Hi Jean, yes there is a barricade on both sides and its quite safe have a look at the video, it shows it on both sides. The jetty goes out a long way and then you can go down to the aquarium. It was great. As you can see in the video, we took the train ride to the end, its a great trip and saves time. Enjoy your trip.
