    It ABSOLUTELY is worth it. I have had issues where I was running low on ammo and lead. I made a ton of arrows and traded them all in for the ammo I needed.
    Great video mate!

    Is it cost effective- Yes if you stock up enough: Railway spikes, cannon balls and 5mm ammo
    I wish they updated it so it can take all your ammo at once so you don’t have to spam it the same button

      Absolutely, been hoping for that since they "made the menu better" it is improved on the system when the converter arrived. But why not a "scrap all" option

    I only use it when I have enough ammo that I don’t need. I primarily use it to get flamer fuel.

    it's great other than the fact that you can't just sell all of a certain ammo to it at the same time.. but I still enjoy having it since I always loot everything from the enemies I kill!

    This thing was great to have before the contextual ammo changes. I'd just farm up the points to leave in the machine for when I was ready to top up, especially before a nuke boss.

    It's a pretty good way for ppl that don't suscribe to Fallout 1st to handle excess ammo ... Beats throwing it on the floor or in a donation box at least. What I like to do is to empty the ammo convetor points by making the ammo types iI have less of or i need more often when there's a free 1st trial or if I suscribe for a single month, then for the rest of the year I try to refill the points so that when there's a new trial I can repeat the process... Pretty good method as you keep all the actual ammo in your ammo box even when you're not suscribing , but you feed any eccess into the convetor.

    This item is more useful to those without FO 1st. Since they can't use the ammo storage, the convertor would be used so their storage wouldn't be jammed up with ammo they don't use.

  • @ClyFaker

    For me it's pretty useful for flamer fuel for my Holy Fire and 40mm grenades to feed my Nuka-Launcher during reflective events. Also, before the advent of the ammo box it was an easy way to "store" excess ammo with just a slight loss. In that respect it would still be nice for those without 1st.

  • @papasmurf9201

    I feel like it was worth it when it first came out, how ever with daily ops and events you can rack up ammo actually doing something.

  • @KingDarkOne1996

    It’s fun to have. However it’s not for new players. Better for players at least around 200 when you’re over loaded with ammo you don’t use and no one seems to buy from you.
    I would not spend my atoms or gold. Key word there is would. I already have it.

  • @MrWesleyDP
    @MrWesleyDP 7 місяців тому +1

    For outdoors reflective mutated events (Moonshine Jamboree, Line in the Sand, etc) I like to use a grenade launcher. The Ammo Converter makes enough 4omm grenades out of my junk ammo that I never make 40mm grenades anymore.

    I find it useful during the months I don't have a Fallout 1st sub. and need to get rid of all the ammo picked up during the week. I never need to create my own ammo and it keeps my weight down. This also meant I was able to get swap the legendary ammo perk for the one that allows you to unlock everything, which makes playing the game SO much more enjoyable - especially if you need to collect silver and gold.

  • @Jamosite

    Its good as a backup. Buy the "other" machine that makes ammo and store them until you got time to waste a some time converting it.. best ammo to convert is railway spikes. Cheaaap to build.

    in terms of farming it really depends where your C.A.M.P is set up. I have mine next to a lead deposit and acid deposit so I'm good with crafting ammo tbh

  • @FissionFury

    I found the ammo converter useful to a certain degree but the poor exchange rates kind of kills it. I certainly wouldn't rely on it. Found the ammo maker more worthwhile but lately with the improved and fairer contextual ammo drops it's utility has also diminished. Good point made with the fact that you're probably better off doing a farming run, it's quicker. Great video guide👍 keep up the good work.

  • @malcadorthesigillite2541
    @malcadorthesigillite2541 7 місяців тому +3

    It has a terrible conversion rate.
    However if you have a overabundance of ammo in your ammo box you might as well fill it up with max points 100k. Then you can produce any ammo you need in a pinch.
    Make it work for you.

