Music especially vocal ability is a genetic trait. You are born with the ability to sing well or to hear and reproduce musical sounds in a way the majority of humans can't.
So if you have one parent who is musically gifted then you have a fifty percent chance of also being musically gifted, if you come from a long line of musically gifted people then the chances of not being gifted are small.
Will you be as gifted as your parents? well, who knows a lot of that depends on the taste of the times you are born into.

Music is one of the cornerstones of civilization and culture. The academic ademic study of music enriches the mind and stretches one's capabilities in so many areas.. Umm how is it different from rap again, I mean other than white people and trucks? I mean Kid rock made the transition from rap pioneer to country singer pretty easily cause he didn't have to change his subject matter. Didn't Reba have a number one song that was about being turned out to prostitution by her mom's after her daddy ran off and the welfare department took her brothers and sisters, but she got so good at prostitution that she got rich, what was that song called, oh I remember Fancy and then there are all those songs about life in Folsom prison and making and selling illegal moonshine ( that would be a narcotic, so they were dealing) you know what, I just don't see a whole bunch of difference.
