Great reaction again, guys! This video of Amira singing Nella Fantasia is the most viewed video of this song by a soprano on UA-cam. In Amira's concerts, she usually wears 3 magnificent dresses, which were made especially for her, with each dress using about 82 feet of excellent fabric. She always receives Queen treatment from the countries, the production, the musicians, the audience and the press. Amira is a soprano, which is the class of female singer with the highest voice, the greatest range and the best vocal ability. And Amira is by far the most popular soprano of all time, with over a billion views on UA-cam, two diamond records, two platinum records and two gold records to date. On top of that, she donates half of all her net income to her charitable foundation to build playgrounds in public schools in South Africa, as well as other actions on behalf of children, teenagers, the elderly and veterans. And she's been doing this since she was 9 years old. At the age of 10 she received the Humanitarian of the Year award at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
A live concert with an orchestra is something else.. the atmosphere just doesn't translate to the screen..

As you said, this was in November 2016. She had sung this song in July 2016, at the first "Classics is Groot" ("Classics are great') concert. The "Afrikaans is Groot" concert featured 33 items of which Amira's performance was number 25, and was originally planned for nine performances - but when it became known that Amira would be performing, Coleske Artists had to schedule an extra two performances. Her parents had to bring a tutor with them from Holland so she could keep up with her schoolwork.
Many of her totally dedicated now for years fans were not listeners of this kind of music either before they discovered Amira ... 😊
Yes, she was 12 when she sung that. There are one or two versions of this one with subtitles added. The lyrics are beautiful, too.

You know how many reactors I have heard who have said the same thing after listening to Amira sing.... They wre never into opera before hearing Amira sing and afterward the response is pretty universal: "If this is what opera is like then count me in!"
She has arguably developed into arguably the finest lyric soprano in the world today....
I love your reactions to Amira. By the time she was 12 she was so much in demand that professional tenors and sopranos were asking her to sing with them. They knew Amira would be sensational, and they knew every performance with her would be sold out. When Amira was 7 they visited South Africa where her mother's family lived. She was shocked to see the children in schools there had nowhere to play. She said if she ever made any money she would build playgrounds for them. True to her word, she donates half the money she receives from all her appearances to creating school playgrounds for children in South Africa. (23 have been built so far)

She IS exceptional, giving opera a new sound and experience, indeed. It my not be so hard to attend one of her concerts, just have to be alert for when she makes it over to the US east and west coasts for her fan bases there, maybe this year or next.
If you like high notes, Amira reached an E6 in 2023 while singing in the Phantom of the Opera with Ruhan du Toit. Her maturity at age 19 enabled her to do this without doing damage.