  • @arocker216
    @arocker216 7 місяців тому

    As an explosive build user, it is great. I use grand finale broadsider regularly anyway and get 1000s of extra cannonballs and with this I can turn them into missiles that are very expensive to craft but pretty cheap to convert, or mini nukes or 40mm if I don’t feel like crafting those and don’t need missiles. Its UI needs an update tho it is a pain to use.

  • @aronjohnson2388
    @aronjohnson2388 7 місяців тому

    I would agree that using the ammo converter to "farm" ammo is inefficient. But I did use it to cash in banked points for a lot of flamer fuel for the burning love event. So I would argue it is good if you need a lot of exotic (read energy) ammo fast.

    Steel is the most abundant material in this game. Scrapping perk card is useful when scrapping buns ad items and then make spikes and exchange them for the ammo you need/use. Expeditions is another good way to farm your ammo, if you're in a team and others kill the enemy you get your contextual ammo from them too. Check loot, ammo and donation boxes boxes for contextual ammo. Loot boxes do give out ammo like in ammo boxes. And of course there is always player vendors selling ammo for 1 cap.

  • @Lordoftheapes79
    @Lordoftheapes79 7 місяців тому

    This isn't something I would farm, but I do it casually. When I'm winding down for the night, I'll pull a stack or two out of my ammo box and stick them into the machine only using the large turn in. If I get close to capping my points, I spend them. This isn't worth putting effort into farming for, but it makes good use of resources you already have and don't need.

    I run through west tek picking up all the guns and scrapping them an use the steel to make spikes.
    I rather get xp/caps/legendary items then spend my time getting lead/gunpowder/acid/paper. Then again i still do that passively. Steel is so abundant that it is still worth doing.

    Not so useful now that we have contextual ammo in the ammo boxes. You only have to work out an efficient ammo run holding the weapon that you want ammo for. But swapping cannon balls for fuel is a good deal. Provided that you have a reliable source of lead.

  • @thesweetone

    I did a ton of daily op runs with my explosive vampire gattling gun before i moved it to ultracite rounds and i trqded in the 45000 rounds i had, kept 5k in case... and i used all the points for my secondary build of the fixer. In daily ops the average enemy goes down in 2 or 3 shots and you get a minimum of 10 back, up to 60 i think so its basically an ammo farm in of itself

    I just use the ammo converter for plasma cartridges cuz the enclave flamer is all you need as a rifle build or commando and for heavy weapons just use it to make flamer fuel for the holy fire those are the two weapons everyone should have

    I feel like with the current state of ammo drops the converter is pretty well obsolete.
    Even if you do find value in it, the interface is soooo clunky.
    I guess I could see the use case if you’re an explosive build as the contextual drops for 40mm, mini nukes, and missiles is was less than smaller caliber ammo.

  • @biostemm

    I've had so much 5mm ammo and shotgun shells just sitting there, so with the addition of the burning love event, I converted them to points then bought fuel instead of crafting it...

  • @MrSnivvel
    @MrSnivvel 7 місяців тому

    Having the "Fast Terminals" mod (it's not specific to the Ammo Convertor but is where it really shines) greatly speeds up the conversion process. If BSG cared (they don't...) they would have released a v2.0 patch to it making the mod unnecessary and add in "Sell All"/"Buy All" options. Maybe even have a "side quest" that you get/find a plan that adds the missing ammo types like alien blaster and Ultracite variants to it (adding in extra playable game content, now that won't happen...) Like others have said, its value is in making the more esoteric and costly ammo types like flamer fuel.

  • @Rank17Legend

    So the ammo converter does come in handy. I pickup all ammo an put in my junk box. I use it in the ammo converter and when I have a hundred thousand points I buy mini nukes or 40 mm ammo because it is very taxing to make. It eats up a lot of good junk. So the ammo converter is win for me

  • @terryadams997

    • @youimstupidbut3206

      When you hover over a body that won't let you loot all, you just need to open up your pipboy while looking at the body with your crosshair. When you exit your pipboy menu, you should then be able to loot all nearby, hope this helps.
