The "skilfully dodges" in the title had me prepared to be impressed by some artful sneaky moves, but the fact that the kid just plopped the cat as far away from the door as possible and just ran for his life sent me.

He’s gotta up his leg fu, this is where you block the cats line of sight with your feet as u enter and exit, you become a true master when u can do it carrying bulky items like groceries, luggage, laundry
As a lifelong cat owner, I can confirm both that leg fu is an actual thing, and thy it is an art form very much subject to the ten thousand hour rule. This is the most perfect description of it that I have ever seen.
Edit: I mastered it with every possible hard mode modifier years ago. Rain, newly dried laundry, and a front door that leads to the street? Done! Groceries and a door leading to two flights of stairs? Done! Trying to enter domicile while blinded by perfectly positioned sun? Developed sixth sense for position of cat relative to legs! Icy front porch in the dead of winter in sub-freezing temperatures and shoes without good traction? Disaster very narrowly avoided, ended up tripping into the house and all but landing on face, still got inside without cat getting out!
Yes! Others who know the art of leg fu!
You do get some determined cats who beat you occasionally but it is a matter of honour to usually block successfully.
To those who want to learn, remember. A foot is not enough, cats can jump. An upright leg is your only guarantee.
Dear masters, please teach me the art of the leg fu. I have a cat at home and a front door that opens to the streets. Would very much love to learn this ancient art. Thanks 😊
@@deborahooi6856 It can only be learned not taught I think? But I can give a few tips. Cats like to dash through the door and they need straight lines. So block along the wall as you start opening. This removes the cat’s first choice and opportunity.
Second thing is it helps if you control the door at all times, don’t make it wider that necessary or at least let it naturally follow your body partially closed.
Those are my insights, I’m sure there are others.
