Ferris Beuller's Day Off, on 4K Blu-Ray. I know you already have a 4K scan for Pretty In Pink, but your current HD scan of Ferris Beuller's Day Off is god awful and it's one of the best comedies of all time.

I'm sorry but the flip up OG poster is cute, but you're not Criterion, especially if you're going to have a release with no special features. If prices came down I'd consider it.

Pricing blus more than or close to that of 4ks is unethical; releasing the 4k the same day as the blu is ethical way so each collector has the choice right off the bat, or pairing them together of course. It would be cool if they released Flashback (1990).
I've been getting Paramount Presents since they first came out and given I'm importing them to Australia they are certainly quite expensive for what they are. I'll stick with them for now but I agree the price point needs to be looked at given the lack of what you'd expect from the usual boutique labels like commentaries and booklets. Kino usually has limited stfff .... though generally at least a good commentary.... but they also don't cost very much so it's good value for money. Having a cardboard sleeve that opens and a film maker focus is nice but it's hard to consider this "boutique" ... I guess they are more a premium (barely) studio back catalogue range. They don't have the extra effort put into them like an Arrow would do to take them to the next level and I can't really see them doing that... It would be a huge investment for a major studio. Which is fine, I could live with it as long as the price drops to match what is being offered. At the end of the day as long as I get a decent bunch of classic films with nice transfers that's the main thing. I do agree on the format issue though. I don't get why you'd put out Blu rays in your "premium" range and then a 4k outside of the range (as in Days of Thunder and Almost Famous). Doesn't make any sense. It does feel like a bit of a face slap. I bought the Paramount Presents Days of Thunder and Almost Famous on blu ray (yea those damn numbered spines) but it annoys me that there are better editions out there in 4k but now that I have the Blu rays I refuse to double up. Maybe if they are one day on sale for dirt cheap I'll grab them and put the 4k disc in the Paramount Presents packaging.... we'll see. Anyway great video. You don't hear Paramount Presents talked about too much on the usual boutique UA-cam channels. I think Jeff from Films At Home has talked about them here and there but I don't remember too many others talking about them.
Paramount owned DreamWorks Pictures (not including DreamWorks Animation) for only a few months. The rights to pre-2006 Dreamworks Pictures films (with the exception of some co-produced with ther studios) are still with Paramount. The Haunting and Almost Famous were both also originally released by Dreamworks, so Red Eye is nothing new for the Paramount Presents line.
New Orleans definitely had the stand out parts, but I thought it was a pretty strong transfer overall. I would have preferred them not removing almost all of the grain, but that was the choice.
Dreamworks is independent. Much of its live-action catalog up to 2008 or so belongs to Paramount, but for the last 10-12 years, their new movies have been handled by Disney and then Universal.
I I'm not a fan Of the Paramount presentstwine only because they do not give you the option to put the original artwork on the give you the original artwork on the flip Cover but I would rather have it on The actual face of the case. I'm real particular about not having the original popcorn art on any of these releases

Ken during that last Amazon sale I got pretty in pink paramount presents with NO Slipcover so I sent it back.
I'm picking & choosing through this line of Paramount Presents. I'll wait & see if Golden Child comes in 4k. If not, blu-ray it is.

RED EYE 4K is $33.97 on Bull Moose website. Still hope it drops below $30 though.

In Canada, some of them are released without the slipe cover and without the mention ''Paramount Presents'' (with the same transfer)...

Hi Ken, I think Universal only owns Dreamworks Animated Studio only. Paramount owns Dreamwork Studios releases.

Nah dreamworks has been a paramount company for a while now. All the transformers films are dreamworks but distributed by paramount. same thing here
