      And I just realized the genius in this: I think it's the theme of Hernán Cortés in BOTH movies. In PotC Barbossa mentions the aztec gold is cursed because of Cortés' greed! This blew my mind, I've not seen anyone else point this out yet.

    This is possible my favorite dreamworks movie out there thus far.
    I love the old classics- so amazing, and the characters in this movie as well as the voice acting and hilarious punts saved this movie story line more then anything. I love the music too. Though I'm not sure if Hans produced this one. I think he did more "Its Tough To Be A God" from the El Dorado soundtrack

  • @INDEXmusic

  • @ZilkenianDavenport
    @ZilkenianDavenport 10 років тому +58

    First of all, this came BEFORE Pirates of Caribbean, so PoC sounds like this.
    Then, I've heard both of them, and the only thing they sound alike is they use similar instruments, and I have a quite good ear for music and melodies, so stop making comparisons like that between two amazing scores.

    • @Schlumpiiii
      @Schlumpiiii 10 років тому +10

      Obviously you don't have a good ear for Music and melodies (just saying). This song is from Hans Zimmer and the Soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean is also from him (surprising) . So you can hear the beginning of this song in some songs from pirates of the caribbean, BECAUSE Hans Zimmer composed both. If you would have a good ear for Music and melodies you would definitely hear it.

    • @ZilkenianDavenport
      @ZilkenianDavenport 10 років тому +2

      ZilkenianDagger I like Hans Zimmer bro, but nobody can refute that the first 25 seconds of this track uses the exact same melody than PotC 1. These are the EXACT SAME notes excepted one at the end.

    • @ZilkenianDavenport
      @ZilkenianDavenport 9 років тому +2

      ND01 Yeah, but Pirates of Caribbean came after this. What annoys me is that they says "this sounds like Pirates of Caribbean", when is the other way. I love both tracks to no end, trust me on that.

      Self-plagiarism, often termed autoplagiarism, is actually possible, particularly for academic work e.g. at university if you submit the same paper, or parts of the same paper, for different assignments.
      I rather like the term 're-imagining', however :-P

    And another thing. Whenever powerful music comes out today or even music that has been slightly aged, like take the soundtrack for Conan the Barbarian, by composer Basil Poledouris, I don't see him getting as praised as Bethoven, Bach or Mozart for his brilliance. He may not have invented a genre, he may not be as technically skilled as Mozart, that doesn't change the fact that I find his music more beautiful than theirs, just by listening to it. That's all that I do, I listen.

      Christina Black Which isn't a coincidence seeing as Hans Zimmer worked on this music, but it's certainly a coincidence that the villain in this film is Cortez who would end up finding said chest!

      +mAcroFaze Well, actually he wasn't a villain in the movie. Just an anti-hero :)

    Where on earth can this be bought? It seems it's only possible to get the cheesy Elton John stuff.
