Just swapping the textures is fine, but I believe it'd better introduce new levels and monsters as well. And it should be like Castlevania 2 (it's 2, I believe), where you had cities with merchants and NPC (even ghost NPCs you could chat with for quest info), connected by plains, forest and swamps full of monsters. Just for the cyberpunk feeling, you know.) City hubs.)
