    Hey! I'm going to be an RA on campus this coming year. As far as dress code enforcement goes, any RA on campus can dress code you (including if you are a commuter student). RS's and CGL's can't dress code since it's technically a Liberty Way violation write-up. As a whole though, so long as anything isn't super revealing you won't get dress coded. The only exception is for specific schools (government, law, business, and student teaching experiences) dress codes. Those won't be reported by an RA, but if you are out of professional attire for a presentation for something like that your professor can take points off or reschedule your presentation. That's only for specific classes though, and it's something your professor will mention in the syllabus.

      The only other exception to the dress code I can think of is wearing proper lab attire (long denim pants, at least cap sleeves on shirts, closed-toe shoes, sometimes socks that cover the ankle for higher level lab classes) for science labs. That'll be covered by your professor on the first day, and it isn't a Liberty Way violation, but you will be kicked out of the lab if you aren't wearing the proper clothing for safety reasons.

    I was there 1985-89. We had to wear dresses and skirts below knee to class. Boys had to wear ties. There were lots of opportunities to be casual. Always modest. Liberty was a great experience. Amazing memories. Thank you for this. I enjoyed it!

    The Liberty Way has the full dress code 😊 I was previously an RA at Liberty! It mostly changed last year! Now, the dresscode is basically “modest” as listed in the Liberty Way. This document is the class presentation dress code (which professors have specific guidelines in their classes).

    I find it hilarious that there are complaints about the "dress code". As a student back in the late '80s and early '90s we truly had a dress code (dress shirt, tie, nice shoes and pants to class) and no leisure or athletic wear in academic buildings before 5 pm. Sometimes people do not appreciate the freedom they have simply because they do not understand the sacrifices other had to do in the past.

    As a Guy at LU you just have to know your professor I’ve worn hats to class shorts to class. And I wear t shirts with ripped jeans to class. Plenty of my bros on the hall had long hair or earrings the hall even got ears pierced together.

      The hat rule may go back to when it was proper etiquette.. Way back in the day, it was a disrespectful to wear a hat inside. It didn't matter if it was a public building, your home, or a friend's residence. Men would take off their hats when crossing the threshold. Men would teach their son this to keep the mannerism passed down.
      Over time, the etiquette has faded away. Today, it truly doesn't matter but it will explain why you will often see older gentlemen still removing their hats as they walk into a building..
      As for Liberty, It sounds like the hat thing just depends on the particular professor.

    Excellent video ! Excellent timing . Our transferring junior will find this very helpful. She’s been online at LUOA for high school and went to Christian elementary/middle ... And she’s always dressed stylish but classy and she will have to wear something over a few tops .... no tanks no spaghetti straps I myself think it is a bit overboard for a school where the weather gets very hot months for many months . I’ve seen some other UA-camr with a similar video who showed a very well ripped pair of jeans and cropped top.so she confused us .. your video was excellent . Thank you .

    • @erickaahner4645
      @erickaahner4645 3 роки тому +2

      I completely agree with you, and honestly, no one enforces the no-tank tops/ no spaghetti straps rule on campus. As long as they aren't too low cut, she really shouldn't have an issue. When in doubt, she can ask her RA though for clarification.

    LOL. I have watched this with big smiles and grins. Women's dress lengths were the same as when I went to LU 30 years ago. My perspective as I guy was they were enforced pretty consistently then but definitely saw women with shorter dresses than the "top of the knees" a lot. "Top of the knees" was Bob Jones style and I don't think even then they wanted be THAT strict. I enjoyed the "that's interesting" comments. I am on campus fairly often and I see students breaking these rules regularly...which I'm totally good with. We had way too many rules that I think were more for the comfort of some parents and then other Baptist Fundamentalists. So very different today. As it should be.
    Excellent presentation.

    I really believe that kind of dressing is promoting modest so to nicely cover up and appear decent . They should keep it up , mybe not enforce it upon people but influence people to do it with liberty , that is wat Christ wants , ever since I become born again here in Africa, I got to understand that worldliness is really busy overtaking Christians in all areas , big ups to the school regulations

    I went to school in the 80's when it was LBC and then changed to LU and they were strict about dress code. Girls no pants unless you have sports training or PE but in any buildings or going off campus it was strict. Guys had to wear dress pants, dress shirts, ties, and dress shoes.
    Our dorms were really small rooms with 4 girls in a room. Bunk beds, 2 desks, 2 dressers, a sink with mirror, and 2 open closets. No tv's, radio only on LU station, cassettes only Christian singers. Really strict about everything. Curfews, lights out, etc. Going to church we had to check in with our RS's, chapel service 3 times a week paper sent around to sign your name with your ID numbers, caught sleeping during church or chapel written up. They were picky over everything but i did love going to school there because i felt safe there, one way on and off campus and that was going past the security shack.

    Definitely wouldn’t pay to go to an institution which dictates clothing and bodily choices. Thankful my Christian college didn’t do that.

      Thanks for the reveal. I was seriously considering attending Liberty U law school, largely because I'm Christian and support freedom of religion and conscience. However, after seeing the dress code I don't think I'd go there. Even if you've seen male students getting by with long hair, the dress code could be enforced by someone at any moment. Then you'd face getting academic grade points deducted or being expelled which would be very costly to someone in law school.
